I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

Some New Things in the Kitchen...

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Before I start to show you my Fall and Halloween decorating, there are a few more posts that I also want to share with you.....

This is one of them.....

But first I want to Thank Leanna, over at Faeries and Fauna, for featuring my post, Dollar Store Dabbling, from last week's Waste Not Wednesday party!!
Thanks so much, Leanna!!

Please stop by and link up to this wonderful party!!

Before I started to give the Kitchen what my Mother called a good "Fall House Cleaning" and decorating it for Fall and Halloween, I added a few things that I recently bought to the Kitchen......

You may remember that I bought this cute metal sign on one of our shopping excursions......
I paid a mere $8.00 in a co op shop.......

In the Spring, I shared this sign on the Kitchen and a feeble attempt of mine at Chalk Board art......
I could barely master doing the lettering on this sign!!
So when looking around the house, trying to come up with somewhere to put my new sign, I came up with this!!!!
Yes, I buy things because I love them as soon as I see them and then I find some where to put them once I get home with them.......

I have walked away from too many things, only to kick myself in the butt when I got home, wishing I would have bought that item......
So lesson learned, if I like it, I buy it and I will find a place for it!!

This is a perfect example of that philosophy because I never thought of doing this while in the store where I bought this cute sign!!
I cleaned the chalkboard off and simply used a glue gun and a few dabs of E600 glue to adhere the metal sign to the wood sign!!
I like the way it looks......

You may remember this is how the wood sign looked before I painted it.....
Actually, I have a sign just like this that I did not paint and I will be using it for the Fall....

Why do I have 2 of these and where did these come from???

I always love telling this story because it is one that does not happen too often...

Our local Red Lobster down the street from us was remodeling about 15 years or so ago and had a yard sale in the parking lot, selling things that they wanted to get rid of before the Remodel!!

I never heard of any other restaurant doing this, did you?????

I pick up the "Galley" sign, realizing it will be perfect for my Kitchen and I turn and see my dear neighbor Elly, holding the same exact sign!!

We both bought our signs for $5.00 each and hung them in our Kitchens!

When her sons told us to take whatever we wanted from her home because we had watched it and took care of the yard for the years while she was in a nursing home before she passed way, her sign was one of the things that I took as we were always kindred souls.....

I mention Elly often on my blog and if you are not familiar with her, there is a tribute that I wrote about her on my side bar.....

Moving on......

I bought this at Michael's on Clearance back in July......
I had bought 2 other metal signs like this previously......
I hung it here above the stove in the Kitchen.....
Recently, I shared how I "dabbled" a bit with these Dollar Tree finds.....
Click HERE if you missed that post....

Here is where I hung them......
On each side of the cupboards above the sink.....

I also bought this at Dollar Tree......
Now this sweet apple sign can be used year round, especially in my Kitchen!!
I replaced a picture and hung it here......
Below this on the counter, is where the Beverage Bar is located.....
I bought this in Michael's not long ago......
I saw this last year and wanted it but when I went back for it, it was gone so I was thrilled to see it again this year.....
This is something else that I can use year round and it goes well with my Dollar Tree Rooster things!!
It will stay here until it is time to decorate for Christmas......
As I mentioned before, I have been cleaning the Kitchen and rearranging things...

This is a little apple display that I did right after Labor Day......
I bought this in Big Lot's this year....
Loved that it had the vintage white enamelware look......

It really pops against the red color of the counter bar.....
Growing up, we had an apple tree in our back yard as the development where my Dad built our house was originally an orchard....

My Dad made the BEST apple pies.....

He was a fabulous cook and after his construction accident which left him disabled, he started to bake and even my Mother said that his apple pies made from the apples that came from our back yard tree, were better than hers...

How I miss those apple pies....

Yesterday, I did finish decorating the Kitchen for Fall and Halloween including my Fall/ Halloween Tree which is new in the Kitchen this year!!
I will be sharing it with you soon....

We have had some rain and cloudy days lately but it is supposed to sunny and nice today so hopefully, I will be able to take pictures of how I decorated the Front Porch and Yard for Fall with a touch of Halloween this year....
I took these photos at dusk the other night because I still can not believe how my marigolds look!!!
They are just exploding with blooms!!

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon because I have lots to share....

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  3. I adore your fall tree. You inspired me to purchase a small tree and I am putting it up for Halloween then fall and then Christmas. Your coffee station is too pretty to use.
    Happy Fall,
    Kippi :)

  6. I love all your signs. But my favorite thing about this post is your philosophy of if you like it, buy it! So many many people spout the opposite of ... if you dont have a place for it, DON'T buy it ... and I hear that in my head all the time when yard sale shopping. Oh the regrets I've had when I get home and discover that I do have the perfect place for that item I wanted but didn't buy. I have, as of this moment, adopted YOUR way of thinking and will be buying "it" if I love it.
