I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

Newly Crafted Patriotic Ornaments, 2017

Welcome!!

I wanted to share with you some ornaments that I made and some that I embellished to use for my Patriotic Summer Tree in the Living Room!!

I have been going through all my Craft supplies and creating things for myself since I decided to no longer be a Crafter at local craft fairs for now......

So when I found a small tub of things that could be used for Patriotic ornaments, I thought I better do some "dabbling" with them before I take down my Patriotic Summer Tree!!

I will be linking up this post to the Christmas in July Party because it shows how you can decorate a "Tree" for other seasons and Holidays!!
I bought these paper mache stars when our local A.C.Moore store went out of business and closed......
I spray painted them blue.........

I had some patriotic flag toothpicks left over from when I used them to decorate my Victorian doll house......
I cut the flags off the toothpicks and then decoupaged them on to the stars......
I then glued a red tinsel trim, white beads and red and silver stars to the ornaments.......
I used blue velvet ribbon to create the ornament hanger.......
I did not have enough flags for the last blue star so I used some white paint to highlight the star and then glued on the red tinsel trim, white beads and red and silver stars......
I also had 2 flat paper mache stars.......

So I painted them white and added the trim and beads and stars........
I also glued vintage looking Patriotic tags onto each one........
I had 3 bags of stars....red, blue and silvers ones so I decided to embellish a few plain ornaments that I already had on the Tree......
I also had a blue felt star trim in my stash so I embellished a few more ornaments using the trim........
Joe received these 2 Patriotic coasters through the mail for donating to a Veteran's group so I decided to make them into ornaments!!
You can see how the one on the left looked before I embellished it.......
So here are some of the ornaments that I "dabbled" with.......
And here they are on the Tree.........
Let's take a closer look........
I will probably be "un-decorating" this Tree at the end of July and decorating it differently for the remainder of the Summer but I am going to leave that a secret until I finish it.......

In my next post, I will continue with my Summer Kitchen Series.......
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

  3. Wow you have been busy and these all look fantastic... even though I am a vintage girl and totally love those, I think my favorite is the flags you decoupaged onto the dimentional stars, that is just too cool!

  4. Hi Debbie, Doing some catch up and so happy to see what you've been up to this summer. Can't wait to see what's next for your tree! Your patriotic tree is always I fav. Love the new ornaments. I am still writing. Will begin editing books 1 & 2 of a cozy series late this summer. I'm baby sitting for my grand daughter every other week which keeps me busy too. I miss you on FB but understand why you're not there after being hacked. Happy summer days to you my friend!
