Last year, I did 3 posts on my Living Room Valentine's decorations.

This year, I am doing it in 2 posts so grab a cup of tea or coffee, pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable as this is going to be a long post LOADED with pictures!!

I usually don't change up my Holiday decor that much from year to year....

But I did make a few changes here and there......

I am going to start with the first of 2 Trees decorated in red and gold for Valentine's Day.......

This is the 7 foot Tree in the corner of the Living Room and the area around it....
This Tree stays here in the corner from September until after Easter and I decorate it for all the Holidays that fall during that time......
After Easter, this Tree is replaced with a 6 foot white Tree that will be decorated for the Summer Patriotic Holidays and then decorated in an "Under The Sea" theme for the remainder of the Summer.......

So there is a decorated Tree in this corner year round.....

That is why I do NOT call my Trees, Christmas Trees, because they are decorated for Holidays year round.....

After I stripped it of all the Christmas decorations, I decorated it for Valentine's Day and the month of  February which is deemed American Heart Month.......

I keep up my Valentine's decorations up until the last week of February......

Next to the Tree on the left is my fake window........
Many years ago, I decided to put peel and stick mirror tiles on the faux brick paneled wall....

Little did I realize that to get those suckers off the wall, we would pretty much have to take down the paneling which is also glued to the dry wall behind it  and what a disaster that would be.......

Also, many years ago there was a TV show, Interior Motives, where the host was Christopher Lowell .....
I loved this guy and his decorating ideas!!

He did a segment once where he covered a mirrored wall with drapes and made it look like a window!!

Hence, that is where the idea for my fake window came from!!!

Boy, do I miss the older decorating shows on HGTV, Discovery Channel and TBS!!

I still have a lot of them on VHS tape which I still watch.......

Yes, I still have a VCR strictly for that purpose!!

So anyway, this is how I decorated my fake window in the Living Room for Valentine's Day........
A heart garland was hung from the curtain rod........
I always hang a wreath in the middle of the "window" for each Holiday and this one I made several years ago.......
It has red heart lights on it........
2 heart shaped Valentine's slates hang on each side of the wreath and a Valentine's plaque hangs below them...............
On each side of the fake window........

I simply added some red velvet roses to the cherub shelves.......
The color theme for the Living Room for Valentine's has always been red and gold......
This Tree is decorated in the same color theme.......

Several years ago, I bought a beautiful red velvet ribbon embossed with roses and gold backing in Target after Christmas on Clearance........
I made a bow for the top of the Tree and streamers that hang down around the Tree from the ribbon......
I used ivory beaded garland with roses on the beads and also a red heart garland............
Red and gold rose ornaments were bought at Big Lot's a few years ago after Christmas......
Also, 2 types of Gold Cherub ornaments that I bought in Micheal's many years ago on Clearance for 90 % off were also added to the Tree.......

I then added all the other Valentine's ornaments that I have amassed over many years........
In my last post, I showed you some of the ornaments that I made and some that I embellished......
Click HERE if you missed it......
I am going to let the photos do the talking.....
Many of the ornaments were bought at Michael's, Big Lots, Target, Pier One and Boscov's over the years......
A red heart wire garland is wrapped around the entire Tree......

You can see that I left the Tree on the platform that my Dad made for me over 40 years ago........
For Fall, Christmas, Valentine's and Easter, I decorate around the bottom of the Tree on the platform.......

Honestly, it is just easier to set up the Tree on the platform in the Fall and leave it there after I take down and pack away my Christmas Village.......
I covered the platform with a vintage red rose tablecloth........
I thought it was perfect to use for Valentine's Day!!!

I then displayed a few Valentine's decorations on the platform.....
Over on the left side......
In a vintage bowl and pitcher, is a floral arrangement that I made when I chose a Nutcracker theme for my tables many years ago when I was a hostess at our church's Harvest Tea.......
I loved the red velvet roses and gold leaves.......

A cherub, an embellished heart candy box and a Valentine's Bearington Bear......
"Thief of Hearts"
In the center........
More of my Valentine's Bearington Bears........
"Cutie " and Love Bug" sitting on a park bench.......
A Bearington Bear dressed in a squirrel costume carrying a heart that says" Nuts About You"......
Hearts, white pine cones, candles and a "Love" sign........
On the right side.......
One more Bearington Bear........
"Lover Boy"......

Another bouquet of the red velvet roses and gold leaves in a crystal vase......
More embellished Valentine's candy boxes.......
White pine cones and a jar candle holder with gold cherubs on it.....
The platform is lit by 2 battery operated candles and a set of fairy lights......
So there you have it.......The first of 2 red and gold Valentine's Trees in the Living Room.......
The 2nd red and gold Tree is on top of the TV Entertainment Center which I treat like a mantle.......
This gold tinsel Tree is one of the Trees that I had on the buffet in the Dining Room for Christmas.....
Next year, the buffet will look a bit differently as I have been giving away some of my Christmas decorations to my new daughter-in-law Danielle and my niece Renae.......

The other gold tinsel Tree has found a new home in my son and daughter-in-law's new home.....

Why I bought 2 of them is beyond me......

This is the Valentine's display on the TV Entertainment Center.........
Let's take a look on the left side first........
I placed my aqua mercury glass candle holders inside of a gold pot and added a candle ring that I made out of what used to be red rose garland that I cut.........
A small heart was hung on the candle holder and a gold glittered battery operated candle was placed on top.....

A red glass heart vase filled with roses, a sweet little girl figurine and a red mercury glass votive with a gold glittered rose ornaments placed on top........
In the center.......
  Is the gold tinsel Tree.........
Decorated with a red heart garland and red heart ornaments.....
It is topped off with a bow made out of red ribbon with gold glitter.....

In front of the Tree.......
Is a vintage looking "Post Card" that I bought a few years ago in The Christmas Tree Shop......
The right side matches the left side except for a cute snow man.....
I am a person who likes symmetry, what can I tell you!!!

I also have a string of fairy lights woven through out the display......
I hope that you enjoyed seeing how I decorated these 2 Trees for Valentine's Day in a red and gold color theme......

  3. Your Valentine trees look gorgeous Debbie! I think the Bearington Bears are my favorite....although it is so hard to pick! I have been busy going thru my mounds of "stuff"....donated 3 SUV's full, and took 25 boxes to the auction! And the good part is, it's only the beginning. hugs my friend.....

  4. You're having too much fun creating your Valentine displays, Debbie! And there're so many wonderful stories behind all of them. I, too, wish we had the old tv craft celebrities on again! I see Christopher on Facebook every now and then and the others I see on Youtube! Those were the days!

  8. I am such a fan of decorating for Valentine's Day! Your tree is lovely and I really like the candy boxes! I have two that I bought years ago for a 'song' . . . now they're SO expensive! I too loved Christopher Lowell . . . he always had such great and practical ideas. Your fake window is a hoot!!! I NEVER would have guessed it wasn't a real window! Great job!

  9. Your decor is out of this world amazing. I seriously love it. Question, how do you store your seasonal decorations, once you change them out? Also, that rose tablecloth is the stuff that dreams are made of, I love it! Also, definitely thought that was a real window!

  10. Lovely red trees for winter - I also use red roses in January and February but don't have enough decor for a tree. I also miss some of the HGTV stars from the 1990's. They seemed to have a very practical approach to decorating.

  11. Debbie: I was delighted with this idea of keeping a tree all year long in the decoration of your living room. I've never seen anything like it and it really looks great. Really enjoyed. Now I'm waiting for your new Valentine's day decoration post! And ... of all the next decorations!

  12. Oh my Debbie I love that idea of creating a faux window. That's so clever. I don't think I've ever seen that show. Back in the day we didn't have access to a lot of international shows because of all the sanctions against South Africa. I wonder if I can find them on youtube. I must have a looksee. And as always your beautiful Valentine's tree is filled with so many lovely details and thought. Sending love and hugs as always

  13. Debbie, I'm always amazed at your decorating! I honestly don't know where you get the time and energy to do that. Something I wish I could do, is leave my big tree up all year round and decorate it for all the seasons and favourite holidays, but I just don't have the room. I leave my four foot tree up in the family room until Valentine's Day is over. I love how it makes the room so cozy, and this year my guys decorated it so that makes it even better. I'm glad you're still in Blogland and you're still sharing all your ideas. Hugs...Sandi

  14. Hi Deb, this was really a pretty one! Red always makes a wonderful statement. I remember Christopher Lowell and loved his show. We didn't get the HGTV channel in Santa Cruz, so almost 30 years ago I saw his show for the first time when we moved to Grass Valley. You are so right, loved those older shows..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy

  15. I agree with you on the old HGTV shows. So much better than the drivel they show there now! I love Kitty Bartholomew and all the tours of homes they did. You'd think with so many great blogger homes they could do a show these days just showing great homes like yours.

  19. What a fun idea to keep a tree up all year and change out the decor on it! I love that! I also love the fake window you've created above the couch. I imagine that is a lot of fun to decorate, as well. It all looks great. Thanks for sharing at Sweet Inspiration!

  20. You are all set for Valentine’s Day! I’m sure it brings a smile to your face with all these cute decorations. I had to laugh at that bear with the “Thief of Hearts” . I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before! I enjoyed Christopher Lowell too and really miss those shows from back then. I learned things from him and wish he was still on tv. He has a new book out and a YouTube channel as well as a Podcast too (I just looked him up). I guess I’ll have to check these out. There is a link to him christopherlowell.com where I got this info.

  25. Oh, and I put up a fake curtain on a wall once-- the wall was ugly paneling and I thought some pretty curtains would look better-- and they did! (I was renting, so I couldn't paint the paneling or anything.)

  26. Oh wow, it looks beautiful Debbie. Love red, it is my favourite colour. I want a Valentine's tree :)
