Winter Snow and Ice Tree in the Den 2018

Welcome!!

In my last post, I shared my Winter Snow and Ice China Cupboard in the Den........
I redecorated this China Cupboard for Winter after Christmas......
Click HERE if you missed that post.......

In this post, I will be continuing the Winter Snow and Ice theme in our Den.......

But first, I want to Thank Claire from over across the pond at Claire Justine, for featuring my post Winter Front Porch and Yard 2018, from last week's Creative Mondays Link Up Party!!
Thanks so much, Claire!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!

I changed over the Tree in this room from Christmas.........
 To  Winter.......

I decorated it in a white and gold color theme......
Living in NEPA, Our Winters here last until the end of March with snow sometimes into April, so a few years ago, I decided to decorate the Den for Winter..........
We usually get a fair share of snow and ice in the Winter with record breaking Ice Storms in Feb. and  2 major record breaking Blizzards that occurred in March!!
At the end of this post, I will be sharing some photos that Joe took of what was left behind when the Susquehanna River flooded because of Ice Jams in the local town of West Pittston.........
More of this at the end of the post......

Back to my Winter Snow and Ice Tree......
I started by stripping it down to the lights.....

I added a set of icicle lights......
And crystal like icicle garland......
I also wrapped the tree with 2 vines of crystal beaded garland......

The Tree is topped with shimmery gold edges greenery bought a few years back at Michael's ......
And a few Pheasant feathers.....
The white bow was made from shimmery white deco mesh ribbon.....
Streamers of white deco mesh ribbon hang down from the top of the Tree........
Joe bought these ornaments on Clearance after Christmas this year in Bed, Bath and Beyond......
I thought they would be perfect for this Tree.......
The ornaments I used to decorate this Tree are crystal icicles and snow flakes........
Snow Men........
Birds and Owls......
Gold pine cones and ornaments that look like pine cones........
Rustic houses and bird houses......
Joe also bought these ornaments in Bed, Bath and Beyond.....
I added them to the Tree.....
I wrapped the Tree in a wired white snow flake garland......
There are also large white snowflakes and bird nests on the Tree...
 I decorated underneath the Tree.......
There is a lace square tablecloth with houses on it on top of the table.......

A white owl sits in the middle.......
White bottle brush trees......
Birds........
On each side of the table are white glittered "lumps"........
They were a set of wax battery operated Trees that unfortunately, melted because of the heat in the attic over the Summer......

They still worked so I thought I would use them as "Snow Piles"!!!
2 Thomas Kinkade coasters grace each side of the table.......
Clear snow flakes are scattered about the table.......
In the back of the table, are trees that I made out of music sheet paper.......
Next to the Tree on a burgundy velvet ottaman.......
Are 2 dolls in Winter garb........

And 2 snow men.......
I hope you enjoyed seeing my Winter Snow and Ice Tree.......
Going with the Snow and Ice theme......

The Susquehanna River runs through the Wyoming Valley of North Eastern Pa, where we live......

Ice Jams formed on the river, causing minor flooding in the town of West Pittston where there is no levee system.......

When the Ice Jam broke and the river returned to it's banks, this is what was left behind!!!!!
Look at the ice on the Trees!!
Looking across the river to the city of Pittston, where the Post Office that Joe worked out of is located.......
This drew a lot of spectators because something like this has never happened in our life time!!
The last time this happened was in 1904!!
This is our son, Joe, taking a look at history!!!
The temps. were in the 50's that day!!

 The Water Street Bridge......
Looking at the river bank in West Pittston!!
 Looking at the "Stone Bridge"......
It will be a LONG time before all of that ice melts and then the clean up will begin because the Ice actually pulled out and cracked dozens of Trees along the river banks.....

There are more photos and videos posted on my face book site if interested.......

My face book site is private so just send me a Friend Request.....

In my next post, I will be sharing a few Winter Snow and Ice Vignettes in the Den and my Victorian Doll House, Nelson Crest, decorated for Winter.......
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  3. Wow Debbie, those pics you took of the river look like it's on some alien planet. Mother nature is so fascinating and awe inspiring. I enjoyed seeing your Winter tree in the den and getting a glimpse of how you build up the layers to get such a gorgeous full look on your trees. Mine always end up looking so sparse and bare
