I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

Team Gifts

What do you buy someone who really does not need anything and does not even know what to ask for when asked if there is something he would like to receive as a gift!!

This dilemma with buying gifts for Joe has put me in tears more than once!!

Joe bought 2 of these chairs at a church flea market for $5.00 each over a year ago.
They were used on the altar for the priests to sit on during Mass.

They looked like Throne Chairs to me!!

Last year I created a chair fit for a Queen that I use in my Craft Room at my Craft table. Pictures of my Queen chair are at the end of this post.

Now on to creating a chair fit for a King!

First I gave the chair several coats of Black Paint.....

Then I ripped off the old fabric from the seat and reupholstered it using fabric I bought at a yard sale several years ago.........

My Daddy taught me well........

I miss my Dad every day for the 24 years that I have lived without him. BUT he lives on in my heart....

Being a carpenter's daughter whose Daddy taught her many things that most Dads would teach a son and not a daughter, I know that he is looking down on me as I do my many projects and smiling with the tear in his eye he always had when I did him proud!

My Dad would be getting such a kick out of this project.....

Next step was to cut out pics from several calendars that were bought for 75 - 90 % off after Christmas......
Then to decoupage them onto the chair......

Creating Joe's Pittsburgh Team Chair!!!!
Sorry for the reflection.....
This pic is better.....

Joe is a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins as our area is the home of their AHL team, the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins or otherwise known in these parts as the Baby Pens!!

Joe has season tickets to the Baby Pens Hockey games which are held at the arena 5 minutes away from our home!

I used images from both teams on this chair.......

Now his favorite football team has ALWAYS been the Pittsburgh Steelers even though most people in this area are Eagles fans because we are closer to Philadelphia rather than Pittsburgh!

So on the front of the chair are the Steelers......

Once again, images cut out of a calendar......

But I didn't stop there.....

I bought a shelf at a flea market about a year ago....

After painting it black......

You can see that is was a natural wood finish....

I again added images cut out of calendars and some stickers and created a Puck Case!!

I ordered the puck holders on Ebay.....

I like how they fit in each little section......

Both Pittsburgh and Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins items decoupaged on the shelf.......

So here are Joe's 2 gifts that I created from the heart for my hubby of 32 years for Father's Day....

No one else will have anything like them......

He said they were the best gifts I ever gave him.....

They are going upstairs in our Master Bedroom in the alcove where he has all of his Pittsburgh Team things displayed....

We call it his Pittsburgh Shrine....
Here are the puck holders filled with some of the pucks Joe has collected over the years.

He was anxious to put them in the holders to see how they looked....
I also spray painted this frame and placed this pic inside of it to put on top of the shelf. It is Joe and Tux, the Wilkes Barre Scranton Pens mascot.
He was hired to make an appearance at our church Festival at Joe's suggestion. He was a big hit as he always is!

I will post more pics later on when I switch things around, hang the shelf and place the chair in front of the roll top desk.....
Joe did mention that I could do the desk next if I want to.....
Yikes!!

The boys are coming over for pizza for Father's Day....Quick and easy as it is my weekend to work . I can't wait to see their faces when they walk in and see the chair and the shelf...

They will most likely just shake their heads and laugh.....

Here is my Queen chair that I created last year......

I painted it white and pink but I did not decoupage anything on the front of the chair.
I painted the flowers on the front pink.....
I even added a little skirt that was a dust ruffle bought for $1.00 at a Thrift shop......

Here is the back of the chair.......

I decoupaged Victorian images from calendars and gift bags!!!

So now we have our King and Queen Chairs.......

Last Thursday evening, we had the pleasure of going to Cirque Du Soleil , Quidam.
This is the third Cirque Du Soleil that we have gone to and each are highly entertaining in their own right! They are here for 8 shows at our arena and usually come every year.

I would definitely recommend any of the Cirque shows if one comes to an arena near you!!
