Halloween Front Porch, Harvest Tea and New Buys!!

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

ANNOUNCEMENT

I am now posting 3 times a week !!!

I will be posting on TUESDAY, THURSDAY and SATURDAY

With the beginning of Fall, the HOLIDAY SEASON starts for me....

I consider the Holiday Season from September until after Easter as I decorate for all the Holidays and Seasons in between those months....

So I usually have a lot to share....

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

Today, I will be sharing how I updated my front porch for late Fall along with some new Buys and our church's Harvest Tea!!!!

In my last post, I shared how I decorated my Victorian doll house for Halloween this year along with some of our amazing Fall Foliage!!!

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Thanks Cecelia, over at My Thrift Store Addiction, for choosing my post, Welcome Autumn Home Decor on a Tray, as one of her features from last week's Vintage Charm Party!

 Thanks again, Cecelia!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

Food of the Week

This week's Reheat and Eat Dinners from the WB Scranton Pens Food Service.....

I ordered Chicken Marsala with Parmesan Risotto for myself.....

I will have this for 2 dinners as Joe and Joey left on Wednesday morning for their annual trip to Pittsburgh!!!

Just some of Joe's Pittsburgh gear!!

And you think he was going for a week with this huge suitcase!!!

I think I could fit in it!!

It was chilly this morning at 30 degrees!!

I actually turned the heat on for the first time as it was 55 degrees downstairs...

I turned it up to 65 degrees and then shut it off as I just wanted to get the chill out of the house....

Heck, I have my air conditioners set at 64 in the Summer.....

Even Joey was cold as he was wearing his one and only coat....

Black leather, of course!!

You can tell how excited Joe is to go because this time they will be attending a regular Season Pittsburgh Pens Hockey game!!!!

They encountered snow showers from central Pa, on to Pittsburgh!!

It covered the grass and the roofs but none on the road!!

I am sure Joe was having a stroke!!

I am SO JEALOUS that they got to see the first SNOW of the Season before I did!!!!

And.....

While the Joe's are away, Debbie will play!!!

I am now on vacation until Friday evening!!!

LOL!!

They asked me to go....

BUT why would I do such a silly thing!!!!

 I had my own plans!!

I went to our church's Harvest Tea with my dear friend Anne Marie....

I hate taking selfies but here I am ready to go!

Here are the decorated tables done by the hostess's of the Harvest Tea....

I apologize that I do not have the Names for the tables because I forgot my Program there......

Kathy and Rosemary's table was spectacular as ever

Everyone sitting at this table had on yellow shirts!!

2 people at this Wizard of Oz table dressed as Dorothy and the Wicked Witch

And they even had the yellow brick road!!

Entertainment was our former parish priest, Father Jim Paisley....

He put on a great little show of singing songs and telling jokes!!

We sat at Michelle's table which was for the "general public" meaning those not invited by a hostess....

The theme was "Grateful" for Thanksgiving!

This was my favor....

Now how true is that!!!

Kudos to Michelle as she helped Dorothy, who was in charge of the tea for a few years....

When Dorothy passed away only a few weeks ago, Michelle was forced to take over the whole event and host those who wanted to come but were not invited by a Hostess.....

Kudos to Michelle for putting on such a wonderful event under these sad circumstances this year...

We had a wonderful time and it was so great to see and reconnect with so many old friends!!

I will be a Hostess again next year if the good Lord permits it and I already know what my theme for my table with be...

You are just going to have to wait and see!!

In the beginning of October, I made a few changes to my Fall Front Porch and Yard....

This is how it looked in mid September....

 And now....

When I first decorated, I left the geraniums in this urn.....

They are now replaced with a mum that is just starting to bloom.....

This is how the topiary, that I made a few years ago, looked in early Fall....

 I refreshed it a bit....

I replaced the bow with a new one that I made....

And wrapped another string of garland around the topiary....

Much better, I think!!

 I changed this flag.....

 To this one....

 And this mail box cover...

 To this one....

The yellow mums that I planted in these pots are in full bloom....

I even found a grasshopper on one of them!!

I used to catch and collect these as a kid but now i seldom see them!!!

 View from the porch....

In early Fall, I left the impatiens and coleus in place....

When they started looking a bit worse for wear, it was time to replace them....

This year, I was the one went to the side of our road and cut branches off the evergreen trees instead of Joe....

I cut from 3 different types of trees....

For now, I filled the round pots in the flower bed with this greenery....

I will transfer these greens into the square posts, with the yellow mums in them, after Halloween as I will be moving these pots out to the back and the square pots into this flower bed to get them off the sidewalk to make it easier to shovel snow....

And I moved the 2 long flower boxes close together and filled them with greenery....

I do keep these watered as I read if the soil is wet when it freezes, it will keep these cut greens fresher....

They usually keep until March.....

I replaced these marigolds also with greenery....

The park bench looked like this in early fall as I left the annuals in the smaller black pot...

I planted a mum now in that small black pot...

It is just starting to bloom.....

The orange mum is in full bloom!!

Next to the bench is something new that I bought in Dollar General.....

This metal stacked pumpkin was only $6!

I changed out the Fall flag.....

 For a Halloween one!!

I love the tradition Fall colors of yellow , orange and rust....

At night, the front of our house takes on more a a Halloween look....

With the air conditioners now out of the windows, the candle lights are back in and set on a timer....

And with the addition of outside battery operated candles in the Jack o Lanterns, the front porch takes on a more spookier look....

I also added one to the lantern on the park bench....

The front will stay like this until Halloween is over ....

Then I will start decorating it for Christmas.....

I also want to share a few New Buys.....

I LOVE scented candles and Joe has been picking up these at Big Lot's....

 They smell wonderful!!

And are now marked down to $4.60....

If you have a $5 off $15 coupon, they are FREE!

I also saw this tablecloth online at Big Lot's....

Again, Joe used a $5 off $15 coupon....

The orange liner it came with was plastic so I used this fabric Fall tablecloth underneath it...

And added my black vinyl place mats to it......

Perfect for my spooky Halloween Dining Room....

I found these sweet pumpkin mugs in Dollar General for a mere $3 each!!

I enjoyed a cup of toasted hazlenut coffee with French Vanilla creamers in it....

I have them on display here in the Kitchen.....

On a recent trip to Dollar Tree, I also found these tapestry like place mats!!

I think I may add some trim to them and use them for my Thanksgiving Day table....

I bought these great little sets of Fairy Lights in Ocean State Job Lot last year and have used them to light up numerous small things...

I was thrilled to see Ocean State Job Lot had them again so I stocked up .....

I added one set to this crackle glass hurricane lamp.....

And I added another set to this orange glass pumpkin.....

I also found these warm and comfy socks there on sale for $2.99...

These are great in the evening when I have my jammies on!!!

And these cashmere blend pack of 2 socks!!

I have problems with my feet so I need socks that are comfortable when worn with shoes which I have to wear in the house as I need an arch support at all times....

Joe had Crazy Deal gift cards so everything bought at Ocean State Job Lot was FREE!

I bought these great Fall florals at Ollies!!

This large bushes were $2.99 each....

And these smaller ones were 99 cents each....

I added them to existing floral arrangements...

And I picked up this set of 6 orange dish cloths which I can also use for Easter as I do a lot of Carrots in the Kitchen!!!

Plus I had a 15% off coupon!!

I will leave you today with pictures of the setting Sun illuminating the tree across from us and our woods on the side of us.....

This is what that same Sunset looked like from my back yard as it is no longer visible from the front of our house.....

I hope you are enjoying this Fall Season as much as I am!!!

  1. I'm really enjoying the fall colors in the trees near you. It's been in the 80's here and our maple tree is still green. Glad you were able to go to the tea. It looks like some of those gals go all out.
