I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

A Patriotic 4th of July Tablescape

  Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

Happy July 4th weekend!!

While Memorial Day is a solemn Observance remembering those who gave their lives in service to this Country, July 4th, on the other hand, is a Celebration of our Freedom as a Country!!!!!

We Celebrate that freedom even though it seems more and more freedom is being taken away from us in this day and age....

I often wonder what our Founding Fathers, who built this Country on the Principle of Separation of Religion and State, would think of it now.......

Enough said as I do not want to get into a Political discussion over something that should not even be a Political issue at all.....

Today, I will be sharing a Patriotic Tablescape for the July 4th Holiday...

In my last post, I shared how I decorated my Kitchen with Hens , Roosters and A Bit of Strawberries for late Spring and Early Summer....

Click HERE to see that post if you missed it....

I want to Thank Pam. over at An Artful Mom, for choosing my post, Another Landscape Project and a Few Crafts  as one of her features from last week's Thursday Favorite Things Party...

Thanks so much, Pam!!

And I also want to Thanks to Andrea, over at Cottage Market, for featuring my post,

 Thanks again, Andrea!!

Please stop by and link up to these wonderful parties....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

Joey treated us to Serpico's, a local Eatery, on Friday....

We got one pie with sliced meatballs on it.....

And one plain pie....

On Saturday, I was just way to hot and humid to cook anything....

90 degrees and tropical dew points....

So I added some mushrooms to a plain Price Chopper pizza and threw it in the oven for 20 minutes with the air conditioning set at 64 degrees.....

Easy Peasy.....

Yes, we do love our pizza!!

Now we never have a dessert with a meal.....

Ever....

But our new neighbors Muhammed and Murak gifted us some authentic New York Cheese Cake....

Family members who came to visit them brought them cheese cake from home on Long Island....

Joey and I really enjoyed it but Joe does not care for cheese cake....

His loss....

I few more pictures of our Grand Pups visit with us while our son Jim and his wife Danielle were away....

Little Faye with her G Pop...

Azumi was finally able to jump up on one of the Dining Room chairs as Faye does it with ease....

It is hard to believe that Faye was 2 years olf on July 1st!!

She is still mischieveous but has also lost some of that puppy energy where Azumi was never as energetic as Faye and is a more laid back pup....

Azumi will be 1 year old in August.......

Faye wanted to help me with my blogging on this day. as I worked on my lap top....

They were so excited when Jim and Danielle came to pick them up on Thursday night....

However, Danielle became ill by Friday morning and unfortunately tested positive for Co Vid and was put on steroids...

Jim is tested negative and still has no symptoms.....

UPDATE:  Just tested positive with a fever....

I was the one that had the most exposure to them but even that was minimal and at a distance of about 6 feet...

She has only body aches and a fever , no cough and is feeling better each day.....

Thank Goodness...

Soooooo.....

It will be another Holiday celebration where Debbie Door Dash is taking Food to them as they have to isolate for 5 days..........

The one thing this life has taught me is to be flexible and not make a big deal out of things out of my control....

Nor do I give unsolicited advice to my kids....

They are old enough to make their own decisions without me telling them what I think....

Makes for a much happier family!!

We had a thunderstorm on Friday evening and I took a few pictures from the front door.....

I liked this view of the flowers on the front porch and in the yard...

And truth be told,  I was going to include my July 4th Front Porch in this post but the humidity has been in the tropical zone with temps. close to 90 degrees, that I was instantly dripping in sweat the moment I walked out the front door to just decorate the porch for the Holiday so I am deferring that along with an update on how the flowers are doing in the front until Wednesday's post....

Speaking of flowers.....

A final look at my Cottage Garden back yard with the Missouri Primrose in bloom as they are just about finished.....

I will be cutting them back for the Season....

.

I did get out the other day and went to Dollar Tree after seeing so many cool things on one of Kippi At Home's  You Tube videos featuring her Dollar Tree Haul....

This is what I came home with.....

You already saw where I used the 2 Patriotic Signs.....

I thought this garden sign was cute....

And I used it on this wreath on the back door....

This will go in the upstairs Sitting Room with it's Garden Theme for the Summer....

Joe bought this for himself....

I hung this on the Tree in the corner of the front porch as I have a matching stake just like it....

Craft supplies...paints and ribbon......

I used the paints to finally make over this sad looking Sun faded Gnone.....

I sprayed him with a coat of Sealer....

And put him here next to the mini Fairy/Gnome Garden Tub....

This I will maybe decoupage flowers on it as I do not do veggies....

And another watering can for the garden.....

I also took mason jar solar lights that no longer worked and put citronella candles in them and placed them on the sconce arms of the mirror out in the Patio.....

And I finally got 2 blooms on this .....

So that is all that went on since Wednesday......

To celebrate the 4th of July, I decided to put together a Patriotic Tablescape....

I never had a solid red tablecloth because it did not match with my rose colored dining room until Trish, who owns the house next to us, gave me some table runners and a red tablecloth that belonged to her partner Desiree's mother, who recently passed away....

So I decided to keep that tablecloth and use it for this tablescape.....

I used 2 Patriotic place mats that Joe bought on Clearance in Wegman's a few years back.....

They are reversible and I used the side with the blue background and white stars.....

Patriotic Star napkins with my red handle flatware...

A red charger plate....

I decided to use my English Village blue transferware dishes....

I paid $1 a piece for dinner plates, tea cups and saucers one lucky day at Salvation Army!!!

I placed the saucer on top of the Dinner plate.....

I love the design on them!!

And I used a set of crystal goblets with a silver edging that were a Wedding gift....

I did the center display in a "God Bless America" theme....

Patriotic Carolers from the Christmas Tree Shop that I imagine singing "God Bless America"....

Fire crackers on each side that I made last year from toilet and paper towel rolls.....

A Patriotic arrangement in a vintage milk glass vase.....

And a "God Bless America" sign

I placed a paper place mat with a flag on it in the center of the table..

Notice how the fabric on the Carolers clothing matches the place mats....

Red, white and blue star votive candle holders....

The matching tea pot, creamer and sugar to the English Village transferware....

I picked these up at a yard sale and the sugar bowl was missing the lid..

I placed a red rose and chrysanthemum in each....

The book titled "God Bless America" was from one of the Veteran's Charities that Joe donates to.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing this Patriotic Tablescape for the 3th of July!!!

And I am glad that Trish and Desiree gifted me this red tablecloth!!!

If you would like to see 2 more Patriotic Tablescapes that I did last year.....

  1. I am not feeling very patriotic this year. We celebrated one of my grandson's third birthday today and some of my kids and grandkids are coming over tomorrow after the parade. We are experiencing those humid days in the 90's, too, and we are not sitting in the sun for two hours to watch a parade. She sent home the leftovers so I don't have to cook anything. Hope your family feels better soon!

  3. Beautiful patriotic table! I never did get my decorations out this year, just been too busy and the garage where I store them just too hot. Sorry Covid has hit, I think it will be a miracle if anyone avoids getting it, we haven't yet but I keep waiting for it. Enjoy your day!!

  5. That old ugly covid making it's rounds for sure. Lord I do not want to go there again! Loving all your red, white and blues. I did not put anything out for patriotic decor this year. The retired life has kept me busy. LOL! Marty and I had a low key July 4th with just the two of us and it was nice. We grilled ribs and just chilled out. Happy July dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  6. Hi Debbie, I really enjoyed this chronicle of yours from the Patriotic 4th of July Tablescape.
But because I love and enjoy painting on porcelain so much, I was delighted with your set of English Village blue transferware dishes..
I also really love their design.
    Congratulations for all this chronicle

  8. I would probably love to look at your table settings. I was disappointed to see such small pictures. I find as I get older my eyesight is not what it used to be anymore. Thank you
