I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

Rain,Olympics and Veggies!

We have been getting down pours and a few showers for most of the Summer but are still below normal levels for yearly rain fall...

Before I continue, I want to THANK these Hostesses for featuring my post, A Few More Projects in my Sitting Room, from last week's parties!

Thanks to Angel, over at Sew Crafty Angel, for featuring it from last week's Wake Up Wednesday Linky Party!!
Thanks so much to Angel and all the other hosts of Wake Up Wednesday!!

And Thanks to Elaine, over at Cookin' and Craftin'- My 2 Favorite Things, who featured it as The Most Viewed from last week's My 2 Favorite Things on Thursday Linky Party!!
Thanks so much to Elaine!! I was so touched by her kind words!

Please visit and link up to these great parties!!

I would also like to send out Congrats to my cousin Jim and his wife Doreen and their daughter Kelsey, who is competing in the Rio Olympics as a member of the USA Women's Field Hockey Team!!!!!

That is right!!! The Kolojejchick Name is represented at the Olympics!!!!

Yep! That is my maiden name!! Quite a mouthful, huh?????

Going to Barna has been so much easier!!

They have already won 4 games and are undefeated. They play Great Britain next and then on to the quarter finals.....

This Summer, for me, has been one of the worst Summers because it has been a Summer of record breaking heat and 90+ degrees.

I do not do well in the heat as it seems to kick in all my Auto Immune symptoms so I have spent most of the Summer in the house with the air conditioning blaring!! It might as well be Winter!!

We got some much needed rain the other day so I thought that I would take a few photos of our back yard in the rain.......
Even though we have had such heat........
And are below normal levels for rain.......
My flowers are still doing pretty well!!
Look at the size of the petunias in that pot.......

These are perennials.......
Now how can my flowers be doing that well?????
Because when we do not get an occasional down pour, I water every day!!
Can I tell you how tired of that I am???????
 Why you ask??????
That is because we do not have an outdoor hook up for a hose!!
When my Dad made our patio into the Den.......
He did extend the water line to the new back of the house......
But it froze and burst the first Winter......
 Flooding the Den.....
 So we disconnected it.......
I now water both the front and the back yards, using these.....
So every morning.......
I Have to Go Sprinkle!!!
And now to the Veggie part of the post....

An Amish Farmer sets up a bunch of stands every Friday at the Mini Mart down the street from us.

When it gets close to closing time, he starts to pile veggies in boxes and then sells them by the box at LOW prices......
The photo above is of what Joe bought home!!

All of these tomatoes which are so good!!
I want to point out how big this box is!!
Over 30 tomatoes!!
5 peppers, 8 zucchini and 4 cucumbers!!
All this for $10.00!!!!
We split it all up with a neighbor....

And these are the best darn Banana Breads
They normally sell for 4 for $10.00 which I think is well worth it because they melt in your mouth!!
All natural ingredients, made in an Amish Bakery.

He gave them to Joe for $5.00!!!

I put 3 in the freezer for a later date.......

Soon, I will be sharing the final post of my "New" Sitting Room Reveal......

In my next post, I will be sharing our Anniversary Tablescape and Dinner....
So I hope you will be back to visit soon!!

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

Hugs,
Debbie

  1. Good Luck Kelsey!!! My son has been keeping us informed on the Olympics. And I think its already established I am not a summer person, at 10:45 am it is already 91* here in western NY. ENOUGH ALREADY WINK.

    Have a beautiful Weekend.

  2. Your flowers are doing beautifully, Debbie! And, how exciting for your cousin's daughter to be competing in the Olympics. I will definitely watch and cheer them on. I totally get how you feel with the watering thing. Some of our gardens are not reachable by hose, so I put in some soaker hoses winding through and can get the main hose far enough to hook up to those. It helps. Have a great weekend; we're getting pounded with major rain (4 days in a row, now), and last I heard, it will be going in your direction, so I hope you will get some relief in the next week.

  6. Your yard still looks so pretty....mine is starting to die from the heat! Bless your heart, it must be very tiring to water everything by hand. What a great deal on the veggies and banana bread! How exciting to know someone in the Olympics...her family has reason to be very proud....hugs....

  8. Debbie, I love your patio with all the flowers. I am much too lazy and forgetful to water so I am mostly choosing begonias these days. It's a joy to scroll through and see the loveliness everywhere! Having a family member be a part of the Olympics is so exciting!

  10. Although I don't have as many flowers as you do, I too have to water with my watering can the flowers and veggies growing in pots on my deck.... we have our hose going out to the garden and it would be more of a hassle for me to try and move that than using the can, luckily for the 3 out front I have a hose out there. Your flowers are doing wonderfully, my petunias have gotten very long and lanky, not as pretty as yours.

  12. How exciting to have your cousin participating in the Olympics! That's a very big deal. Your garden looks great and my goodness, those veggies look spectacular! What I wouldn't give for some of those fresh from the garden Amish tomatoes! The banana bread looks wonderful too. Thanks for sharing, Debbie.

    Blessings,

  14. Hi Debbie, wow your garden still looks amazing. Boy is that a lot of work to be watering with a watering can!! I would be exhausted too. Too bad you don't have the hose. All of the veggies are wonderful and the banana bread must taste amazing. Don't worry soon we will all be complaining about how cold we are. Thanks as always for sharing each week at C&C w J&J.
Stay cool and have a nice weekend.
