Garden Tea Table in the Sitting Room, Bed and Breakfast Series

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

Today, I will be doing another installment of my Bed and Breakfast Series....

I will be sharing more of my upstairs Sitting Room that I have decorated in a Garden Theme for the Summer.....

But first, Thanks to Linda, over at Life and Linda, for choosing my post, Memorial Day Observance and Patriotic Nelson Crest, as one of her features from last week's Love Your Creativity Link Party!!

 Thanks so much, Linda!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!

In my last post, I shared the story of the house next door to me and how it has been remodeled.....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

We are so thrilled to have nice new neighbors!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

This week's Reheat and Eat Dinners from the WB Scranton Pens Food Service.....

 For me and Joey...

Grilled Chicken Strips w/ Sauteed Shrimp over pasta in Cajun Alfredo Sauce & Fire Roasted Peppers

Joey will eat the chicken and I will eat the shrimp as joey does not like shrimp....

And for Joe..

Seasonal Ground Beef & Rice wrapped in Cabbage leaves braised in sweet tomato sauce w/ Yukon Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Roasted Seasonal Vegetables

We have had the shrimp and chicken once before and it was delicious!!!!

I have been working on another Landscape project which I will be sharing on Sunday....

It is my neighbor Ed's slope last year as we put off re-landscaping it until this year as it was too hot at the time....

A lot of it was weeds as this was my neighbor Elly's yard and the new owner, Ed's landlord, just used used a weed whacker on it and threw weed killer on it...

I have managed to pull most of the weeds out, trying to save a few of the perennials which are sedum, phlox and dianthus....

I will be mulching it on the weekend when it is cooler.....

I did freshen up the top part of his flower beds by the house....

I raked up the mulch put down last year, straightened out the scalloped border and replaced one that crumbled and planted a few missouri primrose in the center...

Yesterday was Flag Day so I decorated the front of the house with a few flags.....

Amazing with the addition of a few flags will do to make it look a bit festive!!!

I always say that in my 40's, when all my multiple Medical issues started to rear their ugly heads, I knew that my days of traveling for any distance were over....

So I decided that since I loved the Victorian Era so much that I would turn my 1970's built townhouse into the Victorian Bed and Breakfast that I would love to stay at if I was able to continue to travel....

Every Bed and Breakfast seems to have a cozy room where guests can go and choose a book from bookcases filled a variety of books....

They can then sit and relax in a comfy chair, maybe by a fire place and do a bit of reading...

Several years ago, I decided to change what used to be my son Jim's bedroom from a Guest Room into a Sitting Room because I realized that in 40 years, we never had a guest stay over........

I decided to decorate this room in a Garden Theme and use several book cases for all my Decorating and Gardening books and books that I amassed with the intention of reading when I retired....

A few weeks ago, I shared how I decorated my faux fire place in the Sitting Room as an indoor Fairy Garden....

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Today, I will be sharing this corner of the Sitting Room.....

The room is painted a nice Sunny yellow and I put up a floral border that I bought on Ebay....

Several years ago, I painted all the furniture white with the exception of a corner curio that was my neighbor Elly's.....

This corner is the the left when you enter the room.....

I like to hang wreaths that I made on the doors of all the rooms in the house....

Hanging on this door is a Garden wreath I made.....

Ignore the marks on the door from where I pulled the scotch tape off when removing things that my son Jim attached to his door!!!

Ugh!

I used flower seed packets....,

A bow made from ribbon bought at Dollar Tree.....

Garden gloves and a bird's nest....

Small clay pots and garden tools......

And mini garden pails and watering cans....

All flowers were bought at Dollar Tree.......

The garden shovel is one of 2 bought at Ollies recently......

Above the door way is a plaque with my favorite quote on it surrounded with a trio of small vintage plates.....

Since this is such a small room, I used a lot of shelves to store my son's books, DVD's and electronic equipment when he lived here, making use of wall space....

This shelf used to be above his bed and he kept some of his DVD collection on it....

The dresser scarves were made by my maternal grandmother....

Vintage porcelain doll heads.......

A crystal candle holder....

A tea pot and a birdcage.....

A lot of memories on a magnetic board......

One of my former neighbors gave me this wash stand that I painted white....

An arrangement of yellow and pink flowers in the pitcher of a set.....

I made this.....

A birdcage in the chamber pot that goes with the bowl and pitcher.....

I bought this window mirror at a yard sale.....

I bought the swag above it at Salvation Army for $5....

On the shelf....

A candle holder that I made....

And the small pitcher that goes with the set........

A vintage Victorian boot with a floral arrangement inside of it....

Decorating magazines stored inside the vintage sewing box that the boot is placed on top of....

On the wall in the corner.....

Vintage ceramic parasol planters bought at a Flea Market...

A Tussie Mussie that I made....

My niece Lisa made these when each of my sons were born....

I kept the Garden theme when setting up this Tea Table in the corner....

I embellished the lamp shade for this vintage capodimonte lamp.....

I used some Fairy Garden pieces.....

A bow I made for this bright pink lantern....

Fairies in a tea cup.....

The capodimonte lamp that was gifted to me by 2 elderly Antique Dealers that I was friends with that have now passed away....

I bought this vintage tea set at a church Flea Market in Wilkes Barre about 20+ years ago......

I thought it is perfect for a Garden themed Tea Table.....

The creamer and a tea bag holder.....

I placed the tea pot on a yellow pedestal......

But first I placed this pretty vintage plate on top of the pedestal.....

In the center in front of the tea pot.....

A garden stepping stone from Dollar Tree.....

The bright pink doily was bought at Michael's in the Dollar bins.....

A toad stool and another fairy bought a few years ago in Big Lot's.....

A matching tea cup and saucer with a pretty card I received.....

I have a set of 4 tea cups and saucers.....

The vintage dresser scarf on the table was made by my maternal grandmother.....

The sugar bowl.....

Another tea bag holder....

This vintage topper on the table has pockets for tea bags!!!!

To the side of the table....

The other decorative garden shovel I bought at Ollies......

A Home Interiors picture that I spray painted the frame of white......

On the chair next to the table......

Are both of my son's Cabbage Patch dolls.....

I bought this chair for $1 at a yard sale and spray painted it pink.....

When I got rid of the single bed in this room, I liked the yellow floral sheet set so much that I decided to use it to upholster the chair and make pillows out of.....

I added ribbon flowers and tassel trim to it......

Hanging on the side of the shelf unit next to the chair is a parasol......

You can see that I also added what was the dust ruffle of the sheet set to the bottom of the round blue tablecloth on the table.....

Hanging in the corner is a chandy that I made.....

Several years ago, I bought 2 black chandy's on Clearance in Ross Dress for Less ....

This is the one that I added a set of white demitasse cups to, painted red and hung above my Kitchen sink.....

I like to decorate it for the different holidays....

I painted the other one white.......

I bought several of these ceiling medallions at a Thrift store and I painted this one white and blue....

I glued clear glass votive candle holders to the chandy and placed small clay pots, bought at Dollar Tree, filled them with flowers, inside the votives.....

I hung a fairy from the chandy.....

And hung chandy crystals bought at Wegman's from it....

And that completes this post about my Garden Sitting Room.....

In the future, I will be finishing up this Tour of my Garden Sitting Room and sharing my Tea Cup Collection......

My "library" of books....

Where I store my decorating magazines....

My comfy reading chair and where I sleep at night sometimes....

And a few more "Pretties".....

But until then, I hope you will stop by to visit again on Sunday when I hope to share my completed landscaping project of my neighbor Ed's slope!!!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  3. So pretty! But I do have a favorite - I just love the fairies in the tea cup! Those meals always look so delicious. I would like one of each this week! And even better you don't have to cook them yourself. I really enjoy looking at all your treasures. Be careful in this heat with your landscape "business", I am sure with each new "client" someone else wants to hire you too!

  8. Your gardening wreath is so adorable! I love all the flag touches outside too and can not wait to see how you transform your neighbor's yard.

  9. So much fun to take a peek at your Victorian Bed and Breakfast, Deb. I love how you brought your favorite things home when you weren't able to travel as much. It's such an inspiring idea. I think a lot of people just give up on their dreams but you are living proof that if you can't travel to your dream place, you can bring the dream place to your home! Can't wait to see how the flower beds come together. You've worked so hard to help all your neighbors have such a beautiful place so I know it's going to be fabulous. Just pinned your flag wreath idea too - it's super creative! Big hugs, CoCo
