Memorial Day Observance and Patriotic Nelson Crest

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

Today, I will be sharing our Memorial Day family dinner and how I decorated Nelson Crest  for the Patriotic Summer Holidays.....

Truth be told, I was almost done with a post showcasing the rest of my Dining Room decorated as a Tea Room and I hit the wrong button and the whole darn thing disappeared!!!!

I had worked on it for hours so I decided to take the easy way out and do a shorter post because of lack of time.....

In my last post, I shared my Memorial Day Front Porch and yard with Flowers!!!

I also shared that I finally planted annuals in all my pots out front!!

And a Wreath that I was commissioned to make for my neighbor.....

She wanted something Patriotic but yet could be left out all Summer.....

Click HERE if you missed this post!!

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend remembering and honoring all those that lost their lives fighting for our Country.....

I set a simple tablescape for our Memorial Day Observance.....

I started off with a vinyl Patriotic tablecloth....

I even used paper plates and matching napkins.....

For a centerpiece, I chose a Patriotic Angel that I made as we were "celebrating" the lives of all those who made the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Country.....

The Angel is flanked by 2 candles with American flags on them....

I placed her on a paper place mat of the American Flag....

I embellished her with a Star that had been cut from an American Flag and the Saying that went along with it.....

Joe received these from one of the Veteran's Groups that we donate to....

For our Memorial Day Observance Dinner, I made cheese burgers on the George Foreman Grill.....

Hot dogs on the Griller.....

Macaroni Salad from Price Chopper that Joe bought and liked so much that he actually ate some of it!!

Mac N Cheese....

I whipped up a batch of boneless Chicken Bites in Honey BBQ Sauce....

And watermelon that Jim and Joe ate as they are the only ones who like it.....

And we had ice cream for dessert as there is always room for ice cream......

Joe got up from his chair and our grand pup Faye jumped up on it!!

Even though they do not feed the pups table food, Faye still wanted to see what was going on up on that table!!!

Azumi tried but even though she is bigger than Faye, her legs are shorter and she just could not make it up on the chair....

We had a lovely day spent with our little family of 5 and the Grand Pups!!

I also decorated my other House for the Patriotic Summer Holidays......

Nelson Crest is all decked out in her Patriotic finery.....

I added something new this year.....

I bought these mini pin wheels for cupcakes in Ocean State Job Lot....

I decided to use them as wreaths in the windows.....

First let's take a look at the side yard....

I added a pond for the Summer....

The Patriotic banners were made out of crepe paper.....

The upstairs balcony....

I like the look of the small pinwheels in the windows.....

I added one above the door way and added one to a wreath I made for this door....

The small flags are also for decorating cupcakes....

The Front Porch.....

A delivery of fresh eggs and milk has just been made.....

I made the wreath for the front door.....

Fire crackers on the railing.....

The side yard.....

I added a Fountain for the Summer.....

Nelson Crest will remain all decked out in her Patriotic Finery until after Labor Day.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing Nelson Crest and my Patriotic tablescape for Memorial Day....

In the beginning of May, a Robin was trying her darndest to build a nest on top of my back light fixture....

I had to put a pair of garden gloves on top of it to prevent the nest from being built...

Robins are fearless protectors of their young and would be dive bombing us every time we tried to go outside....

So I guess they moved over to my next door neighbor's and built their nest there.....

There are 3 baby robins......

So sweet but glad it is on their light fixture as they do not go out back much.....

And this pretty Butterfly was hanging out on my Front Porch rug......

I hope you will be back to visit on Sunday when I promise to have the final post on my "Tea Room" in the Dining Room ready.....

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  1. Very patriotic, we don't celebrate that holiday here in Canada. Cute baby robins. Have a wonderful day.

  2. Forgot to say, your butterfly looks like a painted lady, left a link to one of my posts so you can compare it.

  3. Perfect timing as my granddaughter is here this morning. Mom is a teacher and has to work an extra week after the students leave. She "graduated" from kindergarten so she and her little brother stayed last night for a sleepover. There wasn't much actual sleeping . . . But she is over the moon with your decorations. She is coloring little flags to tape on her plastic doll house windows!

  5. Nelson Crest is just so adorable, Debbie, in all it’s patriotic decor. Your table looks so lovely and your homemade angel is darling. Hot dogs and hamburgers sounded perfect for your meal.

  8. Nelson Crest is like nothing I've ever seen, Deb! I just can't get over how you incoporated so many fabulous details. It's all really delightful. Love that you guys all got together to celebrate holidays. My Dad would lose it over the hot dog griller so I can't wait to try and find something similar for his birthday. Hope your week has been a happy one, CoCo

  9. The red/white/blue bunting and American flags on the dollhouse are adorable! I like all of your patriotic decorations, but the patriotic angel is my favorite.
Thank you for participating in Talent-Sharing Tuesdays 21.
