I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

Dollar Store Dabbling

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

In a previous post, I shared my Fall Haul bought at Big Lot's and Dollar Tree......
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Dollar Tree had an amazing array of what I think are charming Fall goodies!!!

I bought these 2 Fall Canning Jar Plaques!!
I thought that they will be perfect to use in decorating my Kitchen!!
BUT, I did think they looked a bit plain........

So I went through my Fall/ Halloween stash of things and found these 2 items also bought in Dollar Tree ........
I got out my trusty glue gun and decided  to "Dabble" a bit!!

Here is what they look like now!!!!
I simply glued the orange cord around the edge of each plaque.....
Tied it in a bow at the top......
Glued a few burlap like leaves on......
To dress them up a bit!!
And here is how they look now!!
I think they look a little bit better now.....
 Don't you??????

I will give you a Sneak Peak of where I put them......
Yes, I could not help myself .....
I added some Fall decor to my Kitchen even though I promised not to do so until after Labor Day!!!

I am busting at the seams itching to decorate for Fall/Halloween so much so that I think I will be adding a Fall Tree to my Kitchen this year!!

In my next post, I will be sharing a few other new things I added to the Kitchen!!
In a recent post, Suddenly You're Retired, Now WHAT?????, I spoke about Joe's Mental Adjustment to Retirement and also about how I was dealing with first being not able to work because of a Medical condition that required Surgery and now that I am retired, how am I Mentally Adjusting......
I invite you to share your feelings about how you adjusted to retirement or the loss of a job or maybe how you adjusted to being a Stay Home Mom and now have an Empty Nest ......

Click HERE to read the post and hopefully, leave a comment telling your story...

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. You sure have found beautiful Fall decorations. We don't have anything like that at our Dollarstore. Your decorations are beautiful.
I have been retired for 3 yrs. and I love it. I have more time for my flower gardens and travelling. I don't miss setting the alarm to get up early. Retirement is great. Enjoy your spare time Debbie.

  2. Those are darling, Debbie! I'm not ready for Fall because I feel like I haven't had my summer yet. It has gone too quickly and I never really got to enjoy it this year what with my mother passing away. I know you're looking forward to Fall because you don't like the hot weather. Wouldn't it be a boring world if we were all made the same? Can't wait to see your tree! Hugs...Sandi

  3. I should start posting my dollar tree hauls. LOL. I just went on one at both Dollar tree, the 99cent store and Walmart for craft goodies and Fall decorations. I spent WAY too much. I need things like glue sticks, and chalk paint etc. Oh yeah, I did go to Hobby Lobby to get some of that black and white buffalo plaid that I am CrAzY over.

  4. You found some nice fall decorations.
I don't do a lot of fall decorating as it is my least favorite time to decorate...I haven't pulled them out of storage as we are still in full fledged summer. Really hot and not thinking of fall yet.

  5. I have pulled out several fall things but have only hung up a wreathe so far; not ready for fall at all. BUT I did buy a last year's black Halloween owl (cheap!) at ACMoore a few weeks ago and he is sitting atop a CD "book" case in my front hall--the only place I REALLY decorate for Halloween. He just needed to be there! I have some half-started pumpkins from last year I want to finish for my booth, raffle items, etc.

  8. Those look so much better, and I can't even tell that you added what you did. It looks like they should have come that way!

  9. Great idea to add the trim and leaves to the fall jar plaques. I purchased some of that trim too. I am not sure how I will use it but I am feeling inspired.
    Happy Fall Decorating,

  10. Deb, those are adorable little fall plaques. The way you "dressed them up" makes them even more adorable. Looks very cute. I hope to get a new post on my blog by Monday, Labor Day. Have a great week-end. Hugs

  12. I absolutely love what you've done with the Dollar Tree canning jar signs! I bought one of each as soon as our Dollar Tree put out their fall decor this year. I say you can never have enough Dollar Tree seasonal decor items! Hope you have a great week!

  16. Funny, after sort of being retired for 2 1/2 years after our move from California, I am back working here in Texas! Tiring, yes, but enjoying teaching kids as an aide again. :) Besides that, Debbie, I love the subtle changes you made to the two fall wall hangings! Happy to feature your post again this past week at Share Your Style #223.

Happy fall decorating! I did my mantel this weekend after I found THE CUTEST b/w pumpkins in the dollar section at Target.

    Hugs,
    Barb :)
