I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

I want to Thank everyone for their Congrats, Well Wishes and Prayers for my son Jim and DIL Danielle as they await the birth of their Twin Girls in a few months!!

Honestly, I am still trying to wrap my head around it as I never thought I would ever become a Grandparent....

 Especially to Twins....

To answer a frequently asked question, Yes! Twins run in both families!

Joe's Mother was a Twin but a Fraternal one!

My Granddaughters are Identical Twins....

Your continued Prayers for a Safe Birth and Healthy Mom and Babies are greatly appreciated.....

Speaking of Jim and Danielle.....

They are on vacation in NYC and will be going to 2 concerts that they already had tickets for before they found out they were pregnant, and hopefully a Broadway show or 2....

One last trip before their Babies are due....

So Mimi and G Pop are watching the pups for several days....

Who needs dog beds when you have your own personal ottoman to sleep on????

They do catch up on their sleep when they are here....

I always say that in my 40's, when all my multiple Medical issues started to rear their ugly heads, I knew that my days of traveling for any distance were over....

So I decided that since I loved the Victorian Era so much that I would turn my 1970's built townhouse into the Victorian Bed and Breakfast that I would love to stay at if I was able to continue to travel....

This concept worked so well that now that I am retired, I seldom want to leave my own little Victorian Bed and Breakfast that I created for myself....

Because I feel I am now on vacation every single day!!

Last Year, I started a Series of posts that I called My Bed and Breakfast Series...

The posts were on my Dining Room and on the upstairs Sitting Room...

Today, I will be continuing the Bed and Breakfast Series, revisiting to the upstairs Sitting Room to share how I decorate it in a Garden theme with this year's version of a Fairy Garden on the Mantel of my faux fireplace which I made from a piece of furniture....

After all, most Bed and Breakfasts have a Sitting Room where one can relax and sit and read a book by an inviting fireplace...

Way back in June, after we cut down large branches off our lilac tree in the back, I had Joe cut a few wood slices for me from those branches.....

I then coated them with Polyurethane.....

I think they came out pretty good.....

I first mentioned them when I participated in the Summer Time on a Tray Blog Tour......

And did a Fairy Garden theme for my Tray....

For several years now, I have been displaying a Fairy Garden on the mantel of my faux fireplace in the upstairs Sitting Room.....

Today, I will be sharing this year's version as I do try to change it up a bit each year.....

Using those wood slices...

The Sitting Room is painted a soft yellow with a floral border that I put up when my youngest son Jim, moved out close to 12 years ago.....

On each side of the Home Interiors mirror, that I painted white, are brass sconces that I hung inside  frames that I also painted white...

An antique hand mirror is hung to the side of the sconce.....

I hung a stained glass hummingbird and leaves on the mirror....

Butterfly ornaments are clipped to the branches.....

An antique plate, that was a gift to my Mother from her favorite Aunt, is hung to the side of the sconce on this side of the mirror.....

I am going to mostly let the pictures do the talking....

On the left side....

On top of a crystal cake pedestal....

A fairy sitting on one of the wood slices....

The pink Fairy House is also resting on a wood slice....

In the center....

Are 2 lighted branch trees......

I bought most of the Fairy Houses and the tea cup house at Big Lot's.....

On another crystal pedestal.....

I strung a set of colored flower lights throughout the display....

The vintage scarf on the mantel was made by my maternal Grandmother....

I carried the Fairy Garden theme down to the "hearth" area....

Hanging in the center is a pink flower truck bought last year at Dollar Tree.........

The garden signs hanging on the knobs are from Dollar Tree...

On top of the lantern in the center of the "hearth".......

Another Fairy House....

 A toadstool inside the lantern......

Toad stools on each side of the lantern....

A set of Dollar Tree battery operated Dragonfly lights illuminate the greenery in the Thomas Kinkade pots that I glued to candlesticks that I painted white....

My son Jim's Cabbage Patch doll......

A Bear Tea Party.....

And my son Joey's Cabbage Patch doll....

I hope you enjoyed seeing this year's version of my Fairy Garden on a Mantel....

If you would like to see last year's version, Click HERE....

I still have more of the Sitting Room to share decorated in a Garden theme for Spring/Summer before I decorate it for Christmas in October....

  2. We have quite a few twins with our friends and families and I love learning more about them; did you know that only fraternal twins are hereditary (if they run in the mother's side of the family) and not identical? I find that fascinating. I just love science and genetics. That fairy garden mantel is so cute and I bet the longer you look at it (well, maybe not YOU since you made it but more other people I guess) the more you see. I just love looking at all the little details of all the fairy gardens and houses since they are so cute!
