A Trip Down Memory Lane......

  Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it......

Today, I decided to take you on a trip down Memory Lane with me....

In previous posts, I showed you how I organized decades of photos into plastic acid free storage cases that I bought at Michael's.....

I put photos that were not family photos into albums which could easily be disposed of when I am gone so my sons would not have to look through them, thinking there was family photos inside of them.....

And I was easily able to store all of these photos now in just 2 places.....

Click HERE and HERE if you missed these posts.....

I shared a lot of photos on my Face Book page while I was going through them...

I realize that not everyone is on Face Book and have been asked to share some here on my Blog.....

These are some photos of our townhouse when we first moved in when we got married and it was brand new in 1978 ......

And some of the changes we made as time went by....

The front of our house.....

The original rail road tie and rock retaining wall in front of my row of townhouses.....

At Christmas time, a few years later.......

Easter in the late 80's when we still had a bit of a front yard....

No trees....looking down the road toward the Apartment complex where my sons now live.....

This is when our HOA replaced that wall which had started to rot with a new retaining wall in 1991.....

Our Living Room in 1978.....

That sofa which as made by Flexsteel lasted almost 17 years....

Dining Room 1978

Those were the original chairs that went with Joe's Grandmother's Dining Room furniture....

Kitchen

1978

The appliances came with the house......

Before I had the counter bar built......

After I painted the cabinets "almond" in the 1990's....

And had the counter bar built.......

Powder Room 1978

Our Bedroom 1978

Shag carpeting that came with the house that we replaced throughout 2 years later....

Guest Room, later Joey's Bedroom, now Craft Room

Sitting Room, Jim's Bedroom, and now Sitting Room again

Enclosed Patio 1978

When we made the patio into the Den in the early 80's...Bar and all!!

Back Yard 1978

My Dad mixing concrete for a patio block

Back yard Patio that I laid with pavers.....

Lattice Patio built by Joe's Uncle Eddy with some help from my FIL...

It took up half the yard...

Some of the trips and vacations we took.....

Trips to the Pocono's for the weekends....

Weekends in the Lancaster/Reading area

Annual Vacation to the Jersey shore, Wildwood and Cape May and Margate

After my Dad passed away, we took my Mother with us almost everywhere we went.....

Atlantic City Trips to Caesar's several times a year and the Suites we got to stay in for free...

A $1600 a night Suite with a door bell.......in the early 1990's

We stayed for FREE!

The boys slept on those sofa's and they brought a cot in for my Mother.....

The large jacuzzi tub in the most amazing bathroom!!!

 Pool on the roof.......

DisneyWorld, Florida, early 90's....

Kennedy Space Center

Sea World

Universal Studios

Bates Motel from Pyscho

Niagra Falls, Canada. early 90's

My Mother and me on the Maid of the Mist before I got sick!!

Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Settlement 2000

That was the last family vacation we took.......

I made all my son's Halloween costumes.......They never wore a store bought one....

It rained this year and as my younger son Jim's Cousin It costume got wetter, the weight of the fur pulled the eye holes down and he tripped and rolled down a hill!!

Joey as Dr. Spock

I even made mine for a 1950's Dance sponsored by the Cub Scouts in which I was a Den Mother

And a few miscellaneous photos.....

The Boys with Ba Ba Barna, Joe's paternal Grandmother and the only grandparent I ever had.....

Joe dressed as the Easter Bunny at the annual Egg Hunt at the Silk Mill where he used to work!!!!!

Yes, that is Joe under that costume!!!

The boys decorating their own Christmas Trees in their rooms.....

And taking piano lessons on this small organ until we got them a larger one that we put in the Dining Room......

And of course, our sweet fur babies....

Cassie

Like Daddy, like Doggie!!

Cassie would smile when asked to!!!

Savanna

She would wait here by the door with her paws touching it starting at about 10 minutes before Joe came home......

Both Savanna and Cassie would lay here on the steps and look out the door.....

Sometimes I think I can still hear them.......

I hope you enjoyed my trip down Memory Lane......

In my next post, I will be sharing how I decorated the Den China Cupboard area for Saint Patrick's Day this year......

  7. Love seeing your old photos Debbie. They bring back some of my memories of our townhouse from the early 80's. We also had the harvest gold appliances and dark cabinets. The wall telephone and shag carpet. We also took our son on some of the same trips as we live in Maryland. Thanks for sharing.

  9. What beautiful memories. What I noticed as I've been through the family photographs on both sides is the change in film over the years. There is a neat progression in film over the years from the old black and white pictures to the instant pics we have, to the interesting look of pictures from the 70's and early 80's that have almost a haze around them. I don't know the word I want but they don't have the crispness of today's pictures perhaps do to better lighting, flash, etc. I don't know but I LOVE looking at older pics because you get a different sense of time.

  10. Wow Debbie! What a lovely trip down memory lane. There's something about old pictures that I love. Maybe it's the memories associated with them. I love looking at old pictures and re-living all those beautiful memories. Priceless!
Thanks for sharing these at the #HomeMattersParty.
And I love how neatly you have organized all your photos.

  11. Aw, what a blast from the past. I need to go through mine...sure can see how your 'taste' morphed...over the years. We started in a Victorian house, so I gathered my eclectic style immediately. Wonderful family photos! And not the boys are old men...same here! Hugs, Sandi
