I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

How Are my Flowers Growing in my Cottage Garden and Patio?

   Welcome!!

The last time I showed you my Cottage Garden in the back yard, we had been getting quite a bit of rain and my annuals and perennials had not been able to bask in too much Sunshine!!

Well, that has changed and even though we are still getting frequent rain showers, we have also had some Sun and warm weather causing my flowers to take off!!

Let's take a look at the annuals planted in pots on the Patio first.......
If you missed my last post on how I bumped out "The Bump Out" part of our Patio to accommodate a" new to us" market umbrella.......
 Please click HERE .....

Back to the annuals on the Patio.......

The impatiens are filling in nicely.................
Joe got a deal on some flowers at a local Flower Tent that was closing for the season......
He bought 4 New Guinea Impatiens for $5.00!!  I replaced a begonias that were not doing well in this pot because it got water logged, with one of the new guinea impatiens......

I added that begonia to this pot.......
These begonias are doing well......
The petunias in this pot on the table are filling in.....
 As is this marigold........
These petunias really love the Sun!!
And these impatiens love the shade in the corner!!
I originally planted marigolds in this milk crate container but the slugs were chewing them down to nothing so I switched the marigolds to another pot and planted these annuals that Joe bought on Clearance for $5.00 for a flat of 32 plants!!!
I planted the rest of those annuals in several pots that I had saved when I bought flowers last year.......
You will see that I placed those pots all over the yard.......
Again, the petunias are doing well.......
The begonias that I originally planted in these pots were getting water logged by all the rain so I transplanted them else where and planted 2 new guinea impatiens in these pots......
You can see that my perennials are starting to bloom.......
More impatiens that are growing well.......
You can see that our cottage garden is full of color!!
Once again, the petunias are doing well.....
This one begonia is doing well in this sprinkling can.....
As are the hostas behind it......
These impatiens are doing well in this pot under the tree......
More perennials.......
Joe bought this lily at Wegman's last year and Boy, has it bloomed this year!!
I love the color of it!
I am going to let these next few pictures do the talking!!
Over on the other side of the yard.....
I hope you enjoyed seeing how our Cottage Garden is growing at the end of June!!
I will be back with another update at the end of July.......

So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

  1. That gorgeous lily I would love. Such a beautiful burgundy like color. Your flowers look a heck of a lot better than mine. This muggy, hot , soggy weather in Virginia is terrible.
