A Victorian Summer Day and a Purse Project!!

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder until I can get an Email Subscription Service running here on this blog and my Christmas blog, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

Today, I will be sharing the rest of my late Summer decorations in the Living Room......

In my last post, I shared some new creations and some updated ones to go with my late Summer "Under the Sea" theme in the Living Room, along with another area that I decorated in this theme......

Click HERE if you missed that post!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

I actually went out shopping for the first time in MONTHS!!!!

I kid you not!

I can not even remember that last time I entered a store physically or for that matter, have left my home to go somewhere other than my monthly trip to J.C.Penney's, which is 5 minutes away, to get my hair cut or go to an occasional Dr.'s or Dentist appointment.

Truth be told, I do not feel the need to do so!!

And with the rising case numbers of CoVid, I am perfectly content here in my own little Victorian Bed and Breakfast that I created for myself!!

Joe does all the food shopping and will run out at a moment's notice to get me whatever I want because he, unlike myself, can not stand to be home.....

So I guess it works out okay....

So where did I go you are asking????

To 2 different Dollar Tree stores , both of which are right down the road....

Long Story Short is that I will tell you about it in my next post when I share my Dollar Tree Fall Haul's!!!

I am so excited with what I bought!!

Even though we are now in the middle of extreme heat and humidity with heat warnings being issued, I managed to do a small project in the Craft Room which has no air conditioner......

The closet in the Craft Room is where I keep the majority of my clothes....

I have been wanting to find a better Organizer for my purses for quite some time now and I saw one online that might work in Joe's favorite place to shop........ Bed, Bath and Beyond!!!

Yes, the joke here is that Joe has been in that store more often than we can even count and it is usually the first place he runs when looking for something!!!!!

I , personally, hate the store because 2 people can not fit down an aisle in there and I get very claustrophobic.....

This was the purse hanger that I had and of course, it had been purchased in Bed, Bath and Beyond......

It was a pain in the butt to try to get a purse off those velcro straps

Let alone try to put one back on to the Organizer......

2 years ago, I went through all my purses and donated quite a few but I am still left with 18 purses!!!!

Yes, it is embarrassing if you ask me but I did not buy them......not a single one.....

SAY WHAT?????

Joe cashed in Comp Points when he used to go to Mohegan Sun Casino, which is 10 minutes away from our house, and then gifted me all these purses!!!!

A few posts ago, I shared a Theme Basket I made up for the raffle that our Church is holding in conjunction with a Purse Bingo Fund Raiser.....

I have not attended this Fund Raiser that has been held for several years at our Church because I truly do not need another purse and this time, with the increase of cases of Co Vid........

200 people crammed into a Church Hall, all talking and laughing for 4 hours does not appeal to me and actually frightens me....

So I will not be attending this Saturday's Purse Bingo

And the event is SOLD OUT!!

I have already seen on local Church cancel a Fall Festival because of the surge that we are now experiencing and I am sure there will be many more cancellations this Fall of indoor events....

Anyway, these are my favorite purses made by Nicole Lee.....

And this is my new Organizer that now holds 13 purses quite neatly, I think!!!

Bought at bed, Bath and Beyond for $13 plus Joe had a coupon so it was even cheaper.....

I can easily get a purse out.....

And put another back in.......

And I even have storage now underneath it for another craft tub or two.....

So much better and with the fan on in this room, I did not melt away while doing this project......

I put the remaining 4 purses on this shelf in one of the closets in our bedroom where I keep my "everyday" clothes......

And of course, I am using one purse.....

When I decide to pass them on, I will see if my nieces want any of them as my DIL does not even carry a purse!!

Sometimes I think she is the smart one!!!!

You know how much I love to take pictures from our front porch.......

I took these of a rain storm that was descending upon us....

Sunsets and Sunrises are cool but so are clouds formations!!!!

In my last post, I shared more of my "Under the Sea' decorations and crafts that I recently made along with some I updated.....

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Every year now, in late Summer, I set up the top of my TV Entertainment Center, displaying what I feel is a perfect Victorian Summer Day in the Park near the Sea.....

I do try to change it up a bit from year to year but there is only so much that I can do with that.....

So here is this year's offering......

This reminds me of the scene in the movie Mary Poppins when Bert and Mary take the children to the park on a beautiful Summer day .....

Mothers and Nannies are there with children......

Swans are floating around on the lake.....

Children are anxious to ride the Carousel!!

There are beautiful Victorian street lamps.....

A wooded path off in the distance.....

And a Church to stop in and rest a bit after a stroll.....

All the figurines used in this display are from Home Interiors.....

As are the pictures on the wall.....

I am going to let the pictures do the talking.....

I bought the Carousal at Sam's Club after Christmas many years ago......

The park benches and the lamp posts are also from Home Interiors......

And now with the candles on...

And the gold branch trees lit......

And a battery operated string of lights that I wove throughout the display lit....

I enjoy this display as it is the only time when I do not have a Holiday display on top of the TV Entertainment Center.....

Or for that fact, in the Living Room itself in most places.....

Here is a quick look at the tables in the Living Room, devoid of Holiday decorations.....

I still stick to my love of Victorian style decorating.....

One other area of the house that I want to show you is the hallway going from the Living Room to the Kitchen.....

In keeping with the mainly aqua theme that I have for the late Summer.....

This picture was gifted to me by a friend who painted it.....

I hung a wreath that I made on the hall mirror......

Underneath the wreath, I hung a vintage styled Pepsi-Cola tin tray......

And that is the end of my late Summer "Under the Sea" decorations tour!!

I hope you enjoyed seeing it as much as I enjoy spending time in the Living Room at this time of year......

This will stay this way until AFTER Labor Day.....

I know many Bloggers are already decorating for Fall but with it being in the 90's and having "Tropical" dew points, there is no way I would even attempt to go up in the attic to get tubs down ......

I am really looking forward to Fall and have been "dabbling" with some of the Fall Dollar Tree Buys that I shared in the beginning of this post......

So I hope you will stop by again on Sunday when I share what I have been up to!!!!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  1. Oh how I love to see the, “Victorian Days in the Park”. My imagination runs at full speed. Can almost hear the happy children and the birds in the trees.
Loved seeing the rain clouds in the sky. I always seem to get sketter bites waiting for our sun sets so I’ll enjoy the ones you get and I’ll do it itch free.
Excited to see the shopping treasures you came home with. The fun awaits!
Looking forward to our next visit.
    Blessings to you 💜

  2. Hey, Debbie. I had to laugh, you made all those Fall purchases and then the comment about the tropical dew points. We have had 4 inches of rain and three horrid storms here since Saturday...and I know you probably got them now too. Yes, Fall seems along way off when it is 94 outside with 89% humidity. Even the floor is slick...LOL. Happy crafting, great solution on the purses. I don't have that problem, because I don't buy one until one wears out! Hugs, Sandi

  4. As much as I want it to be cooler, I am in no hurry to decorate for fall! It is hot and steamy here and no one can convince me that it is time for pumpkins! It is apple time as they are dropping off our trees faster than we can scoop them up for compost. I don't can anymore and after surgery on both hands, I don't even peel an random apple unless I have to! We actually take the ground falls to the city compost pile where the manager keeps his personal buckets. He lives in the country and spreads them in his yard for the deer.

Meanwhile -I love that idea for storing purses! Mine tend to end up in a big pile and we will not discuss how a person who does not often leave the house needs the quantity of purses that are in that pile.

  7. What a pretty and fun display. I loved it! Believe it or not my favorite things were those lamp posts. They really added to the whole scene. Some of those purses are beautiful. Glad you found a way to store the ones you want to keep. I have two purses. LOL! Just two. One I use and I always have a back up in case the first one breaks. I hate purse shopping. I can never find any I like. Too bad Danielle doesn't do purses. Your nieces are gonna love em though!

  8. Love your Victorian Days at the park display Debbie! It reminds me me of Mary Poppins too! I can't wait to see what you do with your dollar tree haul. I will be headed over there soon. Larry is just like Joe, he will even go to Home Goods for me just to get out of the house haha! I will need to decorate for fall before Sep.3rd since Katie will be home for a visit and I don't want to do anything while she is here except spend every minute with her! Thanks for sharing your lovely victorian decorations! Stay safe!

  9. It's always fun to see what you're up to, Debbie! We've been staying close to home as well. Florida has been a crazy hot spot for COVID and while we've all been vaccinated and try to stay at home as much as possible, we're back to wearing masks and being extra careful. Especially, since my aunt has cancer. Loved the way you've organized your purses and all the Fall goodies you've picked up too. Hope your weekend is peace filled, CoCo

  11. Hi Deb: Hope you are well. That is a question for the ages any more, isn't it? If we step out of the house to get the mail, we have to be careful we don't catch something. I am sick of it. I don't mind staying home, that isn't the problem but I am sick to death of all the thoughtless individuals that are roaming around in the world..We had 102 cases in one day in my little town. I love the teal and peach colors that seem to be prominent in your scheme now. They look so cooling and calm which is what I am aware of right now. Love all your handbags. Stay cool and safe..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy

  13. Thanks for sharing on Happiness is Homemade! What a great purse organizer! I don't have that many purses because my hubby would kill me if I spent $130 a pop & had 18 purses lol. With my health now we can't buy any purses actually lol. Over a million in medical bills, so we just basically eat and live! It is so sad that a CHURCH closed a fall festival. I feel so sad for them. You must be in an area that has an extremely high amount of cases. I will keep you & yours in my prayers because of that!
