I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

Patriotic Crafts, 2015

Even though I posted these for Memorial Day, these Decorations are still up in my home and I am linking up to the Patriotic Party Over at Common Ground that runs from July 2-5, 2015 , hosted by
Debra!!
I am linking up this post from 2015 to these great 2016 parties!!

Back to my original post.......

I have been busy doing my Patriotic Decorating for the Summer Holidays.........

But I had an IBS attack the other day with abdominal pain and cramping and those other symptoms which I will not mention to gross you out( keeping it real here!) so I was taking it easy and thought of what I could do instead of sitting around doing nothing........

You see "taking it easy" is really not in my vocabulary......

When I unpacked my Patriotic decorations, I found a pack of stickers that I bought last year on Clearance for $1.00!!
I was thinking about what I could do with them and realized that I use a few red, white and silver plain ball ornaments on my Patriotic Tree........
So I decided to "Dabble" a bit with these ornaments and create my own Patriotic Ornaments for my Patriotic Tree!
I don't think they are plain anymore!!!

After Christmas, keep on the look out for any type of ornaments that you can use or change into ornaments for other Holidays.

I do An Autumn Tree and use a lot of gold and copper and orange plain ball ornaments but I think I will be on the lookout for some pretty Autumn Leaf Stickers to dress them up a bit!! I think I may actually already have some!!

I think my new Patriotic Ornaments look great on my Patriotic Tree......
I know many of you may remember this Tree from other years but I still want to share how it looks this year......
I used a new topper this year......
It actually is a table decorations from Dollar Tree!
It reminds me of Fireworks Exploding!!
Underneath it is a bow that I made out of 2 ribbons.....
One says"God Bless America" and the other is Flag like.....
The garland is from Dollar Tree and is Red, Blue and Silver.....
Which gave me the idea to add some silver ornaments to the Tree.....
Near the top is an "Ameica" wooden plaque....
Most of the ornaments are Christmas ornaments........
And I do have some Patriotic Ornaments.....
Streamers of Patriotic Ribbon flow down from the top of the Tree......
And the Tree itself is wrapped with wired Star Garland.......

The Red Star ornaments were bought by Joe on Clearance for 90% off at Big Lots after Christmas......
The 3 ornaments cost 10 cents!!

Now here are some of my "new' Patriotic Ornaments that I crafted!!
I have several packs of Paper Mache Stars that I am going to play around with soon and will add to this Tree........
This Tree stays up all Summer, until Labor Day , to celebrate the Summer Patriotic Holidays!!
I did this little Floral arrangement in a Dollar Tree pot a few years ago but decided to add the Flags to it.....
The Flowers were also bought at Dollar Tree.....
And I added a few of those Stickers to the pot......
I think it dressed it up a bit more.....
I had fun doing some Patriotic Crafting!!
I still have more decorations that I wish to share with you but I will save that for my next post!!

We may have FROST in the morning so I will be covering all my annuals!!  UGH!!!

Wishing you a Happy Memorial Day but let us not forget the TRUE Meaning of this Holiday.......

Remembering those who served and died Fighting for our Freedom.......

My Dad was a World War II Army Veteran...
And Joe's Dad was a Marine in the Korean War who was wounded 3 times and is a Purple Heart Recipient.....
Last year, Joe and his Dad along with Jimmy, Danielle and Joey were able to visit the War Memorial in Washington, DC.....

This is the Korean War Memorial , which I find quite striking, almost haunting....
Jimmy, Joey, Joe and Joe's Dad, Joe at the Korean War Memorial.....

Remember to say THANK YOU to a Veteran this Weekend!!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!!!

A Tale of 3 Curios, Part 3

Some time ago ( last year), I mentioned that my neighbor's sons were kind enough to give me 3 Curios from my neighbor Elly's house, which we are watching because she needed to be placed in a Nursing Home due to Alzheimer's.

I displayed these 2 Curios in my Dining Room.

Before I go any further, I want to Thank Dee ,over at Meatloaf and Melodrama, for featuring my post, Spring Front Porch 2015, from last week's Snickerdoodle Sunday Party!
And I also want to Thank Jes, over at Strangers and Pilgrims on Earth , for also featuring my post,
Spring Front Porch, from last week's The Art of Home Making Mondays Party!!
Thanks so much, Dee and Jes!!

Please stop by and visit and link up to these wonderful parties!!

Now I want to show you the 3rd Curio that was my dear neighbor, Elly's.....
It is a corner Curio, which was a nightmare to photograph!!
I decided to put it up in my Guest Room.........
It has actually been here since before Christmas but I just did not get around to doing a post on it.......
I have been working in the Guest Room for the past week....

Cleaning out and re-arranging and adding some new things , which I have to paint.......

It's all part of my Quest for this year of simplifying my life so I can LIVE, which is my One Little Word for 2015!!

The curio fits nicely in this corner of the Guest Room , which I call my little Bed and Breakfast Room.
I was able to keep the shelf above it and moved the other shelf that I had here into the Craft Room.......
I took photos both with and with out the Light in the Curio on.......

There is a lot of reflection because of the mirrors......
You see that I draped some greenery around the top of the Curio.....
I decided to display an Angel Collection that I have and originally displayed in the Hutch in the Living Room.........
Since the Guest Room is yellow and pink, I thought that they would look better in this room........
I also chose to display my Mother's yellow Depression glass in this curio.........
 The pattern is Lorraine Basket.....
On this shelf , is another angel and 2 cup and saucer sets that I bought a few years back at The Christmas Tree Shop.......
The Angels were bought at the now closed Service Merchandise Stores......
On this shelf is a yellow Depression Glass pitcher and 2 tea cups and saucer sets bought at a Church Flea Market.......
And a little knick knack that was one of the last things that my Mom gifted to me before she passed away......
The pattern on the pitcher is Florentine #2.......
Another Angel is sitting on a yellow Depression Glass plate , along with a creamer and sugar , is displayed on this shelf.......
One more Angel is displayed on the bottom shelf......
Along with a plate and 2 tumblers.....
Next to the Curio is Rose, sitting on a pedestal that needs to be painted white.......
I'll share more of this room with you in the future.......
I love the way the Curio looks lit up......
Sorry but I took these photos during the day.......
Another thing I worked on in this room is my Fake Fireplace and Mantle........
Again, more in a future post.......

We have had a very cold week here with temps. only in the low 50's and in the 30's over night....

This week is predicted to be the same......

It still does not feel like Spring yet......

I was off this weekend and decided to make a double batch of lasagna, invite the kids over and enjoy some time spent with my Family!!

Also, this weekend our Church held it's Spring Flea Market........

I did NOT help out at all except for some advertising NOR did I go!!! I donated quite a bit of things and did NOT want to bring more back!!

Again, Celebrating my One Little Word for 2015 ........LIVE!!!!!
