Beginning to Look Like Spring and Easter......

 I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it...... 
 
I FINALLY felt like decorating for Easter.......
 
I honestly was enjoying the Winter and did not want to start to take down my Winter/Valentine's decorations.....
 
Even though we have had a few warm days in the 50's and a lot of Sun which melted the snow across from us.......
 
 
 
 
 
Since the Sun will not swing around to the front of our house until April, this is what our yard still looks like!!!
 
 


We are supposed to get up in the high 50's for a few days this week so I will take down my outside Winter decorations then......

I FINALLY received a Christmas package from a friend in Arizona who reads my Blogs!!!
 
 
LOL!!

 
She mailed it out on November 20, 2020!!

 
I thought for sure it was lost forever!!!
 
My friend, Patty, crocheted this beautiful scarf for me.....

Even though I have ordered Joe not to buy any decorations on Clearance, he did buy this in Big Lot's after checking with me.....
 
 
It was originally $18 and was marked down to $4.50 but with a $5 off $15 coupon, it was FREE!!!
 
I am going to paint out the hearts, leave the black and white checked fabric heart alone and maybe trim the edges with rope and use it on the front porch for Spring/Summer.... 

 
I have finished decorating the Living Room for Easter and now, I also finished the Dining Room too.....
 
Joe made his annual trip, taking the 7 foot pencil Tree from the Dining Room wrapped in a body bag, down to our storage shed where it is stored.....


 In the beginning of the week, I started the change over in the Living Room from this......
 
As it looked in the Fall......
 

 At Christmas.....


And for Valentine's Day.....


To this..... 


Not only did I decorate for Easter but I did all the Seasonal change overs from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer......

Last year, I bought 3 pairs of aqua drapes in Ollie's for $7.99 a pair plus I had a coupon for 15% off which took them down in price to under $20 for all 3 pairs....

I used the third pair to make the valances.....

 
I had several pairs of lace curtains that I bought at a yard sale for $1.00 a panel along with other types of the same lace curtains that I, myself, had bought in Sears many years ago......
 
I hung the peach lace curtains on the door......
 
Changing the look from this......

And peach lace curtains on the Living Room window 
 

 
I will pull them back as I did last year when we put the air conditioner in the window in May.....
 
And I changed the ivory lace curtains, that hang on the Living Room side of the widow dividers between the Dining Room and the Living Room, to more peach lace curtains.......
 
 
 
 Cleaning all the windows as I went along.....

I also changed out the gold chenille runners for a beige lace ones......

 
 
 
And I made peach lace toppers for tables from extra sets of the curtains......
 
 
 
 And ivory doilies for peach ones!!


So that was all my Spring/Summer changes in the Living Room.....
 
After I cleaned and did all of that, then I was ready to decorate for Easter.....
 
You can see that the Tree that stays up year round was once again stripped down..... 


I added several sets of pink LED lights, which tend to look a bit purple......
 
 
 And 2 different sets of egg garland along with pink shiny beaded garland......
 

And then I decorated the Tree with Easter ornaments that I have collected for many years...... 

 



But before I get to the Tree, I want to mention the Easter cross that I hung once again this year on the faux window.....
 

 I made this cross after buying the styrofoam base for it at an estate sale of a florist several years ago for $3.00!!

I used all Dollar Tree flowers as it took quite a few flowers!!!

 
I made a bow out of white deco mesh ribbon and added a set of lights to it......


 It actually matches the Tree.....



I still have to add my peach pillows which are still up in the attic and I have left over fabric from that 3rd set of drapes that I think I may use to make pillow covers with.......

Now back to the Tree......

This is the third year that I used a "green" Tree for Easter.....

For several years before last year, I used a white tree.....


 This white Tree was even featured in an article in the Huffington post!!

I think everything shows up better on it.....


Let's take a closer look at the Tree.....


I topped it off with a spray of faux grass and flowers with a metal Easter Egg......
 
 
I made the bow out of 3 different ribbons......


 An Easter Egg ribbon and aqua and purple deco mesh ribbon......

I have curled streamers of white, purple and aqua deco mesh ribbon coming down from the top of the Tree.....
 
 
 
 
 
 I collected Easter ornaments over the last 10+ years.....
 
 

I am going to let the pictures do the talking.....











 
I decorate the platform that this Tree stands on for each Holiday and Season along with the Tree....

 
This is the Bunny Patch.....

 
I bought this Bunny at a church flea market......

I bought this Easter bucket at Michael's for 90% off and I made the arrangement for it......

In the center is my childhood Easter Basket!!!

I wrapped white tinsel garland and a battery operated set of fairy lights around the handle.....

 
The purple and pink eggs and bunnies are also from my childhood......


Around the edge of the platform......


Is a set of Easter Egg lights and egg boxes that I embellished.....

    What a change! Spring has come to your house! I love the floral cross. That must have taken hours and hours.

    You had asked about how I got into the grandchild daycare business. By accident of course. When we were raising our five children, I paid for childcare for my oldest. When we bought our house, the furnace went out the day we moved in and we had to immediately take out a second mortgage. My husband worked rotating shifts with different hours, so I ended up getting a second job. I would take my daughter to daycare at 6:30 am, pick her up at 3:30, go home and change my clothes, give her a snack and drop her off at the evening sitter. My husband would pick her up there and put her to bed. Luckily when I was expecting our second child, my husband got a job as a plumber apprentice on the railroad paying more than all three of our jobs and I was able to stay home. In five years we had five children and his wages had been frozen since the day he started (the Reagan Years). No one can afford daycare for five children and luckily my husband was working from 7-3 those days. I worked 3-9 at our local library for 5 years, then the kids were all in school and I could get a full time job days.

    Our oldest grandchild was born in Florida and we only saw him twice his first year. When he was two, his parents moved an hour and forty five minutes away and found out they were expecting twins! I was laid off from my secretarial job a few weeks before mom went on bedrest so I moved in to help them out. After the twins were born, we would go up and stay for two days so mom could work those days in the less stressful ICU for some away time LOL.

    My mom passed from ALS and then my dad had a severe stroke. I ended up quitting my job to take care of him and his affairs. Our son's first child was born during my dad's last weeks. His mom found a part time job a few weeks after my dad passed and I agreed to watch him for a few hours a day. Well, she got offered full time, they had another baby, my youngest son got married and had a baby nine months later (they have 3 under 6 now) and then my daughter married and I was blessed with the second granddaughter. Her husband left her with a 3 year old daughter and a 3 WEEK old son, so we stepped in for this full time fifth grade teacher. And that is how I ended up with a house full of grandchildren.

    Grampa retired somewhere in there and he loves the kids and is very active with them. We can't help all these children and grandchildren financially, but we can offer to provide loving care for the grandchildren at no cost. Of course we keep telling each other that they grow up fast and will soon all be in school. I think that may finally be coming true. The youngest will turn two in July and we don't see any additional grandchildren in our future.

    Your Easter tree and cross are beautiful, Debbie. I love their pastel colors and ornaments and lights. Give glory to God in the highest!
    Our house looks like yours. We are north facing and the last house on our block to have the snow melt. I don't mind as I love snow and our lawn usually ends up to be the best on the blog from all the moisture it received all winter.

    You're right on top of things! My Easter usually comes out a couple of weeks before. But this year the snow is melting and I'm feeling a bit springy. I know -- it can change at any second! Lovely!

    It's all so gorgeous! This was the first place I visited this morning with my coffee. I was having such fun and commenting out loud on everything. My husband came down and said "you must be on Debbie's blog!" He knows me so well! I love your tree and the cross is just beautiful. Joe did a great job finding that sign too! I never saw it on any of Big Lots trips or I would have bought it even at full price! Thanks so much for brightening up my day! I love coming here!

    You have an amazing collection of ornaments. Easter ornaments are hard to find. I was going to put up our white tree for Easter and ended up taking down. It wasn't working for me. Maybe I'll get Bill to get one of the pencil posts trees down from the attic. In the meantime the bunnies are sprinkled about the house. That welcome bunny is a cutie. I can't believe you still have so much snow. It melts so fast down here. Your house is looking festive.
