This is a brief post about the changes that have gone into effect today requiring Blogs to comply to the European Union Law about Cookies and Data Collection.......
If your blog is Google sponsored by Blogger, you started to see this message today when you attempted to write a post or view drafts and stats:
"European Union laws require you to give European Union visitors information about cookies used and data collected on your blog. In many cases, these laws also require you to obtain consent.
As a courtesy, we have added a notice on your blog to explain Google's use of certain Blogger and Google cookies, including use of Google Analytics and AdSense cookies, and other data collected by Google.
You are responsible for confirming this notice actually works for your blog, and that it displays. If you employ other cookies, for example by adding third party features, this notice may not work for you. If you include functionality from other providers there may be extra information collected from your users."

This is all just so crazy, Debbie. I don't even know where to start! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI awoke to the same message. It states that they have added the notice. I am not seeing it on mine, or anyone's. I will check back in here, to see if anyone has advised you further! ~ Truth
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by and for your input!!

Hi Debbie, yes I'm very confused too. The blog Let's Add Sprinkles did a post on it. I am not sure if we need to do anything.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could just do blogging like you said for fun and not have to worry about these kinds of things.
Julie
Miss Debbie, It does state: To see the notice if you’re outside of the EU, view your blog and change the country code, for example blogspot.fr or blogspot.co.uk. I tried that and THE NOTICE SHOWS UP!!!! Try that Miss Debbie.
ReplyDeleteThis makes my head hurt. I don't live in an EU country so maybe that's why I didn't see the notice.

I'm pretty sure you're OK.
ReplyDeleteAny company that does ANY business in the EU is sending these out to people regardless of where they are located. It is more efficient to notify everyone than try to sort out groups of people from their databases.
This is less your problem than it is Google's or Facebook's or Tiffany & Co or any other company that has a presence in the EU.
You can sleep well tonight :)
I'm very confused too. I will check out
