"More "Under the Sea" Decorations

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I will be sharing more of my late Summer "Under the Sea" decorations in my Living Room.....

On a Personal Note, Joe is feeling much better after suffering what I felt was a drug reaction to a change in his Cholesterol medication.....

Last week was quite a stressful week and definitely no way to begin Joe's retirement now that he is no longer working part time.....

We are still having awful heat and humidity here in NEPA....

Locally, so far this is our hottest July on record.......

I am trying to keep up with watering all my flowers but I do not do well in heat like this and start to get sick after about 15-20 minutes outside...

I hate it that we can not even sit outside and enjoy our front porch and back patio.....

Since I am stuck in the house with the air conditioning blasting and the shades drawn to keep the hot sun out, I have been doing a lot of cleaning....

I am so looking forward to FALL and WINTER!!!!

At least then, I can at least have the shades up while in the house!!

I want to Thank, Bev, over at Eclectic Red Barn, for choosing my post, Summer Garden Tea Party Tree in the Craft Room, as one of her features from last week's Over the Moon Linky Party!!!
 Thanks so much, Bev!!

Please stop by and link up to this great party!!

In a previous post, I shared how I decorated the Tree in the Living Room in my late Summer"Under the Sea" theme.....
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

I also shared how I decorated the platform underneath the Tree as if it was a "Beach".......
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

I decorated a few other areas of the Living Room in the "Under the Sea Theme"......
I like to decorate the faux window in the Living Room for the different Seasons and Holidays by hanging a wreath and a few other things on the mirror......
Needless to say, the drapes that I bought in the Spring really go well with the "aqua "Under the Sea" Theme......
I made this wreath a few years ago using shells that my neighbor Elly had collected on Miami Beach.....
In the Spring, Joe felt I needed more mini flags and bought this Beach one in Ollie's for $2.99......
I decided to use one of the dowels in my stash to hang it on the mirror in the Living Room as it fits in nicely with the "Under the Sea" color theme.....
I am thinking of adding a set of lights to the wreath but in all honesty, we just finished a 4 day heat wave, which in our area is 3 days over 90 degrees........
The thought of going up in to the attic to look for lights when it surely must be 140 degrees up there does not appeal to me in the slightest......

If we finally get a break in this heat, I will venture up there and add lights and show you how it looks.....

The other area in the Living Room that I like to decorate for the different Holidays and Seasons is this corner by the stairs......
On the stairs.......
I added bows I made out of aqua and peach ribbon to the lanterns that have a permanent home on these steps..........
And I also added shells inside the lanterns....
Hanging over on the other side of the stairs.....
Is another wreath that I made using the Elly's shells......
The Brian Baker Lighthouse hangs above the curio in the corner year round......
I like to decorate this antique chair here in the corner.....
For this time of year, I decorated it in a Nautical theme
I draped a rope around the back of the chair.....
I made this out of one of the glass blocks.....
I filled it with shells, battery operated fairy lights and glued a seahorse and anchor that I made to the front of it.....
I filled these 2 bottles with shells and sand, added bows made from aqua and peach ribbon and embellished the bottom with aqua sequinned trim.....
I used a card board book, covered by a vintage crocheted scarf, for elevation.......
I bought this picture for 25 cents at a yard sale......
Shells and a star fish that i embellished.......
 Underneath the chair......
Next to the chair, is my LED lighted branch Tree......
I decorated this Tree with aqua ornaments I bought at Big Lots several years ago......
 2 different kinds of Butterflies......
 Dragonflies......
 And Birds........
I wrapped a piece of aqua deco mesh around the base of the Tree along with a piece of nesting.....
Added some shells and 2 embellished star fish......
 And a battery operated candle.......
I hope you enjoyed seeing all my "Under the Sea" decorations in our Living Room.......
These will now stay up until after Labor day when I will start my Fall house cleaning and decorating for Fall......

I do have some other things in our Living Room that I would like to share with you but I do have to try to get up in our attic which is a blazing inferno of heat right now to complete the vignettes......

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  1. It's like being on vacation and not having to leave home :) I can't imagine how organized you must be to know where all these decorations are stored :)

  2. I know I feel trapped by this heat! A small town near us has a air conditioned indoor playground and I normally buy a pass to take the grandkids on these steamy afternoons to run off some energy. They have opened with limited numbers and stuff, but the kids are all in ball pits with no masks, I don't see how you could possibly sanitize anything. We don't even travel far to parks or anything because I don't want them in public restrooms. I am hoping cooler temperatures find us!

  3. Hello Debbie!

I sympathize with you about this heat! I, too, am looking forward to fall and winter...although we really don't have fall here...it's more like we go from HOT, HOT summer to fall-ish weather and then to winter....LOL!
As always your living room is so beautiful...and it looks so cool and refreshing! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Dear Debbie, I just couldn't stomach anyone's red/green Christmas in July Posts, after working in the art/craft industry all my life. But, who can pass up a TURQUOISE Under the Sea tree. It's the perfect storm of Christmas in July...LOL. You had too much fun, and the turquoise was are cooling respite for all this heat. LOTS of FUN here! Sandi
