Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
In my last post, I shared a late Summer update on my back yard Cottage Garden, including all the things that went wrong this Season because of the awful record breaking heat and humidity we had this Summer.....
Click HERE if you missed that post.......
But first, some Personal Notes....
On Saturday morning, I got ambitious and baked a double batch of Zucchini Bread which yielded 6 loaves.....
I left one out because our son, Joey, enjoys it but Joe won't even consider trying it....
The rest I froze as I will be giving a loaf or two to my Great Niece Cortney because she likes it and now is the time when I make it to freeze and use for the upcoming Holiday Season.....
Joe finally broke down and got rid of his "Dumb" Flip phone as he calls it......
Poor Joey was trying to explain different things on it to a guy who can barely turn on our computers!!!
I am keeping my flip phone because since I stopped working, I have to constantly dig it out of my purse ( where I keep it) to recharge it because it keeps dying due to lack of use......
I used the money I would have spent on a Smart phone for a Lap Top instead as I rarely use the phone even when I leave the house......
I do not like being available to people 24/7 and I sometimes shut the phone off when I go out so I will not be bothered.....
I guess our phone bill will be more than $28 a month now.....
Joe made his pizza for Dinner on Saturday......
Tasting the pepperoni.....
Joey in the background......
Joe and Joey ate it and I had a sandwich and one slice because even though I like pepperoni, it does not like me......
Otherwise, not much is new since my last post......
As I mentioned in my last post, I took advantage of the reprieve we had from the awful heat and humidity that we have been having all Summer long and cleaned up the Back Yard, Patio and even the Front Porch....
Today, I will be sharing how the back Patio and Front Porch looks this late in the Summer after a good cleaning......
With the wider angle on my new camera, I can take better pictures of our tiny back yard.......
I would have liked to have been able to spend more time out here on the Patio this Summer but I pretty much felt physically ill every time I walked outside in this horrific heat and humidity......
Since the back yard gets the Sun from the morning until around 4pm every day in the Summer, I do have 2 umbrellas, in addition to the awning, trying to create a little shade in the Patio area.....
And to protect the Den from heating up too much from the Sun blaring down......
All of the flowers that are left on the Patio now are Impatiens......
They have down well in the shade of the Patio awning......
This one is in the corner on a plant stand.....
I swept away spider webs and then wiped down the walls.....
I moved everything off the Patio......
And swept and ran the sweeper over the rugs......
Impatiens always do well here.....
I removed and cleaned everything hanging on the back wall of the house.....
Cleaned the back door......
This is what I call the "Bump Out" section......
Several years ago, I extended the Patio using pavers as we have our Electrical wiring under ground just off the Patio.....
This way, should need be, the pavers can easily be lifted up and jack hammering through any concrete will not be needed.......
I also extended this section out to accommodate the chair and table and the umbrella base, using pavers.....
I also did a deep cleaning over on this side......
I had moved some of the pots that were on the Patio out into the yard to fill in spots where I cut back some perennials.....
I like to see the reflection of my Cottage Garden in this mirror that I bought for $5.00 at a yard sale.....
This hanging basket has done really well....
I keep the other hanging pot on the other side of the Patio open in case the Morning Doves decide to nest in it again.....
As this one below it has also done......
My Fairy Garden on the edge of the Patio......
The outdoor mat that I bought last year for $10 in Ocean State Job Lot has faded a bit from the intense Sun light hitting it.......
But next year, I will just turn it around and put the slightly faded part to the back......
I hope I will be able to get some more reading time in while enjoying the Front Porch.....
The Front Porch will stay this way until Labor Day when after that I will decorate it for Fall and Halloween......
Soon the Sun will no longer swing around to the front of our townhouse giving us stunning Sun Sets like this.....
The sky was even pink over across our parking lot opposite from the Sunset......
These were taken from our back yard where in September, this will be the only place to see the Sunset......
As the Sun will not be swinging around to the front of our house until April......
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Despite the heat, your flowers are still flourishing. The only flowers that work for me are geraniums and marigolds since our planting areas are full sun, all day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful garden, so full of blooms in the heat and all.
ReplyDeleteI love all the decor too, it makes a very happy and cheery place for your home and family. Your last pics are amazing !
Hope all is well with you and yours.

What delightful post!Looooove!
ReplyDeleteLove the garden redo. Thanks for the sunset pictures truly lifted my spirits. Zucchini bread sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny my FIL has always been into tech my MIL not so much. A couple of years ago they ended up giving up their flip phones for smart phones. FIL not so into it MIL LOVES it and is the first piece of tech she has truly embraced. She texts us all, she looks stuff up on the Internet, etc. It is funny what tech will work for some.
I am responding here to your comment as I tried to do so on your blog but I could not since it stated I needed to be a member....
DeleteJoe is not tech literate at all and had fought tooth and nail to maintain that but he is realizing that that was a mistake..
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and for letting me know that you did by leaving a comment!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
Hugs,
Debbie

Gorgeous flowers and I love how colorful everything is on your porches. In Texas, the heat has been brutal the last couple of weeks. I am so looking forward to fall-like weather next week.
ReplyDeleteRHill3,

So glad you can enjoy the back patio for a few more weeks now that most of the heat of summer is fading. As always your backyard is very colorful and pretty. #HomeMattersParty
