And now for a few Personal Notes...
Well, we went from temps. with high's in the 60's right up to the 90's!
Crazy!

At least over the weekend and early next week, we will have weather that is close to average for NEPA at this time of year...
If it never hit 80 degrees, I would be thrilled.....
I do not do well in the heat and humidity because of my auto immune disease....
On Tuesday, my son Jim came and put in my air conditioners....
When we bought this air conditioner for the Living Room window, it came with panels to go over the accordion sides!
Genius!!
So much so that I cut pieces of white poster board to use on the sides of the other 2 air conditioners holding them in place with white masking tape, sealing everything so no air or bugs can get in!!
It definitely gives a more finished look if you have to use window air conditioners like I do since I do not have central air...
These air conditioners will stay in the windows until the end of September....
When Jim came to put my air conditioners in, Danielle walked up with him with the twins....
They were tired, as they did not take a nap, and I think they were also warm......

Jim was trying to get them to stop crying....
I told them it was okay, as I understand, plus they are also at that age where they cry when they see other people than their parents...
Seeing them still made my day as I do not get to see them often because of their work schedules...
Jim and Danielle work opposite shifts so they do not need baby sitters...
I think if my husband was still alive, they may have had us do some baby sitting but when there are 2 babies the same age, I think they were concerned for me being able to care for both at the same time and I truly appreciate that because until they are older, I am not sure I would be able to do that, physically....
Today, I am continuing the tour of my Kitchen decorated for Early Summer.....
The
Kitchen is decorated now in what I call a French Country Farmhouse type
of theme with Roos, Hens and Bees for early Summer...
In my last post, I left off here at this part of the Kitchen where I have my Beverage Bar area set up....
Another Home Interiors picture that I covered with a place mat from Dollar Tree....
I bought this egg wreath in Michael's and embellished it over the years....
This is my Beverage Bar......
Even though it is Summer, I still enjoy my morning coffee with my flavored creamers....
And a cup of flavored Tea or Hot Cocoa on ocassion.....

I made a few changes after Easter.....

I bought the coffee bottle cap sign on Amazon several years ago.....

The vintage Parkview coffee cup was my late neighbor Elly's.....

Instant coffee is in the glass canister.....

Some honey, flavored coffee and vintage coffee and tea containers....
The vintage cocoa jar was my late neighbor Elly's.....

I kept out the Minnie and Mickey Mouse mugs that Jim and Danielle gifted me after they went to Disney World a few years ago.......
"Cuddle in a Cup"
The Cozy mug was gifted to me by a neighbor....
Two Dollar Tree Bee mugs and another mug gifted to me by Jim and Danielle....
I placed a Bee place mat from Dollar Tree on top of a red and white checked one....
Bee bowls and yellow plates from Dollar Tree hold my flavored creamers along with another mug gifted to me by Jim and Danielle....
On top of the fridge.....
I bought this guy in Big Lot's several years ago...

I bought this vintage wire basket at a yard sale many years ago for $1!
Vintage egg cups and a new hen plate bought at Gabes a few weeks ago....
Eggs in the mason jar with the lamp attachment added to it....

Moving on to the counter bar, which I designed for much needed storage and counter space, and had a friend build........

I blocked the pass through to the Dining Room with shutters and a stained glass panel, creating a faux window....

The other day I was sitting in the Living Room in the morning with no lights on in my Dining Room....
I looked into the Dining Room and this is what I saw....
The lamp on the counter bar was on in the Kitchen, creating this stained glass window effect in the Dining Room....
Makes my Dining Room look like it has a stained glass window in it.....
Above the counter bar is a long shelf where I have some vintage and some vintage style Kitchen items displayed.........

I now leave the evergreen garland up year round and I build on it for the other Seasons and Holidays....

I added a floral garland with a seed sack garland woven through it to the evergreen garland....

This year, I hung 2 Bee signs from Dollar Tree that I embellished on each side....
I made the bows out of 2 different colored checked ribbons....
The Galley sign came from Red Lobster when they held a remodeling yard sale in their parking lot many years ago!!!!
It was $5!
A copper wire basket hangs from the ceiling with a vintage strainer that I spray painted copper inside of it....
The stained glass lamp was also my late neighbor Elly's....

After I took the initial pictures for this post, I added Bee dessert plates under the red bowls on the counter bar...
Changed the runner to this pretty floral one bought a very long time ago....
Vintage yellow Fiesta Ware teacups on the red mercury glass candle holders....
Cough drops in the red bowl on this side....
A Bee place mat, with a clear cutting board on top, for placing items that come out of the microwave on top of.....
Vintage salt and pepper shakers....
Granola Bars in this red bowl....
This picture was taken before my Memorial Day Cook In and I had all the buns in the galvanized bucket!!!
I changed out the cafe curtain for a red checked one that I made from a tablecloth......
I also changed out the rugs for these....
Bought the towels online from Boscov's....
On the side of the counter bar....
A chalkboard.....
A vintage styled Coca Cola sign, bought at a yard sale for $5!

The ceramic Hen mold was my parent's....

And so was this vintage Planter's Peanuts ( which originated here in Wilkes Barre, Pa.) canister that I keep my rolling pin and mashers in....

And this is where I will leave off for today!!
I will be finishing up the tour of my Kitchen, decorated for Early Summer, in my next post on SATURDAY !!
I will be sharing how I did the Hutch differently this year.......

And that I decided to leave up my Kitchen Tree year round and decorated it with red and yellow roses....
So I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY!!!!
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

THURSDAY
Please take some time to visit these terrific hosts and all those joining in on the fun!
The white foam board idea is genius! It does look so clean and finished. Mine have the accordion and it is showing age. This looks so slick. I am trying it!
ReplyDeleteHeat and humidity has returned here too, just about in one day gone from having furnace on overnight to air conditioning on by mid afternoon. We are having hazy days from all the smoke from the fires on the Canadian prairies. Those lovely grandgirls are growing so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen and all your pretty seasonal decor, Deb, but that rose wallpaper border always makes me smile. There's just something so charming about it. I can't look away!! Your grands are so sweet...getting bigger every day!! Just darling!
ReplyDeleteI like the panels on the side -- that's a really good idea and it looks so much better. We're still cool here. Loving the grand girls!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the piece you have on the ceiling where the copper pot hangs down from Debbie. I cannot believe how big your granddaughters have gotten, it seems like yesterday they were born. Time sure does fly. It's nice they do not need babysitters. You always fill your home with such lovely pieces for each season and holiday. I just do not have the room for more around here. We are packed to the gills.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie! Thanks for another eye candy filled post. I love all the rooster hen motifs and all your copper molds are amazing. The Galley sign from Red Lobster is such a great piece. There's so many great pieces actually. You created such a happy space. The grands are growing up in a hurry! Have a great day. XO- MaryJo
ReplyDeleteWe missed those hot and humid days when we were in Maine but I heard all about them from the rest of our family. I find the older I get the more exhausting it is to watch little ones. I can't imagine trying to wrangle two of them. I just love that your son and his wife are able to work their shifts like that. Those years are tough but they go by so fast.
