I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

 A NOTE ABOUT COMMENTS

I enjoy reading your comments and will return the favor by visiting and commenting on your blog or reply to you directly here if you do not have a blog but I do have my comment section set to Moderation due to spammers and hackers so your comment will not appear immediately...
And since I have a very busy life, like most of us do, it may take me awhile to return your comments but I promise I will....
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my last post, I shared our New Year's Celebrations.....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

Truth be told......

I am a bit under the weather.....

Sinuses are acting up and I have been getting frequent sinus headaches as a result.....

This has been a busy Holiday Season...

Between all the decorating I do starting with Fall and Halloween and trying to keep up with doing blog posts 3 times a week.....

It has been absolutely GRUELING keeping that schedule of blogging to say the least....

On top of the stress of my son and DIL being pregnant with twins....

And praying she would not go into labor before the scheduled delivery date which was suddenly moved up by a week to the week between Christmas and New Year's.....

All that on top of cooking all 4 Holiday dinners for Christmas and New Year's and baking......

By the way, the new little family is doing just fine on their own!!!

All pictures are compliments of my son Jim and his FB account.....

And the pups are adjusting to the 2 new members of the family....

I just need to take a break and BREATHE!!!!!

Everyone kept asking me if I was excited about the Twins and finally now, that they are here and all went well basically....

Yes, I am now excited!!!!

Before that I was worried and anxious....

Being a former nurse can be a burden and it definitely was a burden, knowing everything that could possibly go wrong with a multiple birth pregnancy.....

They say ignorance is Bliss and in this case, I sure wished I was ignorant!!!

I do not consider myself a nervous person, as I was always in charge of handling any emergencies at work because of the skeleton staff that worked on night shift and I was forced to always handle everything at home, but I was nervous for the last 8 months....

To combat those nerves, I kept myself busy.....

Extremely busy....

I now need to get my wits about me and gain my footing again so to speak...

 Plus.....

All my Christmas decorations will stay up until Ephipany, January 7th.....

Feast of The Three Kings. which officially ends the Christmas Holiday Season in the Catholic Church....

And it is Russian Christmas which is still celebrated in NEPA......

"In Russia, the Gregorian calendar was adopted only in 1918 by the decree of the Soviet Government. January 31 that year was followed by February 14. The Russian church didn't accept the changes and continue to celebrate Christmas on 25 December in the Julian calendar, which is 7 January in the Gregorian calendar."

I am rescheduling a few visits of friends and family too that were supposed to visit during the week between Christmas and New Year's...

So right now, I really do not have any new content to share...

I am working on my "One Little Word", Word of the Year post for 2024.....

I actually have chosen a Theme again for this year but I am still working on what my Word of the Year will be....

I know this year will definitely be a year of Change in a lot of ways which I also will reveal in that post....

So with that being said......

Stay tuned.....

I will be back on MONDAY, January 8th.....

I just need a break right now.........

 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. Congratulations, Mimi! You certainly deserve a break after all that. Enjoy your time with the sweet little ones and feel better. Mind if I ask how long it takes you to do a post? I know nothing about what's involved, but they're picture heavy and it seems like it would take some serious time to bring up all those pics. That's a lot of work. Take care, Debbie.

    1. PJ,
It varies on how long a post takes...If I am starting fresh and taking pictures for a particular post, there is the time to take the pictures which then are uploaded to my computer where I edit the pictures, then downloaded to a blog post, write the post and arrange the pictures how I want them and then provide links if needed to other posts,etc...On average, an entire post takes anywhere from 5 to 7 hours which I usually split over several days...I usually star the next post as soon as I post the previous one....Doing this 3 times a week is grueling but it is the only way I can share everything that I want to share especially during the Holidays...In the Summer, I usually do 2 posts a week which is a lot easier....Thanks so much for stopping by and thank you for your kind and encouraging words!!!
      Hugs,
      Deb

  2. Of course you need a week off! So much excitement (and so much relief) that they are safely here! So precious. And you need to take care of you, too! We have been battling colds (not Covid) and it takes us too much time to get back on our feet at our age. Today we have convinced the preschoolers to sit in chairs with blankets on our laps. ZZZZZ

  4. Goodness, you'll certainly need time off to pack all that stuff away! The babies are so pretty, what a blessing to have them join the family. What more could one want, Mom and Dad look so happy. Is this the last year you will be decorating like this? I can't imagine 12-month-olds trying to visit in that. Good thing you have so many pictures to remember it by.

    1. Thanks for stopping by...First of all, I do not take down and pack away all the Christmas decorations that I have up...I do leave a good amount of Trees and other decorations that can be used for Winter and/or Valentine's Day...So it actually is pretty easy as it comes down in stages so to speak.....The upstairs does not get packed up until some time in February after i get the entire downstairs changed over to Winter/ Valentine's... And I absolutely will be continuing to decorate exactly like i do now....I did so when my sons were young as did my Mother with me....I was brought up that if you pack all your nice things away or do not put them out, children will never know how to behave around those things... My MIL made the same comment to me on the day I had my oldest son about putting all my nice things away and i told her that i had no intention of doing so. She laughed but I got the last laugh in the end when she used to tell everyone how well behaved my sons were compared to her other grandchildren....Also my dogs and our grand pups do not bother anything either as they too were taught not to...
      Happy New Year!
      Hugs,
      Deb

  6. Welcome to the new baby grand girls, glad everyone is doing well, including you Grandma. I personally don't know how you do it all. I cut way back on my blogging, just to be easier on myself. Enjoy your break from blogging.

  7. What a great Blog post. I have been gone way to long from Blogging. Love coming back and finding you are a new Grandma..What beautiful little girls they are also. The heads of hair is amazing. We will be adding another Great Grandbaby next month. Will make us 17 great Grands.
We have had so much going on I had totally gotten away from Blogging . Finely got into my Christmas Blog a few days ago and did a post. Hope now to get working on both the blogs once again. Just got to figure out how I can get my pictures to download. New laptop and a strange photo program and can not get it to switch to something I am used too.
Hugs from Michigan and Happy New Year to you.

  10. Debbie, I totally get it!! It was a busy season in my house, too. So much so, that I didn't post, didn't read, didn't even open my laptop for a few weeks. I'm just getting back to it now. Thank you for all your lovely comments on my posts and congratulations again on the birth of those sweet babies. Enjoy them and feel well...Kim

  11. A break sounds like just what you need, plus do consider easing up the pressure on yourself. Only do what serves you, your blog is to share your beautiful decorating and ideas, not to stress yourself out. If 3 times a week serves you then fantastic, if it doesn't then maybe consider a change. Also thanks for sharing those gorgeous baby pics, they are so precious :-)

  12. Congratulations on the beautiful granddaughters!!! Being a grandparent is THE best!! I am with you on using the "good" stuff while children are young and not changing your total lifestyle. Maybe hide the scissors for a few years . . . j:-) As a nurse, you probably are more aware than most of us what can go wrong.
