This was an interesting week to say the least.....

Tuesday night into Wednesday, I had a full blown IBS attack which I have not had for quite sometime...

I finally started to feel better on Thursday....

This week was also our son Joey's first week of work at his new job for the Scranton Diocese....

Yes, in the hometown of President Biden...

He got to meet the Bishop, toured the Rectory where the Bishop and several Monsignor's, who work for the Diocese in the Chancery Building, live, discovered a Prayer Garden on the side of the Cathedral and enjoys listening to the bells of the cathedral ringing at noon when he is outside taking a stroll!!

May I say that I never thought I would be saying these things!!!

Like Joey says " Life sure is Funny!"

He really likes his new job and everyone has been so nice and welcoming to him....

For right now, he gets to work from home on Fridays....

We think that he really lucked out with landing this job.....

We have had a lot of rain and cooler than average temps. which seems to be the norm here in NEPA for May....

I have been transplanting some perennials from the yard from the house next door into some of my pots as it is way too early to plant annuals safely here because of the threat of frost.....

Lamb's Ear

Hostas

Cushion Spurge

Missouri Primroses

Shasta Daisy that I grew from seed last year.....

I will keep them in these pots until it is safe to buy and plant annuals which will be around Memorial Day....

Then I will transplant them into my back yard and the flower bed by our Mailboxes that I maintain....

These 2 Morning Doves have set up residence in our yard and patio!!!

I think they spend the nights in our Patio under the chairs!!!

The phlox on our slope in front of our house are starting to bloom.....

As are the azaleas in the flower bed n top of the slope.....

And all my perennials in the back yard are starting to pop up.....

My Lilac Tree is also in bloom..

I finally finished all my Summer Patriotic decorating.....

Today, I will be sharing the year round Tree in our Living Room all decked out celebrating America!!!

This is how this area of our Living Room looks.....

I like to decorate the faux window with a seasonal wreath....

This is one I made some time ago and last year, I placed a Patriotic sign that I bought in Gabes on Clearance for $1.00 inside off it!!!!

Of course, I added a set of lights to it!!!

Underneath it , hangs 3 Plaques that I made.....

I used vintage styled tags and cards....

I have amassed quite a collection of Patriotic Ornaments over the years and even made quite a bit myself.....

These are some of the ones that I made.....

Patriotic Angels.....

These I made from coasters that Joe received after donating to various Veteran's groups.....

Paper mache stars

And Patriotic cards.....

Along with ornaments that I embellished with Patriotic stickers...

I started decorating the Tree with adding a set of blue lights....

I use a red, blue and silver tinsel garland bought a few years back at Dollar Tree....

I topped the Tree with a Patriotic centerpiece from Dollar Tree that reminds me of a firecracker...

Along with a bow I made from several Patriotic ribbons......

Stars and flags from Dollar Tree are tucked into the Tree....

Streamers of those different ribbons encircle the Tree....

At the top in the center, I hung a wooden heart.....

Along with a star honoring the Army in which my Dad enlisted during WWII...

I  also have a star honoring the Navy as 2 of my Dad's bothers were in the Navy during WWII...

You can see the tinsel garland in this picture.....

When cleaning out my Craft Room, I discovered a few strands of white beaded garland that I decided to cut in smaller strands and drape over the ends of the branches like "icicles".....

I also used some Patriotic Party Hat Favors from Dollar Tree as ornaments.....

I will let the rest of the pictures do the talking

At the bottom of the Tree, I hung another sign that I bought at Gabes on Clearance for $1.00!!

I wrapped a wired star garland around the entire Tree.....

I like to decorate the platform that the Tree rests on.....

I did things a bit differently on the platform this year.....

 On the left side...

I tucked red, white and blue flowers into a faux boxwood ball that I placed in an urn.....

Another sign bought on Clearance, a fire cracker that I made last year from toilet paper and paper towel rolls and an Uncle Sam Nutcracker.....

One of 2 Patriotic Bird Houses.....

The Bears were from my neighbor Elly's Bear Collection!!

Big and little Patriotic hats from Dollar Tree.....

A plate bought at Salvation Army

Paul Revere's ride

I used a vinyl tablecloth to cover the platform...

The right side

Uncle Sam and another Fire Cracker that I made out of toilet paper and paper towel rolls....

A floral arrangement that I did and tucked a Patriotic fan in the top of.....

There is also a string of battery operated lights woven throughout the display that I just realized I forgot to turn on!!!!

This Tree will stay decorated like this until after July 4th......

As will the rest of the Living Room......

In future posts, I will be sharing more of my Summer Patriotic decorations......

  4. Wow! You have such a patriotic home for the holidays! Love all your decorations as I grew up in a military family and love to decorate for Flag Day and Fourth of July! Your garden is always so lovely and I'm amazed at how many plants you have in your garden space. The phlox on your slope is beautiful. I bought a few more this spring to put in my front border and can't wait until it starts spreading! Hope you are enjoying Mother's Day!

  5. Hi Debbie - you never cease to amaze me with all your decor ideas and also with your lovely garden. So many photos to look at here today - I take almost no photos (except for several of our cats and a some of our grandgirls when they visit). My home decor never changes - except for Christmas decorations! Congrats too to Joey on his new job - it sounds pretty perfect to me and such a blessing to find work in these difficult times.

  6. I love all your patriotic decorations! The Fourth has always been one of my favorite holidays. We are doing an outdoor party here with all our vaccinated friends this year so I will be referring to this post for ideas! I think after the crazy year we all just survived and all the division going on... a celebration of this great country is in order. I am optimistic that much needed change is happening right now and the future is bright again. Thanks for the inspiration. Take care!

  10. I love putting up Patriotic decor but have never considered a whole tree. I will definitely need to think about that and make some plans. Your tree is beautiful and I can't wait to see the rest of the house. #HomeMatterParty
