Just a Few New Dishes and a Few Old Ones.....

Welcome back to my regular Blog, Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

Since November, I have been posting over on my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas, for the Holiday Season.....

I still have a few more posts about Christmas to share so I will still be posting over there for a bit including some of the things that I bought after Christmas on Clearance for next year and for other Holidays and Seasons.....

I did do my Annual post on what My One Little Word for 2017 is.....
Click HERE if you missed it.......

I will also be sharing what I bought for other Holidays and Seasons here starting with this post......

But first, I do want to Thank Myrabev ( Miranda), over at The Myrabev Life, for featuring my post,
Fall Foliage, as a feature of the November's  You're The Star Blog Party!!
Thanks so much, Miranda and all the other hosts of this great party!!

Please stop by and link up to this great party!!

From my past posts, I am sure you realized that Joe loves to shop and finds some great deals.....

He shops in Wegman's several times a week and always checks out the Decor department for me.....

They carried this line of dishes for the Holiday Season called Holiday Harlequin......
I loved them and thought that they could be used year round and not just for the Holidays.....
I only wanted a set for 2 because I have so many other dishes......

I think all Bloggers have a "thing" for dishes, don't you?

The black and white diamond design is reminiscent of Mackensie Child's designs.....
Of course, I had to have the Teapot!!
The fruit design fits in well with my Kitchen as does the red and yellow colors.....
The mugs came with 4 different fruit designs on them but these were all that were left......
Red onions......
My blogger friend, Ellen, said it may be a pomegranate instead of a red onion.......

And yellow pears......
He was also able to buy the Sugar and Creamer set.......
The sugar bowl has apples on it.....
And the creamer has pears on it...
The 2 dessert plates that Joe bought have apples and grapes on them...........
And after he initially bought these dishes, he found bowls on Clearance too!!
One with red onions or maybe a pomegranate and the other with grapes on them.....
I think this set will be prefect for a Winter display in my kitchen .......
And also for a nice soup and sandwich luncheon, don't you think????

This is what everything cost at Clearance prices......

Mugs- $2.00
Dessert plates- $2.00
Bowls- $2.00
Sugar and Creamer set- $2.49
Tea Pot- $5.00

Total of under $20.00 for everything!!

Not bad, huh????

Joe also found these at Pier One on Clearance......
 So cute!
 These were $2.10 each!!

Along with a sweet Winter candle....
 Also for $2.00!!

And the last thing that I want to share is my simple New Year's Day tablescape.......
I make a double batch of lasagna for New Year's Day for the kids to enjoy.........

And since I do not take Christmas decorations down until Epiphany or the Feast of the 3 Kings which is considered the end of the Christmas Season in the Catholic Church, I set the table with what I thought was a Christmas theme.......
These plates remind me of Charles Dicken's Scrooge!!

These dishes are the perfect size for a large piece of lasagna!!
The chargers were bought at a Flea Market and are made by Lenox......
And I used these for the bread dish.....
I thought the clock showing Time would be appropriate for the New Year......

The silverware was bought on Clearance a few years ago in Wegman's......
I used Ruby Red Depression Glass Tumblers........
After we ate, Chips were placed in this Ruby Red bowl.......
And candy in this one!!
A simple but festive table for New Year's Day dinner with family.....
And yes, the freshly baked bread on the table also came from Wegman's!!

As I mentioned, I don't start to take down my Christmas decorations until the Feast of the 3 Kings which is Jan. 6th this year.

Many in our area celebrate what we call "Russian Christmas " or Russian Orthodox Christmas which falls on Jan. 7th this year, as they follow the Julian Calendar rather than the Gregorian Calendar.

Because of this , many in our area leave up Christmas decorations until then honoring the many immigrants of Eastern European background that settled in our area in the early 1900's......

When I do start to take down Christmas, I will be changing over many decorations to Winter Decorations that I leave up all Winter long and then to Valentine's Day Decorations which stay up during the entire month of February......

So I hope you will come by and visit  again!!

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

Hugs,
Debbie

  1. Love the dishes. I think the mug has a pomegranate on it though. That would be more in line with the fruit on the rest of the dishes.
I so love that your husband is such a bargain hunter for you. Great scores all around.

  2. What a great guy!! My husband tolerates my dish addiction, but I don't think he would ever add to it!

  3. Happy New Year, Debbie! Oh, look at those dishes! You know I love them all. I had an opportunity to buy those Old Curiosity Shop dishes and didn't. I've kicked myself ever since! :) Here's to another year of blogging with you.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  6. Such pretty dishes, I have two sets for every day and then I have a set of china that we got for a wedding gift and I have a set of Christmas dishes. The set you used for your New Years looks very close to a set my mother had. The red and green is so pretty together!

  7. Oh love the new dishes. I never made it to Pier One or Kirklands this year. I stayed away we were still a little low on funds since our move. Bummer. I had to laugh the Cowboy suggested no gifts. Which he's done the last three years. There were 3 packages for me under the tree on Christmas morning. He doesn't play fair!
Anyway back to your dishes I love the black. I think it is a pomegrante too. I love the Pier One plates.
Your New Years dinner was so pretty. I meant to do something but was super busy. Then our neighbors invited us over so I didn't have to do anything! Can't wait to see the Valentines' I am already adding new pins for inspiration for my dinner.
Thanks for linking. I'll change to Valentines by mid Jan. to give everyone time. It's really scheduled for Feb 1 but I don't think it's time.
So sorry this is a book! Have a good weekend!

  9. I agree, bloggers love a pretty tablescape. The Harlequin dishes are so pretty and I would use them into spring. And I adore the seabird dishes since I live in Florida. You have a nice collection of dinnerware.

  10. The dishes are almost too beautiful to eat off of!

  11. What a great eye Joe has for pretty dishes....love all of them! That's about the only thing that H doesn't do....he is not a shopper. When we go to town, he drops me off at the store door, parks, naps, and picks me up when I'm done...lol! My new great grand baby finally got out of the hospital, he came early and had to stay a few extra days. Have a great week...hugs...

  12. I love those diamond pattern dishes! I completely agree that bloggers have a thing for dishes. I just purchased a set on clearance last week too which I won't use until next Christmas. Happy New Year!

  13. I also think the green dishes remind me of Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

  15. What a great collection! The Sandpiper in the winter clothes are my favorites. They are so original. I have never seen anything like them. Wish I had the storage to have a collection like yours. For now I will just have to live vicariously through the collection of others. lol. Thanks for sharing.

  18. Great dish set! We are actually getting a Wegman's in our area ... maybe by next Christmas. I love the "Charles Dickens-ish" dinnerware, too! I love your New Year's Day tradition, too. THanks so much for linking up with Let's Talk Vintage, Debbie! (Be sure to jump to www.vintandco.com and look under the BLOG tab! 19. What a lovely collection Debbie, those Harlequin dishes are just beautiful and I also think it's a pomegranate. Your New Years table setting looks perfect and so homely with the Scrooge-ish dishes. The detail in the pictures are amazing and they pair so beautifully with the red glasses and cutlery. Hope you had a lovely New year and wishing you lots of love and collecting in 2017

  21. Your dishes are so pretty--and I agree the red fruit are pomegranates. Lovely new site. I sympathize with being hacked. It happened to me a year and a half ago. So much work to reorganize! Blessings for the new year (I like your one word)!

  22. I love the new dishes with the harlequin border! And yes, I'm sure it's a pomegranate. I think they would be great for fall as well. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  24. Hi Debbie, I can't remember if I've mentioned it before, but I read the Old Curiosity Shop pattern that reminds you of A Christmas Carol, was actually named after another Charles Dickens' story. Since I'm a pushover for a pretty plate, I enjoy little facts like those, lol. Thank you for sharing @Vintage Charm!
