I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

Patriotic Front Porch for July 4th, 2017!

Welcome!!!!

Lately, I have been doing a lot of posts featuring our Cottage Garden Back Yard and our Patio!!

In celebration of the 4th of July, I thought I would feature our Patriotic Front Porch in this post!

But first, I want to Thank Karen, over at Oh My Heartsie Girl!, for featuring my post, New Lighting in the Back Yard and Patio, for m last week's Friday Feature Linky Party!!
Thanks so much , Karren!!

Please stop by and visit and link up to this great party!!

I did not show you much of the front porch decorated for Memorial Day because I had just planted my flowers and they looked a bit sparse but with all the rain we have been getting and now with the heat that we have had, the flowers are starting to fill in nicely!!!
I have the front porch all decked out to celebrate the 4th of July!!!
This year will be the first in probably 30 + years that I will be off Sat., Sun., Mon. and Tuesday for the Holiday!!

As a staff RN working in a hospital on night shift, I have to work either the eve or the day of every Holiday but this year, one of our flex nurses wanted to work July 3rd, which is actually considered the Holiday for those of us who work night shift, because of the time and a half pay......
I gladly let her work for me thus giving me 4 days off in a row for the Holiday!!!

I did not think I would see this,  being off the whole Holiday, until I retired so I am going all out for this July 4th with decorating, cooking and hosting 2 cook outs for my family!!

This is what you see when you walk up the 13 steps from our Parking Lot in front of our row of townhouses.....
My neighbor's porch and ours are connected........
This urn sits between our 2 porches......
Using the simple addition of a few American flags can add a lot of Patriotic WOW to existing decor!!
Between the porches......
You can see that my flowers are filling in the pots nicely!!
A Patriotic wreath that I made......
The "Weeping Mortar" on the front of our house allows me to hang things off of it........
What is "Weeping Mortar"?  In my opinion, it was the brick layer's using the lazy way of finishing off by not smoothing out the mortar between the bricks!!
Patriotic Stars, a few wreaths and a basket that I made.......
I took my Statue of Liberty mini flag and hung it using a dowel and wire.......
In the corner of the porch........
In honor of July 4th, I hung my America The Beautiful Flag........
You can see that the dusty miller's are growing well........
2 banners were added to the railing........
More flags added to the planters in front of the railing......
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I decorated our Porch for the 4th of July!!!
In my next post, I will be sharing more Patriotic touches in the front yard and how my flower pots are filling in..........
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

  4. very pretty. I have been too busy to decorate much this year, and no one in the new neighborhood we moved into, seems to be into decorating, so that is a shame. But thanks for inspiring me. The next holidays, I will take the time to add some outdoor decor. Blessings!
