Winter Crafting and a Bit of Snow

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it......

Merry Christmas to those celebrating Russian Orthodox Christmas Day Today......

We have a large population here in NEPA of descendants of Eastern European Immigrants and many of them still celebrate what is known in this area as "Russian" Christmas.....

It usually occurs within a day or two of the Catholic Church's Feast of the 3 Kings or Epiphany which is January 6th.....

Many in this area still do not take down their Christmas decorations until then......

Since the Catholic Church officially celebrated Epiphany on Sunday, January 3rd, this year, I started the change over from Christmas to Winter/Valentine's decor in and outside of our home......

I call it a change over because I do not take down a lot of my "Christmas" decorations and Trees especially those that can be used for Winter decor.......

I wanted to re-work the Winter wreaths that I made a few years back for the front porch.....

This is one of the 2 wreaths.......

I decided to take this wreath apart as I had wired 2 wreaths together to make it.......

This is the other wreath......

And now this is my "new" Winter wreath for the front door......

I made a new bow from 2 different ribbons I already had, shopping my craft stash......

I also freshened up the paint on this metal sign.......

I painted these cardinal ornaments that Joe bought for half price after Christmas......

I also added some large pine cones and other greenery picks to add depth......

Here is what it looks like on the front door......

And this is what the other wreath now looks like......

I made another bow out of the same ribbons I used for the other wreath.....

And I wired in 3 of the pine cone stems that I took off the original front door wreath.....

I re-positioned the "Let It Snow" sign that used to be held by a resin Penguin that broke apart a year or so ago......

I had enough ribbon to make one more Bow that I used to top off the Tree in the corner of the Front Porch .........

I re-purposed the ribbon that I took off both wreaths and made new bows with it.......

I hung one from the Front Porch light.....

Made a bow with just one of the ribbons for here......

And I switched out the center bow here on the railing for a new one........

I stuck to one of my Goals for 2021 that unless absolutely needed, I will not shop for anything new......

Joe bought the cardinal ornaments in 2020.......

I am sure the Amazon Delivery Guy was very confused when he actually delivered something to our house and not my neighbor's the other day......

My son, Joey, gifted me an Amazon Gift Card for Christmas and while re-working these wreaths, not one but 2 of my Full Size Glue Guns broke...

I had them for many years.....

So I thought that was a good opportunity to look for a nice industrial strength Glue Gun and I had Joey order this beauty for me......

 I like the stand..........

That you can detach the cord and that it came with 12 glue sticks and 3 finger protector shields....

That it has an off and on switch and that you can set it on 80 or 120 watts.....

And that it has a copper nozzle...

Can't wait to use it......

I still have $23 on the gift card so I will be looking for something else to buy.....

Sunday, we got about 4 inches of snow mixed with ice so Monday morning, I could not resist taking pictures of Nature's Beauty!!!!!

My front yard......

Nothing prettier than Snow sticking to the Trees.......

That morning, we went to leave our Grand Puppy Faye out as Jim and Danielle were at work......

While playing with Faye, she lost another tooth!!!

I am holding it in my hand and YES, it was no easy feat for me to get up off that floor after playing with her!!!!

Since we now have a Grand Puppy, I had to come up with "Grandparent" names......

I never like the traditional names that many in our area use so I looked for inspiration from my Blogger friends from all over the Country.....

Since I always like to pride myself at being different, I decided that I will be called "Mimi" , breaking a 3 generation tradition of being called "Grammy"

And Joe will be called "G Pop"!!!!

How cool is that!!!!!

I loved some of the names that you have chosen for yourselves even GiGi, Duchess and Doll!!!!

I took a few pictures on the 2 minute drive back to our house.......

This is the view from Jim's front door......

I took this picture in our car, looking ahead at the hill that leads to our house with the mountains behind my development.......

The mountains with snow on them , shrouded with fog......

 Our Court......

These are the woods on the one side of our row of townhouses.....

I love SNOW and so far, this Season, we have had more snow then last year with the possibility of more predicted on Tuesday!!!!

I have already changed over our Front Porch and Yard from Christmas to Winter decorations which will stay out until at least the beginning of March.......

  4. So lucky with all that snow. We get snow here, but not nearly enough. I loved all those snow pictures but especially the first two, they looked like Christmas cards.

  5. How wonderful to see how you have adjusted the Christmas decor to Winter. It all looks beautiful as does your amazing snow pictures. The snow on the trees is a particular delight. I have an industrial glue gun which is wonderful but it is not great with miniatures so it might be worth buying a smaller one as well, hope that helps.

  6. Hi Debbie, loving your Cardinal ribbon, that's adorable. We've taken down so much outside it is a bit dreary. I will have to follow you and get busy and come up with something! Hugs, fun post and your trees are gorgeous, we had ice and then snow and the trees hung on to the white for 5-6 days, it was so pretty! Sandi

  12. Holy cow - that industrial sized glue gun you got from Amazon looks like a weapon a comic book super-heroine would use to defeat alien invaders - maybe by just gluing them all together in one big mound! You could probably build your own Empire State Building with it. I love the photos of the snow-frosted trees, shrubs and branches. Just so beautiful. I adore cardinals. I covet your cardinal-inspired wreaths. Every Christmas I pull out my cardinal plates, cardinals in winter prints that replace other prints on the walls, placemats, and runners. I also have a small (less than 2 ft. tall) cardinal-themed artificial tree that goes on the kitchen breakfast bar countertop. I'm one of those old-fashioned folks who doesn't even think about taking down her Christmas decorations until January 6th has come and gone (and sometimes long past). I actually started taking my decorations down this year on January 7th. It usually takes me a good 4-5 days to get it all done, as I take my good nature's time to do so, LOL.

  13. Debbie, your snow soaked trees look like a dream. Absolutely precious ! You are blessed to live in such a picturesque surrounding. I love snow as well. We are also embracing ourselves for a blizzard this weekend in Ontario.
Wont your porch decor be destroyed in the snow ? Debbie, Your glue gun is really good. I like that it has a nozzle, stand, temperature control and finger protectors. I have been searching for a good glue gun too. What brand is it ? If you dont mind me asking, which site in Amazon, did you buy it from ?
    Much love
