In my last post, I shared How I did with my September Monthly Goals...
Please stop by and link up to these great parties!!
And now for a few Personal Notes...
Happy Columbus Day!!
And Happy Thanksgiving to all those from the great country of Canada!!
I am still convinced that Canada is doing it right and we in the United States are so WRONG when it comes to Thanksgiving...
They celebrate the Harvest during the Harvest and not at the end of November when the Harvest is long over and everything is now bare and Winter is coming...
PLUS, they get a much longer Christmas Season then we do even though that has never ever stopped me!!
And MOST OF ALL, I wish you all a very HAPPY INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY!!!
They are the ONLY TRUE AMERICANS because the rest of us are all descendants of Immigrants that came to this Country seeking a better life!!!
I am the very PROUD daughter of a Birth Right Citizen, born to Polish Immigrants, who had not yet attained their US citizenship prior to having their 8 children....
5 of those siblings, my Dad and his 4 brothers, went on to serve in WWII, becoming part of the "Greatest Generation" fighting for the freedoms that we enjoy today.....
Immigrants are the back bone of this Country and will always be as far as I am concerned!!
After all, Christopher Columbus was the first Immigrant to this Country....
I did another back yard leaf clean up last week before more rain came....
I blow them against the back of the house and just shovel them like snow into a garbage bag!!
I also packed up all of my faux flowers that I bought in the Spring and "planted" in my pots...
Much to my surprise, the frost that we had the other day did not kill these begonias that had reseeded themselves in the back yard...
Unfortunately, these are my asters in the back yard....

Not one bloom on the deep purple ones....
And these are the only blooms on the light lavender ones...
They did not grow but I suspect that some insect, like maybe aphids, chewed them right down....
Maybe next year, they will return to their normal beauty when in full bloom....
Several years ago, I saw this Tree on Pinterest....
Since I decorate my Powder Room in Pink and Black, this picture inspired me to decorate it for Halloween ....
In Pink and Black!!
I have been doing so for the past few years now.....
I made this wreath for the Powder Room door....
Black cats that I made...
I hung a Dollar Tree sign fro the wreath....
The sink area...

With the lights off....
I hung an owl ornament and placed a black crow on the shelf....
I embellished this half pumpkin bought at Michael's.....
I placed pumpkins on top of the medicine cabinet....
And placed black roses in silver mercury glass candle votives....
I made the signs with the lettering on them , using letter stickers...
With the lights off....
A Halloween chandy ornament hangs from the knob on the medicine cabinet....
The Beware sign is a Dollar Tree find....
The wicker shelf unit above the commode....
A pumpkin I made from ruffled trim on the top shelf with a Dollar Tree tombstone....
Silver mercury glass owls, bought in Penney's after Christmas one year, along with a gray fabric pumpkin on the bottom shelf.......
I kept out my pink towels....
A silver acorn and pine cone from Dollar Tree and a Dollar Tree Plus skull bowl which I placed a toilet paper pumpkin that I made inside of it...
In the corner....
This year, I decided to hang this Skeleton Bride sign, from Dollar Tree, on the vintage tole tray in the corner....
I think the flowers on the tray go well with the flowers on the sign....
I also hung Halloween ornaments from the tray.....
I packed away a lot of my regular decor pieces, replacing them with Halloween decor....
The top shelf....
I ran off Witch pictures that I found online and placed them in the silver frames....

I replaced the regular mirror here with a Halloween one bought in Big Lot's....
I placed a silver bat window cling in the arrangement in the vase...
Spiders, a mouse, a Jack O' Lantern and a skull jar....
The bottom shelf...
The skull, with pink roses on it, came from Dollar Tree...
Pumpkins, a spider potion bottle and more spiders....
On a 3 shelf stand next to the estagere....
I added a few spiders, another gray fabric pumpkin....

I thought the purple lights on it were perfect for this room!!

A silver mercury glass pumpkin on the bottom shelf...
What you see when you walk in to the room....

Pier one plates on each shelf....
With silver pine cones....
I decided to hang the Groom Skeleton sign on the sconce above the wall shelf unit ....
The scones on each side of the shelf unit....
A groom skeleton ornament bought in Ross years ago...
And a Bride one on the other side....
You can see I am going with a bit of the theme here....
A skeleton Bride and Groom bought at Michael's....
I embellished pink velvet like pumpkins from Dollar Tree and added a crow and a mouse....
The top shelf....
A Dollar Tree tombstone and a Creepy sign from Big Lot's....
I left out my antique bridal party picture....

The bottom shelf....
A pumpkin, I painted and embellished, is held by a silver boney hand....
Potion bottles and maybe a pink book of spells.........
I hung black cat ornaments that I made from the wall sconces...
Above the closet that houses my washer and dryer....
A silver Christmas wreath, bought on clearance at Big Lot's, that I glued a Dollar Tree spider web to....
I really had a good time decorating the Powder Room for Halloween this year as I tried to change things up a bit....
And by packing away most of my normal decor for this room, it will make it so much easier to decorate it for Christmas and Winter in my Snow Buddy theme, which will happen the day after Halloween....
If you want to compare what this Powder Room looks like normally....
I hope you enjoyed this post!!!

I love the combo of pink and black for Halloween decor, Deb! It's so elegant and perfect for a powder room! I hope you are well and enjoying the autumn season!
ReplyDeleteI just love a pink and black bathroom. They always seem so 1920's/1930's glamorous! And now with the Halloween touches it is like a glamorous gothic Victorian bathroom! So pretty. I really appreciate all the small touches that you add each year. Just Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are "BOO-TIFUL" ! The pink and black bathroom looks amazing !
ReplyDeleteI've got chills.
