I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

Today, I will be sharing a Winter Woodland in my Den....

In my last post, I shared how I changed over Christmas decor to Winter decor on the Front Porch and Front Yard.......

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

Here in NEPA, we get an average of roughly 45 inches of snow a year....

Last year was a BUST when it came to Winter and Snow....

This past December was one of the warmest in record here.....

But January is shaping up to be more like the Winter's of the past here in NEPA!!!!!

We already had a larger snowfall in a single event than any we had last year....

5 inches in a single snowfall.....

We also had Snow Squalls that moved through this past Sunday causing white out conditions for about 15 minutes....

And dumped a quick inch of snow....

And on Tuesday, we had another 2-3 inches of snow and are expecting more tomorrow!!!

I have decorated the Den for Winter for several years now and I really enjoy doing so....

Especially with weather like this all this week....

When I think of Winter, I think of what the Woods look like in the Winter after a fresh snowfall....

I love how the trees look frosted with a fresh dusting of snow.....

I imagine the Birds and Deer in the Woods....

And Snowmen too, of course.....

And that is how I decorate the Den for Winter......

Let's start this part of the tour of our Den when you walk into the room from the Kitchen, looking to the left....

The Den used to be our back patio and was made into another room by my Dad over 40+ years ago....

I made this wreath using a sign from Dollar Tree.....

You may notice that there are several "Believe" signs in this room, some that I leave up year round....

They are a good reminder of  One having to "Believe" in oneself!!!

Do you remember the snow ball picks that I recently bought at Big Lot's after Clearance?????

I used some here in this arrangement.....

This is where I store my TV remotes for streaming....

Another wreath that I made hangs on the door of the storage room.....

A Dollar Tree Owl hangs in the center of it...

With a large snowflake ornament hanging from the bottom of it....

My cozy little corner.....

In the Woods, there are many Birds.....

Among them are Owls....

Also there are Deer in the Woods and we still, on occasion, get to see one or two at the edge of our Woods on the side of our townhouse development.....

Remember the deer I bought at the church flea market in the Summer???

I used them in the Dining Room Hutch for Christmas.....

And now, I moved them out into the Den for the Winter....

"Wanted...One Magic Hat"

"Home is my Happy Place"

These were both gifts from friends....

I changed out the bow on the sled to match the other ones I used in this room for the Winter.....

And you can see that I am using this throw that I recently bought on Clearance in Big Lot's here when I sit in my cozy little corner to watch TV when Joe is watching his Hockey games in the Living Room....

The other Deer...

In the corner....

I framed 2 Thomas Kinkade Winter prints....

Added snowmen to the vintage phone...

I also added more of those snowball picks to the arrangement in the tin pocket.....

I took away the Santa that matches the Snowman under the cloche.....

I added a burlap tree that I made....

I moved the lighted picture that I bought in Big Lot's in the Fall here, after using it in the Living Room for Christmas......

It reminds me an old Church, just off on the edge of the Woods...

On the shelf by the ceiling....

I bought the flocked trees in Dollar Tree and the Snowman was another find at that Flea Market.......

I added 2 plates that I bought in Gabes several years ago....

I also have used a lot of snowballs and pine cones around the Den...

I hung snowman tag ornaments from the sconces and also clipped pine cone ornaments to them.....

On the shelf below the picture.....

More Winter Birds in the Woods.....

On top of the chair is a Snowman from my late neighbor Elly's Snowman Collection and that One Magic Hat!!!!!

The back door.....

A Snowman slate from Elly's Collection and a snowflake garland.....

A wreath that I made......

Next to the door......

My Thomas Kinkade Four Season Clock........

Another Owl out in the Woods....

Did you see where I used this that I got for Free in the Summer at that church Flea Market on the last day?

I placed a flocked tree in it...

I will be sharing my Winter Woodland Tree in my next post.....

On the side of the Tree.....

More Snowmen and a deer.....

Snowflakes on the windows...

More Winter Birds on the shelves......

I will also be sharing this Wall Tree and my Winter Thomas Kinkade Village in my next post...

On a vintage smoking stand between the computer armoire and the Doll House....

Of course, you have to have a Penguin or two in the Winter.....

Remember the trees that I bought on Clearance in J.C. Penney's???

I used one of them here, wrapping a small set of fairy lights around it....

And this is where I will leave off for today.....

I do hope you enjoyed how I tried to create a Winter Woodland look and feel to my Den...

I will be continuing my Tour of the Den decorated for Winter on MONDAY, sharing my Winter Wonderland Tree.....

And the Winter Village underneath it....

The Thomas Kinkade Village....

A Wall Tree decorated with Owls....

How I changed over the China Cupboard from Christmas to Winter....

And my Winter Bird Tree!!

  1. We have a lot of ducks/geese in our house in various mediums. There is such a beauty to having birds come visit inside with us in whatever ways they can. :)

  2. So YOU started it with the Let It Snow theme! Ha! I love your birds and snowfolk. They make me smile. If we have to have winter, bring on the birds!

  3. Your snow pictures are so awesome!! I kept staring at them to see how you did the special effects!!!! It is finally winter west of you on Lake Erie, too. Monday was a day off school, Tuesday and Wednesday were snow days and tomorrow (with an additional 8 inches forecasted tonight) will probably be the 3rd snow day this week. Depending on when they make the call - we either have a house full of kids or no kids. I guess I will find out when I wake up in the morning. Stay warm!

  6. So many fun winter accessories to peek at Deb...a great distraction from all the snow and ice! I think my favorites are the snowman on your front porch, the red plates and the red and white pitchers. Can you sense a theme? Hahaha!! Stay warm!!

  7. Your photos from your front porch of the snow squalls were amazing. With the lamp post and iron railings, they seemed to evoke scenes from Victorian times (in my mind's eye, at least). I also like how the decor in your den represented wildlife in winter, reminding me to be more observant!

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by! I was amazed myself at how those pictures of the snow squall came out as I did nothing differently as far as the camera was concerned.... It was blowing and coming down really hard so I guess that is how they just came out... I hope it is warm where you are!! Have a great weekend!!
