3 Day Winter Storm Pictures

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it......

This post was supposed to be about how the rest of our Living Room looks decorated for Valentine's BUT I thought I would share pictures of our 3 day Snow Storm today.......

Yes, the 3 day snow storm that blanketed our area with a lot of SNOW!!!!

In my last post, I did share 2 of the Valentine's Trees in the Living Room and how I decorated them, even making a few new ornaments......

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

I want to Thank to Melissa, over at Little Frugal Homestead, for choosing my post, Winter Birds and Holiday Harlequin in the Kitchen,  as one of her features from last week's Farm Fresh Tuesdays Blog Hop!!

 Thanks so much, Melissa!!!

I want to CONGRATULATE our Great Niece Cortney, who in her first semester at King's College in the Nursing Program, made the Dean's List!!!

And she accomplished this even while working part time!!

Here she is playing hockey on the ice ring she built in their yard!!!

How amazing it was seeing our Great Nieces, Cortney, Caitlin and Carly, all featured in Advertisements for local Businesses!!!

This is a picture that was used in an advertisement for the Ski Resort, of Cortney and her sister Carly, skiing at Montage Mountain Ski Resort.....

And this is a picture of their sister Caitlin that was used in an advertisement for The Conservatory of Dance where Caitlin takes Ballet lessons.....

Joe and I are so proud of these girls and their Mom, Renae...........

We do miss not  being able to see them as much as we would like to during this Pandemic....

We were predicted to get 12- 18 inches of snow in our area starting on this past Sunday and ending on Tuesday....

Well, they were pretty much right on the money as we measured 14 inches in our back yard but I think it was maybe about 16-18 inches as there was a lot of blowing of snow.....

Tuesday morning, after most of the snow had fallen, I could not wait to get out and shovel!!!

Yes, call me crazy but I do LOVE to shovel!!!

When my  Dad suffered a disabling construction accident injury, at the age of 13 years old, I became responsible for not only cutting the grass at my childhood home but doing all the snow shoveling on my parent's property.....

My Mother tried to help me but she was the only one working to support our family...full time in a Dress Factory in the Garment Industry.....

So I did not want her to get hurt as she was in her mid 50's then so I would not allow her to help me.....

I would shovel their long front sidewalk and the entire driveway and then go sleigh riding down the hill in front of our house.....

I continued to take care of snow removal for my parents until I got married at 20 years old....

I always joke that when I got married, my Dad bought a ride on Lawn Mower and a Snow Blower!!

I then continued to shovel at my own home as with working night shift, I was home during the day so I would have everything shoveled by the time Joe came home from work.....

It is something that I do enjoy doing....

I not only shoveled in front of our home after this past storm......

But I also shoveled in front of 6 of my neighbor's homes.....

I did the steps down to my next door neighbor's, along with the sidewalk, as he just came home from the hospital.....

And I also did the rest of the sidewalk in front of 5 other neighbor's houses.....

Our neighbors Tom, Ed and Melanie, all chip in and have been taking turns shoveling , along with us, in front of everyone's houses so I wanted to return the favor.....

I also cleaned our steps from the parking lot up to the sidewalk a bit better since they were last done the night before.....

One of the tools of my trade is this child size shovel which we bought last year, replacing one we had from when my son's were young.....

This children's shovel is the exact size of the steps and makes it so easy.....

I then shoveled out our back patio.....

Not to shabby for an old lady who had knee replacement surgery and has moderate scoliosis of her back with 5 compression deformities!!!!

The day we have to depend on someone else to shovel for us will be the day this house goes up for sale and I finally move to the Apartment Complex where both of our sons live where everything is done for you including shoveling......

I am so glad that I keep the front of our house decorated for Winter.....

I love how it looks with a bit of Snow.....

I will let the pictures do the talking....

While I was shoveling, Joe was working on cleaning off our car so he could move it when  the plow came to clear our parking lot......

And he also cleaned off our neighbor's who is the one who just came home from the hospital.....

Even in snow, he is still a Penguins fan!!

We have a great system on our Court where everyone from across the Court moves their cars over ot our side or on the road.....

Then the plow will plow that whole side out......

Joe cleaning behind our car so he can move it across to the other side so that the plow can plow our entire side out......

Joe also moved our neighbor's car over......

The plow then plows out our side and no one has to shovel out their 2 parking spaces....

You can see Joe and our neighbor, Ed to the right of the picture.....

A meeting of the minds....

And now a bit of Snow Scenery......

When I took this picture of the side of our road......

I did not see the red cardinal in the tree until I downloaded the picture to the computer to edit it.....

These pics were taken from my bedroom window and you can see the mountains across the river from us......

The VA Hospital on top of the hill......

Trees in our back yard.....

And front yard.......

Garden Art in the Snow in the back yard......

The Snow Man is almost covered......

"Let It Snow"

The wrought iron table and chairs.....

My bird bath planter looks like a cake!!

After I shoveled out the walkways.....

Quite a bit of snow on our awning in the back.....

And the icicles that formed as it started to melt a bit.....

Joe got the snow broom that we keep in the back for just this reason to knock some of the snow off the awning......

He is so proud of himself, isn't he?????

This morning, Wednesday, we went to leave out our little Grand Pup, Faye, because Jim and Danielle are at work.....

I took these pictures this morning.....

Icicles hanging off the gutters above our front porch....

Leads to an ice build up below and on the sidewalk.....

So I got out my ice chipper and after softening the ice up with some Ice Melt, I got to work chipping all the ice and shoveled it off the sidewalk......

We took these pictures on the short drive back up the hill to our house.....

My sons were never able to sleigh ride down this hill, like I did at my parents on the hill in front of their house, as our Road Department really takes good care of our road......

We live up at the top of this hill....

Our Court.....

The front of our house....

And oddly, once again, I saw this in the tree in my neighbor's yard on the end of our row of townhouses.....

I guess someone in Heaven is watching over us.....

Did I mention that we have more snow predicted for Friday and Sunday?????

Winter is far from over here in NEPA and this Winter reminds me of the Winters we had when I was a child when there was always snow on the ground.....

Signs of Spring around here will not be seen until April, at least.....

But I am good with it!!

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. I enjoyed looking at all of your snow photos. It's a lot of work shoveling everything when you own a house. You and Joe did a great job getting everything cleaned up. We got about 17 inches of snow!! I'm so glad that we have some melting going on today. I am NOT looking forward to anymore storms this weekend! Take care Debbie and stay safe.

  4. Gosh that cardinal is just gorgeous! I wonder who came to visit?

I used to like to shovel. Actually my husband and I made a bit of money when we were dating in high school. Once a co-worker of my mom's called when we were off school and asked if we could shovel her driveway. We went over and I think the rest of her neighborhood paid us to shovel all their sidewalks and driveways too! Unfortunately I had several bouts of pneumonia and bronchitis in my 20's and suffered some lung damage and scarring. When I take deep breaths (like while shoveling) in the cold air, it just burns through my lungs and I am at the doctor within days. I was blessed with two daughters and three sons who kept us shoveled out for many years. We replaced them with a fancy snow blower! Now that my husband is retired, he does several houses and driveways around the neighborhood. He will skip houses where he knows there are teenagers on the couch playing video games.

  5. Oh lucky you with all that snow. So much of it too. I love winter and I wish we'd get some here. But sadly, not in the forecast just yet. Good job on all that shoveling. It's good exercise, be careful though. I love that last picture with the cardinal in the tree. Congratulations to Cortney!

  7. Wow!! You are a shoveling machine!! All I kept thinking was, "what about the knee??""...but you did a great job. I am not a fan of snow and we got about 17 or 18inches, too. Thankfully my husband loves his toys, so the snowblower came out and he cleared it all away. It looks pretty today, but if it doesn't snow the rest of the season, I'd be ok with that! Ha!! Take care!

  8. Wow, Debbie. Now THAT is snow! I am stunned. And I have to say that although I know it is such a lot to handle, it really is beautiful. Your porch looks so pretty with that blanket of snow kissing all the pretties! Looks like that one will be with you for along time!

  9. You REALLY got dumped on!
We got only a foot, and everything is much prettier now.

  10. Beautiful pictures Debbie! I was thinking about your knees with all that snow removal; how sweet are you to help so many of your neighbors out. You guys have a great system going there! Thanks for sharing with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home. Pinned.

  11. Oh my Lord ! If this isn't a WINTER WONDERLAND, nothing is ! I guess your knee did well with all that shoveling, my friend.
In Madrid it snowed just like where you are and there, it never snows, except in the mountain. There were people skiing in the parks, very awesome !!
    Keep well and safe Debbie,

  12. Oh my goodness! I feel like such a SLUG! I hate to shovel & sometimes I even ignore our sidewalk unless I know someone is coming. (A rare occurrence these days.) I am SO grateful for the man who plows the driveway if we get over 3" of snow.
I love the LOOK of snow but not the reality!

    1. Jeannie,
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I do love to shovel...good exercise...And I want to keep our sidewalk clean as there is a lot of delivery people using it as my neighbors get a lot of deliveries and I am very fearful of someone falling...Stay safe, healthy and happy!!

  14. Oh, so much snow! Beautiful scenes of your winter wonderland. So nice that you shoveled all the walkways and that everyone takes their turns. Congratulations to your grand-niece on making it on the dean's list. Beautiful girls, you must be so proud. I love your Valentine's and all your hearts! That's quite a collection! When it snows here we don't get the road plowed - we just make tracks because we live on a private mountain and the county won't come up here. We have to stock up if we have snow in the forecast in case we are stranded. My neighbor does have a tractor with a plow and sometimes he will plow a track out. It's nice to have good neighbors :) Stay warm and cozy and hope you are not too sore from all that shoveling! Sending hugs xo K

  15. I don't know why but this made me teary eyed. Your snow is beautiful but you're beautiful as well. You're so sweet to shovel the walk for everyone. Your neighborly system is wonderful and genius. I miss the snows of my childhood. It was in the forecast for this week but we didn't get any. We rarely do but I always hope for some. I'll be featuring this at our next Keep In Touch.

  17. Wow! I loved seeing all the pictures of the snow Debbie! We have had our share the last couple of days and we are definitely not used to it! Thank you as always for sharing with Charming Homes and Gardens.

  18. Debbie, I love snow - but would never venture out unless absolutely necessary. I am petrified that I might fall and break my hip ! I am in awe of your strength. At this age, you actually shovel your yard !! Wow - that's commendable. The only reason we are living in a condo townhouse, is so that we have snow shoveling and gardening services provided at a monthly cost. I have several issues with my back, including scoliosis, spinal stenosis and 4 vertebrae degeneration. Several other health issues due to which I dread, falling, getting hurt and being incapacitated - especially from my craft and diys. You are a real brave woman Debbie.
Thank you for sharing with us at Meraki Link Party.
