I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

A Few More Projects for my "New" Sitting Room

Well, I have finished the final project that I wanted to do in completing the task of turning our Guest Room into a Sitting Room for me!!

Sewing!!!

You see, I based the color theme of the this room on this bedding set, bought at a church flea market!
I loved the yellow back ground with the floral print and even matched the wall paper border to this set.

Now that we no longer have a bed in this room, I decided to re-purpose the sheets because I am keeping the comforter to throw over myself on chilly evenings while I sleep read in my new recliner!!

I first started with the Dust Ruffle .............
I decided that I would add the ruffle to this blue tablecloth that was too short for this round table......
I then chose to finish it off with some trim........
Remember the trim from the lamp shades that I embellished?????
If you missed that post, please click HERE
I do want to find a table round that is slightly larger in diameter ..........
Next to the table is a small vanity chair.......
This is how it looked several years ago when I first re- upholstered it using fabric from a tablecloth!!
And this is how it looks now!
I used fabric from a pillow sham for the back of the chair........
Trimmed it with some ribbon roses........

I cut up the fitted sheet and covered the seat of the chair......
And trimmed it off with the fringed trim and a few ribbon roses.......
I also made a few covers for some pillow forms......
Again, using the fabric from the fitted sheet and then adding trim.......
In this corner is where my white Christmas Tree will be set up for next Holiday Season........
More pillows are on the recliner........
Again, I used the fitted sheet fabric and a pillow sham.......
I cut out a square from the pillow sham and sewed it onto the center of this pillow........
This one was made from the left over pillow sham fabric.....
And another small one , which will be perfect for behind my head when reading!!!!!
I had picked up another dust ruffle to match this bedding set several years ago at a Thrift Store.

I decided to make it into a valance for above the closet door to dress up that area a bit......
For right now, this is the entire dust ruffle but I can cut it in half if I decided to use it for the window!!
It is hung rather simply with a spring tension rod!!
I still have the entire flat sheet left that I most likely will use to  make curtains for the window for next Summer.......

And I also did one last spray painting project for this room.......

I bought this set of wicker furniture at a flea market several years ago.......
Since I painted almost everything else in this room white, I decided to give this little doll set a punch of color!!
I spray painted it pink!!
And that completed all the projects that I wanted to do to turn our Guest Room into a Sitting Room.......

Next week, I will be sharing the Reveal of my "New" Sitting Room!!

So I hope you will be back to visit soon!!

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  6. Wow. Great repurpose of that bedding. You did a great job on the chair. You are so creative. I'm not that creative at all. I am more of a copy cat. Looks like Joe got you some real great bargains. When the Cowboy shops he finds some great one too. I wish he would go to the thrift stores by his work more often!
Thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend.

  7. Sheets are so budget friendly aren't they! Look how many gorgeous things you were able to create with them....those pillows are to die for! I have been refreshing Ky's bedroom and came up with some yellow throw pillows that I had made years ago....they found a home in the sun room (the sofa out there has a lot of yellow in it) Yellow always makes me smile....hugs...
