I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

What's in Your Drawers and Cabinets??? Vintage Glassware?????

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder until I can get an Email Subscription Service running here on this blog and my Christmas blog, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

Today, I am going to be sharing a little project that I did last week.......

Cleaning out and organizing the Kitchen cabinets and drawers.....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

We got quite a bit of rain this week as we suffered through the remnants of Hurricane Fred.....

On Tuesday, we got over 1 1/4 inches of rain from Fred.....

Unfortunately, it was a very humid week even though the temps.were in the low to mid 80's.....

The day after Fred made it's way through the area, I did capture an amazing Sunset from the front porch......

I am Blessed to be able to enjoy a view like this from our front porch!!

In my last post, I shared how I was able to get every dime that was owed to me as a benefit from my employer before I retired.....

Click HERE if you missed that post......

It was too hot and rainy to do anything outside.....

So I decided that I was going to clean out the cabinets and drawers in the Kitchen since the last time I did it was 2 years ago when I stopped working.....

Now I live in a townhouse that is 43 years old and we still have the original Kitchen cabinets.....

I have painted them 3 times in those 43 years but I simply did not have the energy to paint the inside of them.........

Nor do I now....

I am embarrassed to say that the original contact paper that I put in the cabinets is still there.....

I do have to admit  that it is sort of cute!!

And this was also in some of the cabinets.......

Since Joe is always bugging me as to what could he do to keep busy because Lord knows he can't think of a single thing while I have daily To Do Lists, I told him that he can use up some of my stash of contact paper bought over the years and work on replacing the contact paper in the Kitchen cabinets.....

He did so in the drawers years ago.....

2 years ago when I stopped working, I went through all the cabinets and drawers and donated everything that we were not using.....

I felt that 2 years later would be a good time to do it again after seeing what we are still using and what we are not.....

My neighbor Elly, which I speak of often on my blog, was the Queen of Organization.....

She had tons of these wire shelves in different sizes in her cabinets.....

I did do a Search on them and they are now running anywhere from $10 to $15 each!!!!

I know she only paid a few Dollars a piece when she bought them a long time ago!!

When we cleaned out her home for her sons after she passed away, I took all of them and put them in my cabinets......

What a difference they made.....

Let's go around the Kitchen and take a look inside my cabinets and drawers....

This is what is inside the ones above the stove......

I store all of my storage containers and Take Home containers in here......

You can see how nicely those wire shelves work!!!

Now we will take a look in the pot drawer in the stove.......

Pretty much all my pots fit in here......

In the cabinet on the left side of the sink.......

This is where I store all my spices and other ingredients needed for cooking and baking.....

On the top shelf are all the extra spices and ones that I have seconds of.......

On these 2 shelves, on Rubbermaid turntables that I bought 43 years ago, are all the ones I use for everyday cooking and baking......

In the drawer and cabinets below the counter top......

The gadget drawer.......

 Directly under the drawer.......

I used a simple pot rack holder to hold baking pans.......

Bottom shelf........

I used a wire shelf for boxes of sandwich bags, tin foil, etc......

 Under the sink.......

When we remodeled the Kitchen, Joe used peel and stick flooring to line the bottom of the cabinets......

On a large turntable.....

Over on the other side of the sink......

On the top shelf is where I keep my collection of vintage Libbey Gold Leaf Glassware.......

I bought them at yard sales, estate sales and church flea markets.......

2 Iced Tea Glasses and 2 Pilsner glasses......

 Water/Wine glasses......

Sherbet glasses.....

2 Low Ball glasses.......

2 Ice Buckets.......

I sometimes use these for our family dinners and when entertaining company......

On the second shelf is where I keep my measuring cups...

In the far corner to the right is where I store Holiday and Seasonal coffee mugs.....

On the bottom shelf is where I keep our everyday glasses.........

Again using an old turntable......

I also have some vintage character glassware........

1973 Pepsi Looney Tunes......Elmer Fudd and the Road Runner

1980's McDonald's glasses that were my son's!!!

1970's???? Snoopy

1980's Alvin from the Chipmunks

1990 Welsh's jelly jar Tom and Jerry

 In these top cabinets.....

Those wire shelves really came in handy!!!

Some of my vintage Corningware that I got 43 years ago when first married and still use!!

Some of my everyday dishes including Corelle.......

Middle cabinets......

Corelle platters and more Corningware

 Most of my Tupperware.....

 Cabinets next to the refrigerator......

Dinner and other plates that I use for decorating and for family dinners......

Casseroles that Joe got for Free from Mohegan Sun Casino as a Comp Gift a few years ago......

 Everyday Corelle dishes

In the cabinets below the countertop......

Our silverware drawer......

In the cabinet below.......

Baking sheets and my cookie storage containers.......

Cooling racks and disposable cups and mugs for parties.......

Paper plates.......

I found it is so much easier to keep them in a Dollar Tree basket......

In the drawers next to the fridge.......

The "Junk" drawer.......

My Bread Box drawer......

I keep any bread we use, and we don't eat much bread, in a Tupperware bread container......

The bottom drawer is where I keep my everyday Kitchen linens......

I store all the Holiday and Seasonal ones with those decorations.....

I do not need to store my canned goods, dry goods, etc. in the small amount of Kitchen cabinets I have because when my Dad made our Patio into another room, I had him build me a Pantry Closet!!

Joe won't let anyone put anything away in this Pantry Closet so since he does all the grocery shopping, this is his baby to organize and he is very OCD about it, bellowing if someone puts something in the "Wrong" place!!!

Having my Dad build this closet was a God send as I have no idea where I would have put all this in my small Kitchen!!!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my very humble and simple organizational tips for my Kitchen cabinets....

It works for us!!

After organizing all the cabinets and drawers, even though it was much later in the season than I usually do so, I started to change a few things in the Kitchen for late Summer......

I brought in some Apple and Sunflower decor for Late Summer......

And did a bit of Apple Crafting!!!

I will be sharing all this in my next post on Wednesday!!!

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

You know I love your kitchen and your cupboards look very nice. Those gold leaf glasses are so pretty, and I too enjoy using vintage things regularly, whether it's glasses, pyrex, Tupperware or dishes. 💗💙💚 Joe has the pantry so well organized you can see what you need at a glance!

  3. Gosh, you are so organized! I did a huge purge when we gutting the kitchen around 2010. I got rid of so much stuff and really thought I had designed and organized for the rest of my life. A major group I got rid of was small appliances. Bread machines, ice cream machines, sandwich grills, waffle iron, etc. I think I had every kind available. They are getting pretty full again and it might be a good idea to empty them and start over. Love those Libby Glasses!

  5. Wow, those are some organized cupboards and drawers you've got there. I like the way you put your breadbox in a drawer. That was clever. But what I love most of all is that pantry closet. I need one desperately and we are figuring out how to build one into our kitchen.

  7. Debbie, you have really been busy and it all looks so nice and organized. I bet I would be surprised at some of the stuff in my cupboards if I got to cleaning them, but I can barely get what you see all the time picked up lately. One room at a time. The sunsets from your porch are really beautiful..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

  8. You're right about helper shelves. And yes, they went WAY up in price! I also like (but don't yet have) those pull-out shelves for low, deep cupboards. I might have to do those, too. When I got my stove and Rick painted the kitchen, we took out everything and a lot of the overflow went to goodwill or the basement. So far, I've still kept them tidy! (Tossing the tupperware and plastic storage helped. I swapped it for pottery bowls with tight covers and they serve double duty as food savers and storage.) Once they get clean it's a real incentive to keep them that way!

  9. Really enjoyed seeing your oh-so-organized kitchen. Maybe when it it NOT so hot here, I may get a bit more ambition; our church Christmas bazaar needs stuff for the White Elephant table!! I have the same Corning Ware mushroom/veggie casseroles as well at the blue cornflower ones. Most of my shelves have my original '89 plastic shelf paper--I feel better having seen yours!

  11. Such a great way to keep things organized! I love all your antique and vintage goodies from your gold leaf glassware to your jelly jars and your pyrex pieces too. I literally have to stop myself at almost every yard sale or estate sale from bringing more home because I love vintage dishes so much 😂 Hope your week has been a fun one, CoCo

  14. Great organizing, Debbie! I would love to have some of those wire shelves. I still use my old Corningware casserole dishes too! I have a few of the ones with the veggies on them, and they still look new. Sometimes I pick up a new one at a garage sale!

  15. I have some of those cartoon characters glasses too! What a trip down memory lane with those. I need to do this same project of cleaning out just not motivated to do it yet. Thanks for taking the time to share your posts each week. #HomeMattersParty
