I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

"The Forest and The Trees": A Winter Wonderland in the Den

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it......

Today, I will be sharing part of my Den decorated for Winter....

But fist, Thanks to Kristie , over at Love My Little Cottage, for featuring my post, How 20 Years of Chronic Health Issues Helped Me Through the Pandemic, from last week's Little Cottage Link Party!!!!

Thanks so much, Kristie!!

Please stop by and link up to this wonderful party!!

Pizza is very popular in this area and I know that in other areas of the Country, it is not quite so plentiful as it is here in NEPA.....

Last Friday, we were treated by our son to pizza at one of our many "Mom and Pop " Pizza places, The Dough Company.....

Had a coupon for 2 pies for $16.99!!

There is no beating that and it was so good!!

On Saturday, since we were experiencing low temps in the 20's for the past few mornings, I made Turkey Bone Broth Soup......

Not only does it warm one's body but it warms one soul too!!!

In my last post, I shared how I converted the front of our house over from Christmas to Winter decor.....

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Today, I will be starting my tour of the inside of our house changed over from Christmas to Winter/Valentine's......

The Den is the only room in our townhouse that I decorate solely for Winter.....

Living in NEPA, our Winters last well into April at times.....

I will now leave this room this way until the end of February at least.....

The name of this post is A Winter Wonderland with this part being the Forest and the Trees......

Get the play on words from "the Forest through the Trees"?????

Aren't I clever??????

This area is what I call the "Forest".......

This is the area where I spend all my evenings as Joe and I no longer share similar interests in TV......

Across from where I sit, is the door to what is left of our storage room after making the small patio of the back of our house into the Den......

I replaced Christmas florals with Winter greenery......

Hung a Winter wreath I made some years back on the Storage Room door......

And a cute Snow Man sign from Dollar Tree below it......

This area was at one time part of a large storage area.......

My Dad took out the wall so that the Den I wanted would be larger.....

Last year, I tried an experiment with packing away Christmas in this room by packing it away in the tubs that the Winter decorations came out of rather then pulling out all the Christmas tubs from the Den in addition to all the Winter decorations tubs......

I do leave a good amount of Christmas things out that can be looked at as Winter decor too so I find it is easier to then pack Christmas away all at once in it's appropriate tubs when I will be taking down Winter decor and changing this room back to "normal"

Above the TV, I replaced a Christmas swag with a Winter one that I took out of the Powder Room.......

I kept up the Thomas Kinkade Christmas cards that I taped over the pictures on the walls.......

And I decorated this area with Winter Owls!!!!!!

I made the paper Trees out of music sheet paper.......

I left out bottle brush trees......

Added snow balls and pine cones.....

Creating an Owl sanctuary in a Winter "Forest".......

Snow birds on the TV stand......

In the corner on the end table........

2 more framed Thomas Kinkade cards depicting Winter scenes......

This is the place where a few Snow Men live in the "Forest"

More bottle brush trees and a tree I crafted using wooden ice cream spoons.......

 A few Snow Men..........

I left out the Snow Men under this cloche from Christmas.......

I moved this battery operated tree here from the Living Room.......

 Added more Winter items.......

"Wanted: One Magic Hat"

One ornament snow man hat on the table and a larger "Magic" hat on the top of the chair.......

I left the greenery in the tin pocket there from Christmas.......

Above my chair.......

Dishes that I bought last year at Gabes on the shelf....

That depict a Winter scene and another bottle brush tree......

Winter mica coated birds.....

Snow Man ornaments hang from the sconces......

More Winter greenery and trees......

And a pair of Winter birds......

A very dapper looking snow man sitting on the top of my chair......

 The back door......

A large snow flake and garland hung on the valance.....

And a wreath I made using a snow man that I bought at a Craft Fair hangs on the door.......

And now for one of the Trees in the "Forest"......

I changed over the 4 1/2 foot table top Tree from Christmas......

To a Winter Snow and Ice Tree......

After stripping it down, I added a set of icicle lights ....

 And icicle garland......

 Then gold glittered pine cones......

Large snow flake and snow ball like ornaments......

Pine cone like ornaments on gold and silver.....

And some with pine cones painted on them.......

And then added snow men, deer, owls, gold birds and a bunch of Winter like ornaments that I have collected over many years......

I finished off the Tree with snow balls, clear acrylic snowflake and icicle ornaments and a white wired snow flake garland wrapped around it.....

The Tree is topped off with an iridescent white deco mesh bow.....

After I initially took the pictures for this post, I found a crystal beaded pick that I tucked into the top of the Tree, along with Victorian pheasant feathers......

I will let the remainder of the pictures do the talking......

I will be sharing the "Village" under the Tree in my next Post, It Takes a Village or More"

Next to the Tree on the ottoman......

More Snow Men, a sled and a deer left out from Christmas......

The larger Snow Man was from my neighbor Elly's Snow man Collection.....

In keeping with the "Forest" theme......

On the shelves between the windows are white Winter birds and a child who just built a huge snow ball......

I decided to keep up this Tree over by the china cupboard......

For Christmas, I decorated it with all my Thomas Kinkade ornaments......

I stripped it down, leaving the unique Tree topper and cotton ball picks.....

I used ornaments that I had previously used on my Winter Snow and Ice Tree......

And turned this Tree into a Winter Snow Bird Tree......

I used snow frosted pine cone ornaments......

Thatched bird houses.....

And birds that matched the bird houses.....

 White snow birds......

An owl and a bird's nest or two.....

Clear acrylic snow flakes from Dollar Tree.....

White tree and clear icicle ornaments bought at Dollar Tree......

Small white mitten ornaments.....

And wrapped it with white snow flake wired garland......

So glad that I decided to leave this Tree up........

And I added another Tree to the "Forest".......

The wall Tree I found in my neighbor Elly's attic when cleaning out her home for her sons......

I decorated it with pine cones, owls and snow flakes all bought at Dollar Tree.....

And hung a Snow Man ornament from the bottom of the Tree......

Underneath it on a small table between the computer armoire and my Victorian Doll House, is yet one more Tree.....

Well, that completes my Tour of the "Forest and the Trees" in the Winter Wonderland that I created in the Den.......

I hope you enjoyed seeing how you can leave out a little bit of Christmas to carry that "glow" into the Winter months.....

In my next post, I will be continuing my Tour of the Den, sharing how it also " Takes a Village or More" to create a Winter Wonderland.......

  1. You have created a winter wonderland!!! My husband and I don't watch the same television shows either. But he usually falls asleep by 8 p.m. so I get control of the remote. LOL He won't go to bed because he is just "resting".

  3. I was so excited when I saw you had a winter post up! I got myself a nice glass of wine and settled in with my laptop. I've had so much fun browsing through your winter wonderland. It's all just absolutely gorgeous! I am pretty sure we have many of the same owls and birds too. No surprise but you know what they say about "great minds!" You made my evening Debbie! Have a great rest of the week!
