I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

Gnome/Fairy and Fur Baby Memory Gardens, 2022

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

Today I will be sharing my Gnome/Fairy and Fur Baby Memory Gardens in the back yard.....

In my last post, I shared how our Front Yard looks now that we mulched it and that my phlox are blooming on the slope.....

Click HERE if you missed that post....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week....

Not much to share accept that Joey treated us to Hoagies from one of our favorite places, Serpico's.....

I got the Chicken Cheese Steak with mayo, tomatoes and onions.....

Joe got a Sausage Parm hoagies.....

And Joey got a Chicken Parm Hoagie.....

Along with 2 slices of Buffalo Chicken Pizza....

Joe and I could only eat half of our hoagies but Joey ate all of his along with the pizza!!

LOL!!

I cleaned the Living Room window and we put in the air conditioner...

I left up my peach lace curtains, just pulling them back on each side as I have in other years....

2 years ago, we purchased new air conditioners and I am so glad that they make them white now...

Remember when they were black with dark wood like panels!!!

UGLY!!

When we bought this one, it came with white panels to put over and hide the accordion sides....

Looks so much better doesn't it and it keeps out any bugs and seals the window up better as I use white duck tape to keep it in place...

I made my own panels out of white poster board for the Bedroom air conditioner....

It gives it a much cleaner look when you do not have central air conditioning and have to rely on window air conditioners...

Thank Goodness we put the Living Room one in because we have been having temps. in the 80's with dew points in the mid 60's!!!

I could not sleep on Friday night because it was 77 degrees in our bedroom and the oscillating fan just was not cutting it....

We will be putting the air conditioner in the bedroom window today after I take down the lace curtains and clean the window.......

It seems that Spring is over already and Summer has come....

Geez!!

Joe had promised to paint the porch railing for Trish who owns the house next door....

Yes, he can kneel like that and still is able to get up even at almost 68 years old!!!!

He needs a hair cut again......He hates to go....

Amazing what a fresh coat of paint will do!!!!

 Much better!!!

In a post I did not too long ago, I shared my indoor Fairy Garden on the Mantel of the faux fire place in the upstairs Sitting Room.....

Click HERE if you did not see that post......

I used some of my outdoor pieces indoors this year.....

So I was able to fit the remainder of the pieces in the galvanized tub that I use for my outdoor Fairy/Gnome Garden.....

The Fairy Garden Tub is at the edge of the Patio.....

I guess you can say that it is more of a Gnome Garden now.....

I use green gems to mimic grass....

A lot of my hens and chicks in this area did not survive the Winter.....

I repurposed a Fairy House solar light that no longer works.....

Most of the Gnome figures were bought at Dollar General last year.....

Even a tea table......

This house is solar lit....

The blue gems mimic water....

As pieces start to look weather worn, I will not replace them and will be scaling this down until I move everything that is left inside which then I will use this tub as a huge flower container......

Now I also have another area in the back yard that is also a Gnome Garden.....

It is a little different this year because I changed the pathway to the shed...

By making a straighter walkway this year.......

At least now I won't be tripping and running the risk of falling....

A few years ago, I gave all the Gnome pieces a fresh coat of paint and then sprayed them with a sealer....

So far so good....

You can see that my perennials are growing well.....

There is a small Columbine with buds on behind the toad stool.....

These are Missouri Primrose....

Which will soon bloom with yellow flowers....

Joe bought this Gnome mini flag at Ollies a few weeks ago....

I bought the Toad Stool House at Big Lot's a few years back.....

I may have to give this one a fresh coat of paint.....

Hostas and Sedum are growing fine by the chair that I still have to plant flowers in the pot.....

I bought this "door" at a yard sale for $1.00!!

Joe bought this Gnome stepping stone last year.....

I will have to move these around as the perennials grow more....

How it looks from this side.....

And this guy will be added as soon as I paint him......

There is one more area that I also want to share.....

Since I extended the Patio with pavers to hold my second Patio Umbrella base, I had to move my Fur Baby Memory Garden over a bit....

But it fits perfectly in this space between the Patio extension and the new walkway to the arbor....

I bought these customized memory stones after we lost each of our fur babies....

The Doggie Angel came from Lowe's over 20 years ago.....

I bought this rock at a yard sale.....

And the small rock was bought at Dollar Tree....

I have to paint that patch on the Doggie Angel that chipped off...

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Fairy/Gnome Garden and my Fur Baby Memory Garden........

Since Summer is ahead of schedule here and it may hit 90 degrees next weekend ( Ugh!), it looks like I will be able to buy and plant my annuals in my pots this coming week....

I will also be starting to clean out this area in the back of the house next door which was once a vegetable garden...

Once I get it cleaned out, I will straighten the cinder block border , put down weed block fabric and mulch it before the new tenant moves in on June 1st.......

Yesterday since Joe was working from 8 am to 3 pm, I cleaned and decorated the Dining Room for the Summer after finally packing away all the Easter decorations....

Since I will not be decorating it for any Holidays until Halloween, I decided I was going to decorate it as if it is a Tea Room.....

I hope you will come back and visit on Wednesday when I share my "Tea Room" Buffet!!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  3. The fairy garden in the tub is just wonderful! I can't wait to show my granddaughter the photos. She has been collecting fairy garden items since she was 3 and she just turned 6. Her mama dug a garden in the corner by their back porch. She went with us to the nursery and they sell plants just for fairy gardens. I asked her how many she was allowed to buy and she told me mama said she could have as many as she wanted. (not sure that was true!) But she has not been able to part with the pieces yet. She drew a doll house in chalk on their back sidewalk and has been playing with them instead of setting up her garden.

Meanwhile, since I do not have Joe's knees, I have decided not to plant any annuals this year. I love the idea of the larger pieces in your gnome garden to fill in among the perennials. I may be visiting some stores in the area! Thanks!

  4. Your fairy garden is just charming! (My little guys would like it, too.) Seeing the black railing a lightbulb went off in my head. I have to keep repainting my white railing because it gets dirty and peels so quickly and when it does, it really shows. I'm doing black! Thank you!

  5. There is so much to see Deb, but of course the The Fairy Garden Tub caught my eye, I've been thinking I should get out my fairies out and create a scene in one of my planters at least. Adds a cute touch of interest to your garden. Thank you for the mention and sharing on Oh My Heartsie Girls' Wonderful Wednesday!
    Have a great week

  7. Your gnome/fairy garden is so cute!! I love that fur baby memory garden as well. Good time to put in the A/C! It certainly seems like we nearly skipped spring and went right to summer.
