The Making of a Valentine's Day Tree

Welcome to my first post of my Valentine's Day decorations!!

I will be posting my Valentine's Day Decorations all week........

It has been 2 years since I decorated for Valentine's Day so it has taken me quite some time to decorate because I have acquired some new things and replaced some old things in the house.

I leave up my Valentine's Day and Winter Decorations until the end of February because February is Heart Month as deemed by the American Heart Association!!

I left up the 7 foot Tree in the Living Room after Christmas and decorated it as a Valentine's Day Tree as I did in previous years.

First I started with a bow made from red velvet ribbon embossed with roses on it

I added some heart picks from Dollar Tree to the top also.......

You can see the back of the ribbon is gold.......

Then I added 3 garlands......... a red beaded one, a gold and crystal beaded one and a red heart one......

I bought glittered red and gold rose ornaments in Big Lot's this year after Christmas......

And I have amassed over the past 10 - 15 years quite a collection of ornaments that can be used to decorate for Valentine's day .........

Hearts and angels that remind me of Cupids!!

These gold ball ornaments with red hearts on them were bought in Pier One after Christmas many years ago......

Gold Birds because it is supposed to be Good Luck to have a bird on your decorated Trees.....

The gold Angel, Cupid like ornaments were bought at Michaels over the years......

The Heart ornaments with the gold flowers, snow flakes and music notes on them were bought in A.C. Moore's and were used in past years to decorate a Valentine's Day in the Den but this year, I decorated the Tree in the Den as a Winter Tree, which you can click HERE if you missed that post to see!!

The gold mercury glass Heart ornaments was bought in Target after Christmas.....

These ornaments and garlands made the "base" of my Valentine's Day Tree!!

You can see that the color theme for the Living Room for Valentine's Day is primarily Red and Gold!!

Now it was time to add the specialty ornaments........

The gold picture frame ornaments were bought at Dollar General one year and I put Valentine's Day Victorian Style tags in them!!

Be sure to look after Christmas for ornaments that can be used for other Holidays such as hearts for Valentine's Day and of course, you can make your own ornaments too!!

In my next post, I will share how I decorated underneath the Tree as I left the platform from my Christmas Village in place........

An update on Google Friend Connect

In 2011, we announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. We made an exception for Blogger to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. Yet over time, we’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.

As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.

We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.
