Today, I will be continuing my Tour of the Kitchen decorated in an Apple & Sunflower theme for Late Summer/Early Fall....

In my last post, I shared how I decorated the Kitchen Tree in that theme with ornaments I made over the last 3 years....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

I want toThank Andrea, over at The Cottage Market, for choosing my post, Come Join Me for a Stroll on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, as one of her features from last week's A Morning Cup of Joe Link Party!!!

 Thanks so much, Andrea!

I also want to Thank Beverly, over at How Sweet the Sound, for featuring my post " I Now Have a Pretty Bathroom....AGAIN!"as the Most Clicked On Post from last week's Pink Saturday and Anything Goes Link Party!!!

Thanks again, Beverly!

Pink Saturday was the very first Link Party I joined over 13 years ago when I first started to Blog!!

Please stop by and link up to these charming parties!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

On Saturday, A Cash Bingo was held at our church, Saint Maria Goretti.....

Joe worked first as a Door Man.....

Joe with our friends Carol and Betty....

I went with my oldest son, Joey, to play Bingo!!!

Joey does not like his picture taken!!

I was laughing at the faces Joey was making....

I am always told that I do not smile in pictures so here you go!!

It was a Sold Out crowd of 230 for 20 games of Bingo with $100 a game prizes!!

Joe then was selling tickets for the special games valued at $300, $400, $500 and $700!!

Joe with our friend, Rosemary, who was chair person of the event.....

All cash prizes for games were donated along with gift cards and prizes for a theme basket raffle....

Maryann, our church secretary, and our friend Sue.....

Joe selling specials in the distance.....

Joe checking Winners!!!

Our friend Shelly was one of 2 winners of the last Special game for $700 and walked away with $350!!!

She played having her lucky Angel charm with her!!

And it is usually Joe who is the lucky one , not me .....

But.....

I won Game #8.....

And I also won Game #18!!!!

I could not believe that I won one game , let alone that I won twice!!!!!

The cost to play was $30 for 20 games which also included a $5 food voucher.....

Joey cashed in mine and his vouchers for an order of meatballs and a pork BBQ and later bought 2 hot dogs...

You were able to buy extra cards for all 20 games ( 3 cards per game) for an additional $10 which I did....

The Specials for the higher cash prizes were $5 each for 3 cards...

I had them put our food in the fridge to take home for Dinner, after we attended Mass after the Bingo....

Joe ate a pork BBQ and we split 2 orders of meatballs.....

And I had this plate of homemade Haluski!!

We had a great time with family and old friends!!!

In case people are wondering what Haluski is.....

HERE you go....

Traditionally, it is not made with bacon as the recipe calls for!!

Joe's 69th Birthday was on Thursday but we celebrated it yesterday on Sunday.......

We celebrated with pizza from Little Caesar's, a cake and ice cream.....

Our DIL Danielle was keeping a pillow over her growing belly so Faye would not jump on her....

It was a nice afternoon spent with family....

Continuing on the Tour of the Kitchen, I want to share the Hutch.....

I always call this the Focal wall in my Kitchen because it is purely decorative.....

If you are new here, I married a bookcase hutch from a bedroom set of furniture, bought at a flea market for $5, to a desk bought at a yard sale for $10, to create this Hutch for the Kitchen!

I painted it red and white and added apple porcelain knobs, which was the theme of my Kitchen way back when...

Adding a few new things that I bought and was gifted, this year I changed up the Hutch completely from what I did last year...

On top of the Hutch.....

No, the black clock has not worked in years but I love the look of it!!

I hung an Apple Pie wood sign in the middle of the hutch.....

Top shelf....

I left out the Cherry pie plate because of the baking theme going on here.....

I used the Sunflower plates from Dollar tree bought last year as the pattern for this year is more Summer like where I feel these look more Fall like....

My friend Anne Marie gifted me these apple dishes last year.....

I used 2 of them on the shelves where I stood them up using stands....

 Bottom shelf....

I left out the bowl filled with vintage kitchen utensils, a loaf pan and cookie cutters.....

Another apple dish.....

I bought the "Baking Spirits Bright" pie plate in the Spring at a brand new Dollar General and even though it is for Christmas, I used it now......

Along with the rolling pin that says "It's the most wonderful time of the year", which was gifted to me by my friend Anne Marie, because I think Fall is the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!

This copper candle holder was one of the FREE things that I got at the church Flea Market I just went to last week.....

I used yellow doilies, bought years ago in Michael's in their Dollar Bins, on the shelves of the Hutch.....

I like to decorate the "desk" area of this Hutch for the different Holidays and Seasons.....

I did do things a bit differently here this year.....

 In the left corner.....

This year, I used vintage wooden mashers and the remaining 2 apple dishes that my friend Anne Marie gifted me!!!

Also new this year is the Sunflower sign that I bought recently at Dollar Tree......

You may remember that I did a bit of "dabbling" on it!!

I used my vintage Hull Apple cookie jar and salt and pepper shaker set here on the desk area.....

And displayed wood apples inside my vintage yellow fiesta ware cups and saucer sets.....

The place mat was part of last year's Sunflower Collection at Dollar Tree....

They changed the patterns this year.....

I placed a cherry pie candle, that we will pretend is an apple pie, inside of a vintage yellow fiestaware handled soup bowl.....

In the right corner is a vintage milk glass lamp......

Which I placed in a yellow fiestaware bowl and changed out the hob nail white shade for this one with the flowers on it.....

Hanging on this side of the Hutch is another Dollar Tree sign bought last year.......

Of course, I embellished it.....

I also like to decorate the area underneath the desk.....

Hanging from the drawer knobs is a sign that my son Jim made in grade school for me and an apple sign.....

On top of the vintage metal picnic basket....

A milk can like ceramic vase with a graphic that I ran off taped to it!!!

And on the other side is a copper lantern with a copper serving tray as a back drop....

I placed them on a fiestaware vintage platter.....

In front of the picnic basket....

A wooden apple planter that I painted, added a graphic to and filled with florals......

A wooden mason jar sign and a vintage mason jar filled with faux apples and oranges.....

To the right of the Hutch.....

The other shelf that my Dad made from scrap lumber long ago....

A vintage green yellow ware bowl filled with wood apples.....

And a vintage canister set with apples on it.....

Below the shelf.....

A hoop I made along with a vintage rug beater hangs from a hook.....

And yes, that is a vintage sunflower door stop.....

In my next post on WEDNESDAY, I will be continuing the Tour of my Kitchen decorated for Late Summer/ Early Fall.....

I will be sharing the stove area and the counter bar including my Beverage Bar.....

  1. LOL, I have those exact same apples in the green bowl! I got them years ago either from a catalog, probably Tender Heart Treasures, or a Country Treasures shop in a nearby village. I hate to see summer end and leave my summer time decor up as long as possible, so I won't be digging them out of storage until after Labor Day.
Isn't it interesting how customs differ. I grew up in a church that did not agree with games of chance and gambling, so we never had those kinds of fundraisers. We had bake sales and musical evenings and "chore auctions" instead.

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by!! I am not a Summer lover as the heat and humidity really do a number on my physically because of my auto immune disease...I will not decorate for Fall until After Labor Day also...
The Catholic Church has always held fund raisers that involve games of chance for as long as I can remember...Our parishes would not survive without them...I hope you have a great weekend!!

  2. Evenin' Debbie,
What a fun outing that must have been at your church! You and Joe look so good in that picture! I really like your top and purse. (Even though he doesn't like having his picture taken, Joey is a nice looking young man!) And Happy Birthday to Joe! By the way, haluski sounds yummy...
I always enjoy your kitchen in every season, especially all the collectibles on the walls and in the cupboard. The apple bowls from Anne Marie are so cute.🍎
