I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

October Garden Update

      Welcome!!

Today I will be sharing one last look at my Cottage Garden in our tiny back yard......

But first, I want to Thank Bev, over at Eclectic Red Barn, for featuring my post, A Tale of 2 Halloween Haunted Houses, from last week's Thursday Favorite Things Party!!!
Thanks so much, Bev!!

Please stop by and visit and link up to this harming party!!

We have had unseasonably warm temps. here in NEPA for the Fall....

Currently, our average high temp. should be in the high 50's at the end of October.....

We have had high's in the low 70's last week!!

We even broke some records with highs in the 80's in the beginning of October!!!!

Because of this, I have kept up watering our back yard and amazingly so, many of my perennials are still hanging in there and not looking too bad!!
You can see that the left side of the yard is still in full bloom in these photos taken about a week ago.......
My deep purple asters bloomed beautifully this year.......
Such a pretty color!!
Do you see the butterfly?????
The asters really attracted the buterflies.......
You can see that the begonias that I transplanted from our front yard in the large white urn are doing fine ......
I am amazed at how good the new guinea impatiens look.....
They are blooming more now than in the Summer!!!
I will definitely be getting more of these next season!!
All the begonias in the back yard are still thriving!!
I hung 2 Fall flags out.....
This large plant with the purple flowers was one I pulled out of a neighbor's yard and transplanted here in the back yard.......
It apparently likes it here......
Even some annuals that are still planted in pots are continuing to do well!!
These are my light purple asters......
The red flowers in the pot to the side of the asters are also new guinea impatiens.....
You can see that I still have to pack away my fairy gardens......

These photos were taken about a week ago and since then the asters have been cut down because their blooming Season was over....

We still have not had a frost which is so unusual for NEPA.........

The mums  in the front of our house are in full bloom.......
Even the begonias are still hanging on there......
I also want to share some Fall Foliage in our neighborhood with you.....

This is a Tree in our neighbor's yard......
The sun setting is shining through it......
This is a tree in my neighbor's yard across the street from us......
Because of the unseasonably warm weather, it was sort of stuck like this for about 2 weeks...

Now that we have been having some cooler more normal temps., the leaves have finally started to change color.....
This is the view of this magnificent Tree from our front porch!!!
These pics were taken right before sunset......
 Amazing colors!!
This is a yearly show that I love to see and have a great view of it!!
You can no longer see the sunset from our front porch like you can in the Summer....

Instead, the sunset is now viewed in our back yard..........
Another sign of the changing seasons.......

I hope you enjoyed seeing one last look at our cottage garden.......

Also, if you missed my October Rudolph Day post over on my Christmas Blog, A Debbie- Dabble Christmas, where I shared how you can make ornaments to use for other Holidays and Seasons and also use them for Christmas too....

In my next post, I will be sharing more tables from our church's Harvest Tea......
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

  1. Your yard is just glowing with autumn colors.....so pretty! I've been busy packing away yard decor too, still a bunch left! I bought those two white slim line trees at Hobby Lobby a few years ago, but I saw some in there just the other day....hugs....

  4. Astors are my favorite flowers. Such a gorgeous tree with that blazing orange color. Our trees didn't turn as pretty this year, don't know why. Love your yard decor and I don't have much but what I do has to be put up very soon now. Happy Monday Betsy

  11. Debbie, it's amazing that your yard and blooming plants are still going so strong! They have been here too b/c temps have been so warm yet, but it's the South after all. (where I live). So it's nice to see the Fall color a bit. We are sure enjoying it here. I love the turning trees too. I'm ready for it to get cooler though.
