Apples with a Touch of Sunflowers...Late Summer Kitchen!

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

Today I will be sharing how I decorated my Kitchen for Late Summer in an Apple theme with a touch of Sunflowers....

In my last post, I shared a Garden Update......

And a Few Fall/Halloween Crafts that I made.....

And I also made some Apple Crafts for the Kitchen....

Click HERE if you missed that post......

And now for a few Personal Notes...

Joe recently discovered this pizza at Price Chopper for a mere $6.99.....

Sometimes $5 on sale!!

On Saturday, he added his own pepperoni ( he is very picky about his pepperoni ) to it for him and Joey as I can not eat it for fear of death.....

You pop this sucker in the oven for 20 minutes.....

It rises nicely and is delicious!!!

When we finished the Landscaping Project that my new next door neighbor had hired us to do, Joe told her he would cut down the yews in the flower bed under her LR window when the robin and her babies left the nest in the one shrub.....

Of course, he decided to cut down one of the yews on one of the hottest days last week when it was 90 degrees and very high humidity......

After we finished the project.......

After Joe cut down the one yew and cut back the hostas which were getting quite holy and not in the religious sense of the word......

As soon as the robins leave the other one, he will cut that one down too.....

This barberry bush was also cut down initially.......

Joe cut it down to the ground as it was starting to grow back with pickers on it........

Barna Landscaping will be doing one more project......

More to come on that soon......

Joe did find a few more things that I was looking for at Dollar Tree so I did a bit more crafting.....

I will share more about this in a future post but this is a sneak  peek......

Before.....

After.....

I turned these 3 packs of goodies from Dollar Tree......

Into these ornaments......

I may be doing something in the way of a garland with them......

I am having the BEST time getting to do all the Crafting I want!!

Have I mentioned that I LOVE being RETIRED????????

LOL!!

Sending Prayers out to all that may be in the path of Hurricane Ida......

Here is NEPA, we too may be affected with rain amounts anywhere from 2-6 inches in some areas......

And maybe up to 8 inches!!!!!

It could be catastrophic for our area that surrounds the Susquehanna River......

We will see by mid week.....

Stay safe, everyone!!!

I truly love decorating my Kitchen more than I love cooking in it!!!!

I decided to change some things out for Late Summer.......

I had actually planned on doing so right after July 4th but got sidetracked with the Landscaping projects for my neighbors and the heat!!!

Last year, I had come up with the idea to decorate with some Apple decor that I already had and a bit of Sunflowers for Late Summer.....

I just didn't get to do it as early as I thought I would but it will be a few weeks yet before I decorate the Kitchen for Fall/Halloween......

Luckily, for the month of August, there is a Sunflower picture on my Calendar!!

The apple tile is normally on this chalkboard that was gifted to me by a former co worker.....

I shopped my own Hutch here to create an Apple vignette on the desk area of the Hutch I made from an old desk and bedroom furniture shelf unit......

I simply pulled some of the Apple items that I had displayed here since after Easter and rearranged the shelves.....

The Desk area is decorated in an Apple theme.....

I added an Apple pick to the arrangement in the corner.....

Borrowed a few Apples from a bowl full of them on one of my shelves and took the Apple clock from the top shelf of the Hutch.......

I bought this in Micheal's many years ago and it usually hangs in the corner on the Kitchen cabinets......

The vintage Apple set was on the shelves of the Hutch above the Desk area.......

I borrowed a copper pizza pan that Joe seldom uses to use as a tray here.......

I changed out the floral candle ring around the vintage milk glass lamp for a red berry one......

This wooden Apple piece was also gifted to me by a former co-worker.....

The round woven place mat was bought on clearance several years ago in Wegman's.....

I also decorated underneath the Desk.....

The Apple sign was my neighbor Elly's, who also decorated her Kitchen with Apples.....

One of the toilet paper Apples that I made......

A wooden Apple Pie sign hangs on the pedestal stand......

A vintage Yellow Ware bowl in green filled with wooden Apples from my neighbor Elly's home......

And a vintage Apple Canister set.......

One of the Apple crafts I made using an embroidery hoop......

A vintage Sunflower door stop.....

In the evening with all my ambient lighting on......

In the corner......

Hung a vintage rose tray where the Apple cutting board that I used on the desk usually hangs....

An Apple Orchard oven mitt.....

I hung the matching Apple Orchard towel from the grater holder that I made.....

Another Apple towel hangs on the stove......

An Apple pot holder......

Not much changed here where my Kitchen window once was....

Fairy lights in my Sunflower Crackle glass votive........

In the evening.......

I hung vintage Apple and Strawberry dish towels......

Switched to my Apple rugs......

I bought these in Gabes a few years ago.....

I added a few Sunflowers that I picked up at Dollar Tree recently to my wire tea cup in the counter of this area of the counter.....

I love the texture of them!!!

 In the evening.....

In my last post, I shared the Apple wreath that I made from a Dollar Tree grapevine wreath using things that I already had.....

I also hung 2 Apple pot holders on the handles of the cabinet doors.....

My Beverage Area......

I changed out the Coffee bottle cap sign......

For a Sunflower one.......

I switched out the place mat for a solid gold one......

And I placed a cute Apple dish cloth underneath a clear acrylic board......

Still too hot outside for my flavored Teas and Hot Cocoa that I enjoy in the Fall and Winter.....

On top of the refrigerator......

I simply added an Apple to the existing vignette that has been here all Summer......

The counter bar......

I added some faux green vegetables to the copper wire hanging baskets.....

And you may remember from my last post that I made these toilet paper Apples.......

I placed the yellow and green ones on top of my red mercury glass candlesticks......

I thought they went well with my stained glass lamp on the counter bar......

I changed the runner on the counter bar.....

On the side of the counter bar.......

More apples.......

And the other Apple embroidery hoop I made.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I changed my Kitchen up a bit by adding a few Apple and Sunflower decor items.....

It will stay this way for a few weeks until I decorate it for Fall/Halloween.....

In my next post, I will be sharing some Patriotic decor that Joe got on clearance....

And what I did with it!!!

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  4. I have learned something about PA weather from you. No idea it was that hot and humid. I just wish you could send some of that rain to CA where we're dealing with fires and temps near 100. It's been so smoky here we can't open windows or use our evaporative cooler. Stay safe and have fun crafting.

    1. PJ,
I swear each Summer gets only more hot and more humid than the last one was and I truly do not remember it being like this when i was a kid!!The heat and humidity really bothers me because of my auto immune disease.I do wish I could send some rain to you in CA to help put out these terrible fires...Thanks so much for visiting!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!

  5. I love the apples! September is always the month of new starts for me since it is the beginning of school (most years anyway). I have a ceramic apple on a pedestal on my table for breakfast tomorrow. Two of the grands will be getting on the bus! Your kitchen is so lovely. I don't know how you have the energy for all the decorating, but I know it is a labor of love.

  6. Cutest toilet paper pumpkins. I have not seen them before. Soon it will be apple picking time. I look forward to making applesauce and apple butter. That pizza looks so good. Aldis has good pizza. Really reasonable too. Your husband is a trooper for sure out working in the yard. My husband seems like he can't wait to get out in 90 degree heat to cut grass and weed whack. I get on him because I don't want him to get over heated. The air can be cut with a knife here. Nice pretty and happy fall decorations you have. Betsy

  10. I love your apple theme. I once collected apple decor and country decor like roosters and barns. Paired with red and white gingham or buffalo check, there is nothing more welcoming and expresses a home full of love than this. I love your little candle lights tucked into your decor here and there. They always are so warm and inviting. I have some of the same pieces like the apple egg basket. Your lovely collection reminds me of all of the fun trips to the apple orchards. I can almost smell the delicious scent of apples right now. Enjoy your sweet collection.

  11. If you keep this up all your neighbors are going to be asking you to tidy up their areas :) Looks great but not a good time to be doing it that is just too hot. Your apple theme kitchen looks great.
I bet it is nice to be able to just do what you like now that you are retired, glad you are enjoying life!

  18. Your sunflower and apple kitchen is adorable, Debbie! Your entire apple collection makes me miss being at the cabin this time of year for apple picking season. We recently brought back a few pies and they were amazing. Can't wait to see all the fun craft ideas you have in store this season. I swear I never see the cool stuff at our dollar store that you have at yours but that's not going to stop me from looking :) Hope you've had the best week, CoCo

  21. Debbie, for years I decorated my whole kitchen with apples...it all began with a great set of handpainted canisters I found at a craft fair! Thanks for sharing your cute sunflower and apple decor at Vintage Charm!

  22. So many cute apple and sunflower touches! My very first kitchen had a deep green floor and I decorated the whole thing in sunflowers; even our dinner plates had sunflowers on them. I have always had a fondness for those flowers.
