Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!
Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays
and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a
new post......
Today, I am going to be sharing my Winter decorations in the Kitchen....
We had a bit of snow and ice on Sunday into Monday.....
When the snow first started to fall on Sunday evening.....
You can see the VA Hospital above the roof tops....
The lights from the back of Lowe's in the Shopping Center next to us.....
Around 11:30 pm on Sunday evening....
The lights from the VA Hospital can no longer be seen above the roof tops......
At 6:30 am on Monday morning....
I captured the Blue hour!!
And around 7 am.....
In the back yard....
It has been pretty cold here in NEPA, a typical January for us!!
Once again, we decided to try 2 of the Reheat and Eat meals offered by the Wilkes Barre Scranton Pens Food Service weekly......
This week we tried the
Orange Chicken Lo Mein w/ Stir fry Vegetables ....
And Beef Stroganoff w/
Egg Noodles & Balsamic Bacon Brussel Sprouts...
Since Joe works there, it seems silly not to try them....
I will be heating them up for dinner this evening.....
They sure do look good though....
I decorate the Kitchen mainly for Winter anymore with just a few touches of Valentine's.....
I usually showcase these decorations in 2 posts but since I have decreased down to 2 posts a week from 3, I am going to share the entire room in one post.....
So grab a comfy seat, a cup of something good to drink and get ready for a picture ladden post....
We will start with what I call the focal wall in my Kitchen.....
I took down and packed away all of Christmas and then cleaned the Kitchen like I would do "Spring cleaning".....
For well over a decade now, my theme for the Kitchen for Winter has been Birds, mainly red cardinals....
A cardinal and some pine cones here on the shelf....
I replaced the vintage aprons with a Valentine's one.....
I taped a picture of a red cardinal over the tile on this chalkboard.....
And I placed a sign from Dollar Tree on the little shelf of the chalkboard.....
A red cardinal and a snowman hang on the wall behind the Tree....
I taped a pretty picture of a Winter scene from a past calendar over a generic picture on the Kitchen calendar.....
After stripping this Tree down after Christmas, I decorated it for Winter....
A snowman figure on the floor by the Tree.....
I topped this Tree with a large white snowflake and a bow made from 2 different types of ribbons, one with red cardinals on it and a red plaid ribbon.....
The Tree is decorated with red cardinals and other Winter birds.....
Birdhouses......
Red hearts.....
Crocheted snowflakes.....
And I tucked Buffalo Snow into the Tree.....
For Winter, I use my Holiday Harlequin dishes in the Hutch....
We bought them at Wegman's several years ago after Christmas on Clearance!!!
Other years, I used some of my "regular" things along with the dishes in this Hutch.....
But this year, I tried to stick to the fruit and vegetable theme of the dishes.....
A red plaid ribbon bow at the top of the Hutch....
I am going to let the pictures do the talking.....
I decorated the desk area of the Hutch with red cardinal Tea sets....
I decorated underneath the Hutch....
Another red cardinal, a snowman and pine cones along with snow balls....
A cardinal ornament hangs from the drawer knob....
A pair of boy's skates.....
The shelf on the other side of the Hutch.....
Another Valentine's apron.....
Snow flakes that I made last year, hang from the gingerbread fretwork in the doorway out to the Den....
On the side of the stove.....
A Winter floral arrangement with a bird ornament in the grater....
A letter D ornaments with red cardnals on it!!
Pine cones and red berry picks tucked into the Planters Peanut canister with some of my Rolling Pin Collection.....
Valentine's towels hang on the side of the stove....
The stove area.....
A calendar picture that I framed and red door ornaments bought at Dollar Tree ....
Winter towels......
Next to the stove.....
"Let It Snow"
Seasonal towels and rugs.....
Where the window used to be before we made the patio into the Den and took out the window.....
A winter swag that I made last year hangs above the "Friends and Family Gather Here" sign...
I hung hearts from the tea cup chandy that I made....
And birdhouses and snowflakes too!!
On the sill of the window....
A snowman that I made out of clay pots....
In the center is a crackle glass hurricane lamp......
I placed a bird house on top of it and I forgot to light the battery operated faiy lights in the hurricane lamp.....
A snowman holding a basket of hearts....
And a small Jim Shore Angel with red cardinals on it....
This is a slightly larger clay pot that I did not get to make into another snowman yet....
I will share pictures once I get it finished.....
In the corner.....
I placed a snowman tea pot on top of the lighted wire tea cup.....
Another framed calendar picture....
I added some of the picks that I removed from a large Christmas swag that I took apart that used to hang above the sink to this wreath that I made last year.......
The Beverage Bar area....
I kept up the Hot Cocoa Bar sign form Christmas....
My Winter mugs....
I replaced the Christmas place mat with this bird one just like the one on the desk area of the Hutch....
The snowman tea pot holds sugar.....
I am still stocked with flavored Teas and Coffee, Hot Chocolate and goodies to add to it and flavored creamers for my coffee....
On top of the refrigerator....
I did this a bit differently this year...
A Winter bird tea pot on top of a wooden basket painted with red cardinals....
I was gifted this wonderful snowman last year by my friend Anne Marie and I decided to move it from the Living Room where I had it for Christmas to here....
Because of doing so, I packed away a small Tree that I usually had in the Kitchen for Winter...
The counter bar area....
I changed the cafe curtain on the counter bar to match the valance above the sink.....
I made both out of a tablecloth....
I added red plaid birdhouses....
Snowflakes....
Bows made from cardinal and red plaid ribbon.....
Owls....
And icicles and galvanized cardinal ornaments....
To the garland above the counter bar.....
On top of the 2 red mercury glass candle holders on each side of the lamp.....
Canning jars with cardinals and bottle brush trees inside of them.....
And on top of them, red house and barn ornaments....
I could not find a red plaid runner but I did find a throw rug so that is what I used on top of the counter bar......
On the side of the counter bar.....
I left up the Coffee and Hot Cocoa sign from Christmas.....
And that completes my Winter Tour of the Kitchen.....
I hope you enjoyed it.....
On Sunday, I will be sharing the Dining Room decorated for Valentine's.....
So I hope you will stop by again on Sunday!
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

HI Debbie,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! What a great idea to get the prepared dinners! I love the hot cocoa bar sign and the snowman muffin tin is adorable! Laura in Colorado
Gosh, those snow photos are just wonderful. I especially like the lights on the roof of the VA (they just sparkle) and the blue light! So pretty as long as you are indoors and not driving in it. We were forecast one inch and I told my husband I was thinking 4.8". We went to bed and I was right. We had 4-5", enough to justify the use of the snowblower. East of us really got hit with up to 18-23" overnight. Cleveland schools are closed for the third day. Monday they had shut down public transportation and people were stranded at work.
ReplyDeleteThose heat and serve meals look as delicious as I imagined when I looked at the order form you posted! I would be ordering every week, that's for sure. What a great service they are providing and priced reasonably too.
Always fun to see what you are up to. I bet it is easier to get everything done now that you are retired. The thing that caught my eye is the little muffin tin painted to look like snowmen. So cute!
ReplyDeleteIf you have a minute, pop by my blog and vote on your favorite table, Debbie. xo Diana
Your porch is so beautiful at night with the lights covered partially with snow. Magical. And I do love that muffin tin snowman and the wreath!
ReplyDeleteIt all is so magical….so beautiful…but those cardinals…they have stolen my heart!
ReplyDeleteNina,

Hugs,
Debbie
Debbie, it all looks so festive and pretty. I will come and hang out by the hot coco bar and I do absolutely love those dishes with the black and white checks. So pretty, my friend..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteVery charming!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, your black and white harlequin dishes against the red are so striking! Enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at the snow you had recently. I like the cardinal and snowman theme in the kitchen. I hope you stay warm and cozy this weekend Debbie.
ReplyDeleteI love winter red...especially cardinals. And that food looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteYour cardinal and snowman decor is so cute, Debbie! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
ReplyDeleteI love the cheese grater that you hung on your wall. Every time I see your kitchen I admire it. It's so innovative. I'm on the lookout for one from the thrift store to use as a vase. The red cardinals are perfect for winter and they go seamlessly with red for Valentine's Day too. I can't wait to see your pink Valentine's Day dining room! I hope you got your "I was featured" button from Crafty Creators to display on your blog!

Your kitchen reminds me of an old timey mercantile! Some of your cardinal prints are really pretty. And I like the cherry canisters. I think my mom would love your tree! She also loves to decorate!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing at the Sunday Sunshine Blog Hop!
Until next time!
