You may have noticed that I have not posted for a week......
I have been very busy working on something that I started thinking about 3 years ago!!!!
But first, I want to Thank Create With Joy for featuring my post, Newly Crafted Patriotic Ornaments,
from last week's Inspire Me Monday Party!!!
Thanks so much!
Please stop by and link up to this great party!!
I will be doing several posts leading up to the reveal of what I am calling my Summer "Under the Sea" Tree!!
This is an idea that I have had for some time now especially since my neighbor, who now resides in a Nursing Home, collected shells while she lived in Miami during the Winters.
Her sons were going to throw away boxes and boxes of shells that she cleaned, bleached and organized according to size!!!
I naturally said that I would take them........
These are just some of the shells.
I did gave away quite a few of them to neighbors and friends!!
We had a 3 day stretch of 90 degree weather with high humidity and since I was off from work and stuck in the house with the air conditioning blaring, I started to create some ornaments using these shells for my 'Under the Sea" Tree!!!!
In this post, I will share some of the ornaments that I made from these shells.........
Since the color theme of our Living Room is aqua and peach, I decided that those colors would also be the theme for my Tree......
I used aqua and peach ribbon that I already had to create the hangers for the ornaments.....
You can see that I glued small shells onto to larger ones.....
I glued beads around the edges and then glittered the finished ornaments......
These are just a little different........
I glued gems from old costume jewelry to each of these........
I used different shells as the base for these ornaments......
They have a coral color to them......
Again, I used beads and rhinestone trim to outline the larger shells,,,,,
You can see the aqua beads on these that I used.......
And, again, I pretty much covered the entire ornaments with an iridescent glitter......
Another type of Shell.........
You can see that I used different beads to embellish these....
With these shells, I again used the tufts of "grass" and a rhinestone trim for embellishments......
In my next post, I will be sharing more of the ornaments that I have been making......
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

Hello from BC, Canada! I've been following your blog for a while but I haven't made many comments. I love your blog!! I love your house!! I love your yard and your seasonal trees! But I especially love your Victorian style in such lovely colors. I love these ornaments - did you make ALL of them! Can I be your lowly apprentice? haha I'm working on my blog but I'm clueless. Thank you your wonderful blog! ( ps if I make some typos and such it's because I'm at the beginning of a migraine. No worries though. Blessings! Linda
ReplyDeleteI love how the ornaments turned out. What a great idea. Love how you added the pretty beads and bits of jewels to the shells too. So darling. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI wondered where you had been! Your coastal themed tree is going to be awesome with all those gorgeous shell ornaments you have created! I can't wait to see it....hugs.....
ReplyDeleteThese seashell ornaments look amazing, Debbie! And a lot of work!!! You've really come up with some creative ways to use all of those shells. I have a box of shells, too, but not as nearly all that you have. I've been thinking of using a few of my shells to decoupage a bottle. Nothing spectacular as a shell tree, though. Can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty, Debbie! Thanks for sharing your lovely ornaments at Vintage Charm! Pinning and sharing on my FB page!
ReplyDeleteOh my I see you kept very busy during that HOT weather!! These are terrific, I bet she would be thrilled to see that they went to beautiful use in these ornaments instead of being thrown away!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, you are amazing! I would have just been lazy with three days off. '-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful way to use the shell collection that you rescued.
what a great way to use a shell collection, often we will find shells at garage sales and now I know what to do with them

What beautiful handmade ornaments! I love all the detailed shells. Good for you to rescue them! Think what effort your neighbor went to to wash, bleach, and organize them! These are one-of-a-kind! Pinned & thanks for sharing this at Sweet Inspiration this week!
