I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

What's Behind That Door?? Pantry Closet Reveal

In a my post, Our Den, Part 2, I showed you this corner of our Den which was once the Patio off the back of our Townhouse.

Behind the door on the left is what is left of an existing Storage Room which I will share with you soon.
Behind the door on the right is a Pantry Closet that I had my Dad create when he was turning the patio into another room in the house.
This was probably the best thing that I ever did since my Kitchen is very small with little cabinet space.

 As you can see......
 Not much cabinet space......

Truth be told, we had left this closet looking the sane way it did when it was first created!!

I was painted with bright yellow paint that was left over from another paint project........
And the shelves were covered with 2 different styles of contact paper, also left over from another project.
The paper was ripped and ugly!!
This closet looked like this for over 30 years, I am embarrassed to say!!

Joe was off for 5 days over the weekend and I was only off for 2 of those days so I needed to keep him busy!! LOL!!

So I gave him the task of repainting the closet and putting new contact paper on the shelves.

This is one of the shelves covered with the original contact paper.........
So Joe got busy painting in this small closet, using once again, left over paint....
I had almost a gallon of gold paint from when I painted our bedroom so I had him use that paint.
I did not want to spend money on new paint.....

I had forgotten that my Dad never wasted any type of building material that he could use for something else.

He used left over molding to create the brackets that held the shelves.......
The wires you see are cable wires that allow us to have a TV hooked up to cable in the Den.
My Dad also cut apart the wall that he took down which once sectioned off a larger Storage Room from the Patio, enlarging what is now the Den.

These were the shelves he made for the closet out of the wood from that wall.......
I do have to say that because of the roughness of the wood, Joe had one heck of a time applying the new contact paper to those shelve and I am sure he used a few choice words!!

The Pantry Closet now had a fresh coat of paint and new contact paper on the shelves......
And it was ready to be stocked......
Now I am no longer mortified to open this door and show off my Pantry Closet!!
It does hold a lot!!
There is a half sized shelf up at the top because the dryer hose also passes through this closet to the outside vent for it..........

Joe put extra pieces of tile that we had on the floor.....
Here is the Pantry Closet now fully stocked after Joe did the food shopping for the week.......
Yes, Joe does the food shopping and always has as did my Dad!!

Thank Goodness because I really HATE to go shopping for food!!

On another note, I hope you were able to watch Season 3 Premiere of Mr. Selfridge on PBS this past Sunday.
Below is the Trailer for this Season.....

I am thrilled that this Season takes place in 1919 which was the year that both my parents were born so it will be interesting to see what the world was like then......

It also highlights women's rights and women starting to come into their own after WWII.
