I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

My Summer "Under the Sea" Tree

 Welcome!!!

In previous post, I have shared all the ornaments that I made to decorate this Tree........
 Most of these ornaments were made from sea shells that my neighbor, Elly, had collected when she lived in Miami for the Winters......
She now resides in a Nursing Home close to her son who lives near Phila. because she has Alzheimer's........

Her sons were going to throw out all those shells that she cleaned, bleached and painstakingly organized according to size!!

So I took them!!!

 You may remember the 6 foot white Tree that I have had in the corner in the Living Room since Easter...

Here it is decorated for Easter.........
Then I decorated it for the Summer Patriotic Holidays of Memorial Day and the 4th of July.......
Other years, I left this Tree decorated like this until Labor Day but for several years now, I wanted to do something else with this Tree for the rest of the Summer after the 4th of July.......

When I took all those shells, I thought of a Beach Tree or something along those lines.....

The reason why I am calling this my "Under the Sea" Tree is because it is decorated with items from under the sea like sea shells, sand dollars, sea horses, star fish and anchors..........
I chose the colors of aqua with a bit of peach because they are the colors of my Living Room........
I am really proud of this decorated Tree because this is the first Tree that I have done that is solely decorated with ornaments that I have made!!!
 
So let's start at the beginning with the stripped down Tree.......
I also want to mention that I bought this Tree at Walmart one year after Christmas on Clearance for $10!!!!

I made a garland out of aqua deco mesh that I already had.......
 I bunched up the deco mesh about every 10 inches and tied it off using twine bought at Dollar Tree......
 I wrapped the deco mesh garland around the Tree.......
I love how it glistens with the lights on!!

I like to top off my Trees with a Bow because they are easy to make and you can make them to match whatever ribbon you that maybe you have on the Tree.......
I used aqua and white deco mesh ribbon for the bow........
And for a few streamers..........

I found these branches at Dollar Tree as part of their Fall Florals but that reminded me of something that you would see by the Sea........
I then added netting that I bought in Michael's a few years ago when I made a few Beach wreaths to sell at a Craft Fair......
I wrapped it around the Tree.......
Next, I found the rope that Joe usually uses to tie up my other large Trees when we move them down to our storage shed after they are bagged up after the Winter.....
It reminded me of rope that is used on boats so I added that to the Tree......
Joe will have to find a different rope for tying up the Trees next year......

Then I started to add the ornaments.......
And here is what it looks like all decorated..........

    What a nice tribute to your neighbors shell collection. I like all the ornaments you made but my favorite are the starfish. I never can make a garland look good on a tree and you did an excellent job. I love how creative you were with each ornament you made. Great job the tree is beautiful.

    Wow, I've never seen a beach and shell-themed tree before! I like how you used the netting and the mesh ribbon as tree accents. The netting looks very nautical & fits in so well.     You must feel so incredibly proud Debbie, just seeing all the decorations you made on the tree like that is just WOW. And that gorgeous, gauzy blue ribbon and netting are the perfect backdrop and fillers for an under the sea theme. I bet if your friend Elly saw what you've done with the shells she collected she would be over the moon. It's such a lovely tribute
