I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

We have not been able to park in our Court since Monday night as we are having all the Courts in our development patched, sealed and lines painted....

Yesterday, they put the final coat of Sealant on and today, hopefully weather permitting, we will get our lines painted and be able to park back in the Court by today....

A nice and much needed improvement...

Since I was not able to decorate the front of the house for Fall like I usually do right after Labor Day because of all this, I started the Living Room....

On Day 1, I cleaned up and packed away all of my "Under the Sea" decorations.....

On Day 2, I took down all the Spring/Summer drapes and curtains, cleaned the inside of the windows ( will do the outside once we take the air conditioners out) ,cleaned the mirror of my faux window, ironed the Fall/Winter drapes and curtains and hung them....

What a difference just changing the color of the Drapes and Curtains make....

Spring/Summer

Fall/Winter

I have mentioned this before on my Blog but you may have missed it...

A trick I learned from my late neighbor Elly was to extend the rods out from the actual window size to make the window look visually larger inside the room...

The lace curtains, once we take the air conditioner out, will be closed and they will be all that is hanging in front of the actual window, where the drapes are really just covering about 15 inches of wall on each side.....

This also allows me to take advantage of the light coming in from the entire window....

If you have been here before, you know that I treat a large mirror that I installed in the 80's like a window.....

Spring/Summer

Fall/Winter

And of course, there will be a lighted wreath hanging there in the center as there is for every Holiday and Season!!!

The front door window....

Spring/Summer

 Fall/Winter

On Day 3, I cleaned and packed up all my "normal" decor.....

I will explain in a future post how I do this to make it much easier for me....

I cleaned and polished all wood furniture ( I use Old English) , packed away Spring/Summer tablecloths, runners and doilies, Ironed all Fall/Winter runners and tablecloths and put them out...

What is left out is decor I will be using with my Fall decorations.....

Plus I cleaned the floors and ran the sweeper over rugs and furniture....

Today, on Day 4, I get to "play" as I start to decorate the Living Room for Fall in my "Elegant Autumn" theme.....

Last night, because of the near 90 degree temps. and almost tropical humidity, we had storms which dumped an inch of rain on us and more in other parts of our area......

I have not mentioned this before but I was holding my breath with that rain as our roof was leaking after the last heavy rain storm.....

We have had the exhaust pipe area that is from our Powder Room reinforced and repaired a few times now since our "new" roof will be 25 years old.....

After the last heavy rain, I actually heard dripping coming from my wall between the upstairs sitting room and hall along with finding a small puddle of water on the floor in my downstairs Powder Room!!

We called a local Roofer who has already replaced some roofs in our townhouse development...

He will be putting on a new roof for us and the house next door along with a few more neighbors in the near future but until then, he went up on our roof and fixed the area where the leak was and did NOT charge us!!

Joe tried to at least give him a few bucks to buy lunch and he still would not take anything...

Now who does that in this day and age?????

After the storms last night, the sky took on a strange look at Sunset....

From the back yard....

Crazy, huh????

More storms coming today and predicted for most of next week!!

But at least temps. are supposed to be in the 70's....

After I finish the Living Room, I will start decorating the outside for Fall after packing away all the Summer things....

Joe and I go shopping on Saturday mornings because we have coupons for Dollar General for $5 off $25 which are good only on a Saturday...

Now please remember that we do buy a lot of grocery items there too using those coupons....

This is my decor Haul from Dollar General this past Saturday....

I have been buying things to decorate the front of our house for Halloween for the first time in many years as Joe and Joey talked me into it....

I will do this the first week of October.....

These items were all only a Buck!

Joe wanted these Ghost stakes......

Bats and Spiders for both inside and outside....

These cute buckets and witch hats will be used in the Kitchen.....

These items were $2.00 and $5.00.....

These cool gloves were $2....

They are for a project that I am working on for the Dining Room which is always decorated strictly for Halloween.....

You will get a Sneak Peek at the end of this post!

And this ribbon is for a wreath that I will be making....

Loves this pumpkin garland for $5....

Not sure where I m going to use it yet as I have a few things in mind....

 And this was $3.....

I saw this mug on one of my favorite You Tubers ( The Queen) videos and knew I wanted it for the Kitchen.....

When we left that particular Dollar General ( we have 3 of them all within about 5-15 minutes from us), we stopped at a Dollar Tree that I do not usually shop at as I have 2 that are right down the road from us....

Well, I will be coming to this Dollar Tree more often!!

Not only were they were heavily stocked.....

BUT...

They had Dollar Tree Plus!!!!

Not all our Dollar Tree stores have Dollar Tree Plus and the 2 right by me , do NOT!!

This is my Haul from that Dollar Tree.......

These are Dollar Tree Plus Merch....

Joe loved this for the porch and was only $5!

And this skull bowl was $3!!

These are the items that were $1.25.....

As I always say, one can never have enough bottle brush trees....

Black glitter skulls for crafting....

Loved these paper plates.....

Black roses for crafting....

A great sign for a new display I have in mind for the Dining Room.....

An orange glittered spider...

A witch broom....

 For outside the house.....

Joe loved these ghost and skull solar lights so I bought 2 of each!

 Skeleton hands...

A chain......

 A few Fall items.....

Orange glittered battery operated candles....

Green velvet pumpkins that you know I will be embellishing.....

And this rust branch like garland...

Truth be told, I ran down to one of our Dollar Tree stores right by us on Sunday after Mass because I am looking for a specific item for my Powder Room that is still eluding me....

But of course I did not walk out empty handed....

A Halloween Scarf.....

Orange ornaments for my Dining Room Halloween Tree....

For the Living Room "Elegant Autumn" Tree.....

 And for the Kitchen.....

Joe was going to Ollie's to look for something he wanted so I asked him to pick up 2 Halloween mini flags there as they are only $3.99 each....

He bought the only 2 styles they had.......

On Wednesday, he walked down to Five Below as it is located next to Lowe's which is right on the side of our development.....

After watching another "Shop with Me' video on You Tube, I wanted him to pick up these 2 things for me....

This skeleton was $5 and will be used on the front porch.....

And I am going to use this to make a Halloween wreath for our front door!!!

It was $3!

When we were at Big Lot's on Labor Day, there were 5 of these out but I got distracted by that 90% off Sale( in my previous post)....

So I sent Joe down the other day to pick one up and it was the last one left!

It was $5....

Now many of you are wondering what in the world am I going to do with all of this.......

Well, I am going to have a lot of FUN with it for sure...

You may remember little demure Minerva who resides in my upstairs Sitting Room....

She was all decked out for a Ball this past Christmas.....

Minerva used to reside in the Living Room....

And I used to decorate her for Halloween....

However, before moving her upstairs, she used to creep Joe out because he felt like the eyes on the skeleton head were watching him and following him about the room!!!

This year, I have decided that Minerva is gong to make a come back downstairs in the Dining Room for Halloween....

As a Witch!!!

I have been working on a few things to get the look I want but still have a bit of tweaking to do ....

Here is a sneak peek....

Did you recognize some of the things that I have recently bought?????

  1. It's getting very spooky at your house!!!!! I am looking for little pails. My Dollar Tree used to have some, but none this year. I will need to go out of town to Dollar General and Family Dollar. Those are really cute.

  3. You are a machine! I need to do so many of those things and just can't seem to pull it together. My friends tell me it's because I'm not well right now but that seems to be just an excuse! I love those lightbulbs!
