Early Fall/Halloween Front Porch, 2019

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

About a week ago, I cleaned the furniture on the front porch, changed rugs, vacuumed the outdoor carpeting, and cleaned and packed up all the Summer decor and garden things from the front porch and yard......

This is what our front porch looked like this Summer after I bought new rugs, chair cushions and pillows....
Joe then took all the Summer Garden tubs down to our storage shed, which is only about a 5 minute drive from our house, and brought back the outdoor Fall/Halloween decorations....

I then re-decorated the front porch and yard for Fall......
When I went to take the photos the flag was wrapped around the pole so Joe straightened it out for me.....
If you notice the title of this post is Early Fall /Halloween Front Porch......
The reason why is because of my Summer annuals still thriving, much to my surprise!!
Look at those marigolds!!!!
Even the begonias and impatiens are hanging in there!!!

I am so glad that I decided to go with the red, orange and yellow color theme when deciding what color of annuals that I would buy because I was able to transition the front of our home into Fall quite nicely this year without having to prematurely get rid of all my annuals......

I will replace them probably in October with mums like I usually do along with a different flag and a few more Halloween things......

And that will call for another post sharing those updates.....

For those of you who do not know, I live in a row of 10 townhouses in a development where there are 70 townhouses.

Our front porch is attached to the neighbor's house on this side of us....
The side of our front porch.....
You may remember the metal corn stalks that I bought in Dollar Tree.....
I put them in the urns on each side of the front porch.....
I can not believe how these flowers are blooming........
For now, I have left out the lighthouse that I made out of clay pots.....
I will pack it away for the Winter......

A few faux gourdes and a pumpkin on the table and a faux pumpkin bought many years ago at Micheal's sitting between the lighthouse and table.....
I bought this large terra cotta Jack O Lantern at a church flea market years ago.....
I decided to move this rake that I embellished with flowers and a sign from Dollar Tree for the Fall several years ago, outside......
It fits perfectly between my house and my neighbor's house along with some wooden leaves.....
And it is better protected from the elements here in the center of the house.....
I have mentioned many times that the weeping mortar makes it very easy to hang things on the front of the house.....
Sorry about the reflection in the front door.....
I decided to change the wreath on the front door this year.....
In a previous post, I shared how I re-did an old wreath .......
I used mostly flowers and leaves and the red truck plaque from Dollar Tree......
Click HERE if you missed that post.....
I hung more Fall plaques......
I moved my faux mail box over to this side of the door along with a Harvest Welcome sign.....
I tied a bow made from burlap like deco mesh on to the front porch light.....
Below the light hangs a Harvest sign that I bought in Gabes a few years ago.....
This Jack O' Lantern that was bought at Wegman's is surrounded by a few faux gourdes....
2 more Fall signs on the other side on the front porch light.....
You can see that I changed the cushions and the pillows on the chairs back to the old ones that I had because these colors are better suited to the Fall.....
I also brought back the old rugs.......
 The corner of the porch.......
I tucked a painted Fall shovel into the Tree that is a permanent fixture on the front porch....
And hooked another Fall sign onto the post from which a lantern is hanging from......
More faux pumpkins added to the table in the corner.....
Another marigold planted in this pot is also thriving....
I have had the Fall Leaf Garland that I attach to the front porch railing for many years.....
2 large bows made from burlap like deco mesh are attached to each end of the railing and the same deco mesh is woven through the garland.....
Again, I can not believe how these marigolds look this late in the Season......
I am not doing anything special but I do keep watering them......

In front of the porch railing.....
You may remember these cute metal signs that I bought in Dollar Tree......
I tucked them in among the marigolds in the pots in front of the railing...
In the center, you can see Indian Corn hanging from the garland and another terra cotta Jack O Lantern resting on a stepping stone, making my angel bird bath into a table!
And this is the pot on the other side with the other Dollar Tree metal sign tucked in among the marigolds....
I forgot to mention that there is a string of orange lights woven through the garland......
In October, I will put strings of battery operated fairy lights that will come on by timer in all the Jack O Lanterns for Halloween....
This is the urn on this side of the front porch with the metal corn stalk from Dollar Tree....
And there is Joe sitting on the porch, surveying the situation......
I hope you enjoyed seeing how our front porch looks now, early in the Fall...
I am sure that soon the begonias and marigolds will start to die off and I will be replacing them with mums....
That will probably happen as we get closer to our first frost of the Season......
We have actually been having some beautiful weather here and are expecting a 6 day rain free stretch, which for NEPA has been a rarity over the past few years.....
I have been busy decorating the inside of the house for Fall and Halloween.......

The Kitchen and the Powder Room are finished including a Fall/Halloween Tree in the Kitchen and I am almost finished decorating the Living Room...

In my next post, I will be sharing how our front yard looks decorated for Fall......
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

  3. WOW! It all looks so beautiful. Full of color! Your flowers look amazing. You may not get to put mums in their place. All of your decorations just add to all the beauty. I love it. I am sure you will enjoy the good weather you will be having. I think I would spend all my time outside enjoying your beautiful porch and patio, soaking in all the beauty . Great job, Deb.

  5. Wow Debbie! Everything looks wonderful as always. Good idea to use marigolds through early Fall and changeover to Mums later on. I'll have to remember that one. I have a question for you though: Have you ever had to go chase down any of your decorations due to the wind? I've lost a couple of my faux pumpkins using them outdoors and chased them down up to 2 blocks away! Any tips for keeping them put?

    1. Yvonne,
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words!! Since our townhouse is up on a slope and it gets very windy here, I have chased faux pumpkins all the way down our road which is a hill!! LOL!! The one shown in this post is wedged between the lighthouse and table so it will not blow away. I have other ones that I have put in our little flower bed underneath the Living Room which is surrounded by a little garden fence that have kept them in place in past years. This year, which you will see in a future post, we actually put them out in our small front yard. I came up with the idea to put a hole in the bottom of the pumpkins and then pound a small stake into the ground and put the pumpkin down on the stake that sticks out of the ground, holding it in place. So far it has worked because we have had some pretty windy days...I hope this helps!!
      Hugs,
      Deb

  6. Holly cow! It must take you a very long time to put out all those decorations. I'm feeling good cause I put out one large mum on the front stoop. I've never really decorated for seasons.......but then I don't have a lovely porch to enjoy the way you do. Truly gorgeous. You should be on a cover of a magazine. How many times a year do you do the decorating?

  7. My goodness what a feast for the eyes, a truly beautiful setting. The marigolds have indeed done well they are spectacular. You were right Debbie a car boot sale is very similar to a flea market or yard sale. Thank you for stopping by.

  11. That "weeping mortar" gets me every time Debbie. I love the look of it and the fact that it's so easy to hang things without having to drill holes. Wow, that the planters are still looking so gorgeous. Maybe it was the excessive heat you all had this Summer? Either way, they really do look amazing. Your neighbours must love staying next to you.

  17. You are definitely ready! I'm just getting my velvet and needlepoint pumpkins out of their bins. Not sure how much I'll actually put out this year. We are in pre-remodel stage. So, it is doubly fun to see what you have done. I'm impressed with all your blooming plants. I haven't had any luck finding fall blooms yet because it is still very hot here in TX. Soon, I hope! Happy First Day of Autumn!
