Transferware and a "New" Tree Celebrating the Patriotic Summer Holidays in the Den.......

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I am going to share how I used transfersware as part of my Summer Patriotic decorations in the Den.....

But first, I want to Thank Ann, over at The Apple Street Cottage, for choosing my post, 2 Different Projects, as one of her features from last week's Party in Your PJ's Link Party!!

 Thanks so much, Ann!!

Please stop by and link up to this great party!!

I also want to THANK those that responded to my Last Post in which I mentioned that I may be stepping back a bit from POSTING......

I was truly touched and appreciated all of your kind comments...

To Judy, who gave me some "tough love".......I needed that!!

To Minnie and Nina, who poured their hearts out to me......Thanks so much and I was so touched that you let me know what reading my Blog means to you!

To Denise, who mentioned that it doesn't matter if the decorations are the same as last year's because she still enjoys seeing them but what she really likes are the personal stories that I share along the way.....Thanks for mentioning that as I do try to maintain that personal touch in my posts...

And to Jeanie who brought up that it is hard for readers to keep up visiting and reading 3 posts or more a week from one Blog, let alone several of them....great point that I haven't even considered!!

And to ALL the others who took the time to comment...I truly appreciated your kind words and input!!!

I have been blogging for a long time...11 years

And I go through these phases where I feel that I have nothing new to share that would interest anyone...

My decor style has not been "In Style" in a long time and it is so definitely NOT Farmhouse....

BUT I am now hearing a lot of talk about Cottagecore design.....

It is amazing how styles get a new name about every 20 years or so.....

Cottagecore, to me, is what was once called English Country, Victorian Country, Romantic Country, even Grandma Chic or Glam......

I find it interesting that they are say that the pandemic led to a quest for a more "Romantic" , cozy, comforting design using COLOR, greenery, florals, lace, texture, shelves, books, rustic vintage pieces even tea cups!!!

They are even saying that people are not going with the Minimalistic look anymore and that they want to be surrounded by things that they love or mean something to them....

Well, IMAGINE THAT!!!!!

"What goes around, come around" and that is the case with design.....

Only my style never changed.....

I know what I love and what makes me feel good when I walk into my home..

I may add an element or two of the new "trending" design but for the most part, I stick with what I have because that is what I love!!

Apparently, I was not the only blogger going through a Blogging crisis....

Fellow Blogger, Katherine, over at Katherine's Corner, was also feeling the same way and wrote about it in her weekly newsletter.....

She to received pretty much the same response as I did.....

You can read about it here in her post "With a Little Help from My Friends"

Katherine is going to continue, just as I will.....

And now moving on to this post, which I may add, is going to be a bit LONG.......

So grab a cup of whatever you like and have a seat for a bit....

I usually share the china cupboard area of our Den in 2 posts but I am doing it in one post this year.......

Most of it is the same as it was last year with an addition of a few new things....

The Den is decorated in a blue, ivory and burgundy color theme.....

After I packed away my Saint Patrick's Day decorations, I return the Den to "normal"

For the Spring, Summer and Fall, the Den is decorated using these colors with some Patriotic touches....

I also make use of my transferware collection in decorating....

The top of the china cupboard.....

The red and blue transferware fits in nicely with the color theme of the Den......

Burgundy, ivory and blue florals....

A Sugar and Creamer set.......

I used a few birds and eggs and a bird's nest......

A wooden garden glove  " A Thyme to Reap"...

The "America, the Beautiful wood block was bought a bit ago in Gabes on Clearance......

A birdcage with a bow made from Patriotic ribbon......

A tea cup and saucer in the same pattern as the sugar and creamer......

More red and blue transferware inside of the china cupboard......

In a previous post, I mentioned that Joe picked up this book of paper place mats at Ocean State Job Lot for $4.99

He used a Crazy Deal Gift Card so it was FREE!!

It has 4 different patterns of paper place mats inside of it......

This is I will be using for July 4th!!!

This one was the one I used for my Memorial Day tablescape.....

As soon as I saw this one, I knew what I wanted to do with it.....

I taped two place mats to the back of the china cupboard above the top shelf.....

I think it made a good back drop, don't you?

I did not tape more place mats behind the other shelves as there are boards that run across the back of the cupboard and the lace doilies from the shelves above hang down forming a back drop.....

And I was just too lazy to take everything out again to tape them on to the back of the china cupboard.....

 The middle shelf......

 The bottom shelf.....

To the left of the china cupboard.....

I bought this sweet girl at a church flea market a few years back......

 I added a few embellishments.........

On the table is a little something I made by gluing a candle to the wooden heart.....

Sitting on a chair is a sweet Patriotic Bear that was part of my neighbor Elly's Bear Collection.....

I also placed a flag alongside the Bear on the chair.....

I decorate underneath the china cupboard with the use of 2 vintage suitcases.....

I wove a set of battery operated light throughout the inside of the cabinet and the display underneath......

Again, I used some of my transferware collection of dishes......

I bought 2 of these Patriotic Beach Houses at Pier One several years ago.....

This guy is actually a Patriotic Santa but let's pretend he's a Beach Bum that is really overly dressed....

Hanging on the door that I leave open......

Is a Victorian styled reproduction Flute cover.....

And a July 4th plaque that I made.....

On a pedestal......

 Is the second Beach House.....

 On the bottom suitcase.....

Another wood block bought at Gabes.....

Let Freedom Ring....

Those flowers are made out of pant hose.....I bought a whole box of different colored ones at a church flea market many years ago for $1.00!!!!

They are stretched over wires......

Something NEW for this year is the Tree on the side of the china cupboard!!!

I used this Tree here in the Den for the first time at Christmas.....

I decorated it with all my Thomas Kinkade ornaments.....

I then decided to leave it up and decorated it for Winter in a Snow Bird theme.....

I then decided to be lazy and instead of packing it away, I left it up and decorated it for the Patriotic Summer Holidays.....

On the side of the suitcases.....

I really did not have any ornaments to use to decorate this Tree....

So I decided to use my mini toile tea cup and tea pot ornaments......

I also tucked some tea stained flags into the Tree.....

I re-worked 2 bows made from different ribbon into one bow for the top......

I have used the french script postmark ribbon in other bows in the Den and the Patriotic ribbon for the bow for the bird cage on top of the china cupboard.....

When I was cleaning out my Craft Room, I found several strands of ivory beaded garland which I cut and draped it over the tree branches in an icicle effect......

I did the same thing on the large Tree in the Living Room this year......

I bought the ornaments that I used on this Tree in Boscov's on clearance many years ago at 90% off so they were all about 25 -50 cents each!!!

I did use 4 stars that I took off  the larger Tree.....

Yes, I even threw a toile snow man in the Tree......

So I really threw this Tree together using decorations that I already had and a little imagination.....

I may make some ornaments using a few of those striped place mats......

I will have to see what I can come up with but for now, I don't think it looks too bad......

I hope you enjoyed seeing  the china cupboard all decked out for the Summer....

It will stay this way until November when I decorate the Den for Christmas......

The 14th was Flag Day....

Since we were supposed to get rain and some storms, I just put out a few flags to commemorate the day.....

In my next post, I will be sharing a bit more of the Den and Nelson Crest all decked out in her Patriotic finery.....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

  1. I am loving your decor. I wish that I had more patriotic decorations to put up in my house. I looked at some today at Dollar Tree, but just could not figure out what to do with any of it. LOL!

  3. Your transferware collection is gorgeous, but the red Old British Castles is my favorite. I have a couple of small platters which I love. As always it's a joy to see your many treasures in the cupboard.

  4. I've always been a cottage style girl. I love them all, farmhouse cottage, English cottage, romantic and Frech, but my daughter recently showed me the Cottagecore pictures. You're right, what goes around comes around. So funny. Love your transferware, especially the red. Big surprise, right? Hahaha!! Have a great week!!

  5. Well, Cottage Core is a new one to me. I guess I am out of the loop.

I just love your transferware. I have walked away from a few boxes at auctions, antique stores, garage sales and flea markets. I know if I start I will never stop and the four hutches I have are bursting. But there is one particular box from almost 8 years ago at a flea market that I still think about and really regret - it was pink. PINK. Almost a full set and I can't say the price because you will never speak to me.

So glad you are going to continue to share your pretties with us!

  6. This morning I came to blog land and saw you came to visit and I made a little squeak of happiness. My husband looked over at me like I was crazy. I saw you gave me a thank you by name and gave a squeal of joy. Husband said, “oh, you must be reading the lady that makes you happy.”
    Tehehe...you are famous around here☺️
As always everything is lovely! And I adore how you take us into your imagination. Overly dressed Santa beach bum. Love it!
    Thank you for sharing
    Blessings to you ❤️

  7. Thank you for sharing your den! I just LOVE it!!

You know…why do styles have to be labeled? My decorating style s like yours….unchanged and involving the use of items that make my family and me happy…isn’t that what matters after all?

I feel “comfy, cozy” when I view your posts…what a gift you have to make others feel that way when they come into your home (physically or virtually)!

  8. Thanks for the patriotic posts, I am sure loving them. Everything is beautiful. I don't know where you get your energy but I'm glad you decorate so the rest of us can enjoy. I am so glad you will not be stopping blogging. Cutting back is understandable though. I have been visiting your blog for years and I really do enjoy it. I really like the family stuff like when Joey drops by with pizza or the kids bring little Faye over. Thanks again for all the cozy posts and glad you're going to continue posting.

  12. Hi Deb, can you just imagine!! You and I and all our stuff, are in style again. I have been seeing the word Cottagecore around and wasn't too sure exactly what it meant. I think you can make any house a cottage by your dreams and your heart. Haven't you seen the most beautiful Victorian houses, dressed to the nines with ultra modern furniture? Not my style, but a lot of hard work has gone into it. I absolutely love your transferware. You have such beautiful pieces and the two colors together are exquisite..Happy June..xxoJudy

  14. I enjoy your red, white and blue decor every time so keep sharing it. Cottage Core is a new term to me as well. I will need to look it up. And especially thank you for sharing your story and the link to Katherine's story as well. It is good to know that I am not the only one struggling with these things and blogging as well. In fact I will be taking a break for the month of July - putting the posts on autopilot on the blog - as I just take time to do creative things, work on a design job at my son's church, and take a long awaited vacation. The link party will still be active, I just will be intentional at taking a creative break for a month. And I will have a ministry intern living with me for the month so I will enjoy time with her as well showing her the things around town. You have a wonderful heart Debbie. Thanks for sharing it. #HomeMattersParty

  17. I love the transferware and the tree is darling. As for blogging, I think we all go through phases where we want to give it up. Sometimes a short break is all that is needed. I've been seeing all the new 'styles' of decorating too and it makes me laugh. Everything old is new again!
