Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!
Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays
and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a
new post......
Today, I will be sharing the 3 Valentine's Trees in my Living Room...
I was going to share the entire Living Room in one post but there is too much to share so I decided to break it up into 2 posts like I usually do....
But first, a few Personal Notes...
In my previous post , I shared the Dining Room decorated in mainly pink for Valentine's and the month of February.....
Click HERE if you missed it....
In that post, I mentioned that I finally got the Living Room cleaned and changed over to Valentine's and was a bit late posting on Sunday with it being a long story that I would tell you about in this post....
So here is the Story.....
I have been having a problem with my operative knee which started 4 days
after I had my booster shot...
First, the pain started in my right foot
on the Thursday after I received my booster shot that Monday and it felt like the bones were on top of each other....
I never had pain
like this before in that foot...
Then last weekend, my knee started feeling sore and
progressed to the point that it was very stiff and painful when I would
try to walk on it.
Tylenol did not help but Motrin did so even though I
was concerned that it could be hardware failure, I felt it was some sort
of inflammatory process caused by the shot.
I have read that some
people had this happen to a painful arthritic joint like a knee or
elbow after they received the vaccine and booster shots....
It is called Reactive Arthritis caused by the vaccine.
I had been busy so I was bad and not doing my bike so I promptly started doing that again daily as it relieved the stiffness....
The odd thing is that there was almost no swelling..
That is
why it took me so long to get the Living Room done...
My knee was very
painful and I was weary about going up and down the attic stairs but I
did so slowly and did not do things as quickly as I was able to before
this pain started..
It is MUCH better now and only feels a bit stiff at
times.
I am still taking some Motrin but not as much.....
So as long as it keeps feeling better and hopefully, will return to how it felt pre booster shot, I will not act on this as I seriously think it was a reaction caused by the booster shot...
So keep your fingers crossed for me that it was a reaction and nothing else...
Do you know of any one that this type of thing as happened to????
It took me 6 days to finish the Living Room.....
UGH!!
But I am pleased to say that the entire downstairs is now decorated for Winter/Valentine's and will stay this way until the last week of February as February is Heart Month as deemed by the American Heart Association....
This week, I have been tweaking decorations, straightening up around the house and doing some crafting...
On Sunday, I was determined to get the Living Room finished and since Joe won another $200 on Lottery tickets, I told him I was not stopping to cook so he went to Subway.....
This is my Chicken Bacon Ranch Hoagie....
I could only eat half of it....
I did throw some tater tots in the oven....
Joe had a basic Italain hoagie and Joey had a meatball hoagie....
Joe had a coupon for 3 hoagies for $18....
Can't beat that!!
We took also took advantage of the Reheat and Eat WB Scranton Pens Food Service weekly dinners and I ordered Lasagna with veggies, garlic bread and a dinner roll for Joey and I....
I will throw a bit of sauce over the lasagna when I put it in the oven today....
Looks like Joe will be on his own for dinner before he goes to work this evening as he passed on ordering anything for dinner tonight....
His loss....
He can always stop at Burger King....
Okay, now on to the 3 Trees in the Living Room.....
This 7 foot slim Tree, along with the platform underneath it, stays up in the Living Room year round and gets decorated for every Holiday and Season.....
After Christmas, I stripped it down to just the lights .....
I added a set of white Rose Lights....
I then added beaded garland that is the same as what I used on this Tree at Christmas but I intertwined it with garland that I used on the 4 foot Den Tree at Christmas that has roses embossed on it.....
I also added a red heart garland....
Many years ago, I bought several rolls of this red velvet, gold
backed ribbon that has roses embossed on it in Target after Christmas on
Clearance.....
Next I added red and gold rose ornaments that I bought in Big Lot's one year after Christmas......
I also added gold cherubs that I bought in Michael's one year for 90% off......
They were 19 cents each!!!!
We will pretend that they are Cupids....
I have been decorating a Valentine's Tree for well over a decade now so I have amassed a lot of ornaments.....
The color theme for the Living Room for Valentine's is red and gold.....
This year, I mainly tried to stick with red and gold and vintage looking ornaments on this Tree....
The one thing I learned when shopping after Christmas for decorations is to think about what can be used for everyday or for different Holidays and Seasons....
Notice that I do not call any of my Trees, Christmas Trees.....
I only have Christmas Trees decorated for Christmas during that Season....
Yes, I do get upset when someone calls my Seasonal Trees, Christmas Trees....
The rest of the year, the Trees I leave up are Holiday or Seasonal Trees....
I have also made quite a bit of ornaments myself over the years.....
I used these ornaments on both this Tree and a smaller Tree in the Living Room.....
The gold balls with the red hearts were bought in Pier One....
The vintage pillow like ornaments were bought at The Christmas Tree Shop......
I also have red and gold birds on this Tree for Winter....
And LOTS of different type of hearts!!
There is a vintage Victorian style vibe to the decorations on this Tree....
The entire Living Room is decorated for Valentine's with a vintage, Victorian style......
The Victorians Loved Valentine's Day
From Google Search: In the Victorian era, and into the 20th century, lovers exchanged elaborate lace-trimmed cards
on Valentine's Day, expressing their undying love and devotion with
sentiments and poems. ... Although Valentine's Day can be traced to
ancient Rome, it's the Victorians who originally put a romantic spin on
the holiday.
I like that I kept this Tree predominately red and gold and Victorian looking....
I mentioned before that I keep the platform, that is underneath the Tree, up year round.....
I also decorate it for the different Holidays and Seasons.....
I covered the white felt on the platform with a red rose vintage tablecloth.....
On the left side.....
I made the red velvet rose and gold leaf floral arrangements as centerpieces for 2 Nutcracker themed tables I did once when I was a host at our Church's Harvest Tea and went with a red and gold theme for the tables along with the Nutcrackers....
One year, I bought several heart shaped boxes of candy at Target for 75% off and gave Joe the candy and I embellished the boxes....
A red mercury glass votive with a gold rose ornament placed on top of it....
One of my Valentine's Bearington Bears!!
The "Thief of Hearts"
In the center ....
Another candy box, shaped like a heart, that I filled with Red and White velvet roses bought at Dollar Tree.....
3 more Bearington Bears....
"Hottie, Cutie and Love Bug"!!
Red rose lights are strewn throughout the display.....
And another embellished heart box and a sweet cherub but right now we are pretending it is a Cupid!!
And one more box with a crown on it for the "Queen of Hearts"!
Over on the right side.....
Another floral arrangement that I made.....
And yet another heart candy box....
A gold lighted branch tree for this sweet Bearington Bear, who is masquerading as a squirrel, to sit under.....
"Nuts About You"!
And that is how I decorated the platform under this Tree for this year.....
I will be sharing more of the decorations around the Tree in my next post.....
You can see the reflection of my next Valentine's Tree in the mirror.......
The second Tree is on top of the TV Entertainment Center.....
This gold tinsel Tree was in the Dining Room for Christmas......
I moved it here for Valentine's....
As I have mentioned many times before, I treat this area like a fireplace mantel.....
An aqua mercury glass candle holder sits on top of an inverted gold pot......
Many years ago, I used to use an evergreen garland, that had red velvet roses on it, on the railing of the stairs....
As my knee got worse and worse, I needed that railing to hang on to so I would not fall down the stairs and break my neck so I cut the garland up into pieces that I now use around the Living Room for Valentine's....
A piece of that garland is wrapped around the bottom of the inverted pot....
A red heart vase filled with roses....
A vintage styled card in the back....
My friend Anne Marie gifted me a set of 3 adorable figurines that I use for Valentine's because , to me, it looks as if there are lips on their clothing!!!
You will be able to see that better in some upcoming pictures!!
LOL!!
The gold tinsel Tree had a set of red and pink heart lights added to it....
And is decorated with red and gold heart ornaments...
It is topped off with a bow I made from red and gold shimmery ribbon....
I wrapped a red heart wired garland around it as I did to the large Tree in the Living Room.....
I bought the wood Valentine's letter in front of the Tree in the Christmas Tree Shop many years ago....
I embellished the edges of it with red tinsel trim....
This is the set of 3 figurines that look like their clothes has lips on them!!
I know they are not lips but don't you think they look like lips??????
LOL!!
I also used some of the gold rose ornaments ....
Another vintage styled Valentine card......
The heart garland that I hung in front is from Michael's when one time I happened upon their Grab Bags that they make up at the end of the Season and only charge $3 for.....
I bought several bags that time and got a lot of Valentine's craft items, garlands and heart boxes....
I do not know if they still do that....
Well, that is how I decorated the top of the TV Entertainment Center for Valentine's......
And now on to the third Tree in the Living Room, decorated for Valentine's.....
I left this Tree here after Christmas
This is only the 2nd year that I decorated it for Valentine's as I bought this Tree 3 years ago on Clearance in Boscov's.....
I will share more of the decorations around this Tree in my next post....
I topped it off with a bow made out of the same red velvet rose embossed ribbon that has a gold backing.....
But I decided to decorate it with ornaments that had some white and ivory in them....
So I used all my red toile heart ornaments that I bought one year in Boscov's after Christmas on this Tree.....
I also used some of the ones that I made on this Tree....
I did keep the gold tinsel garland on the Tree from Christmas....
From the side....
Because where this Tree is located, it is decorated all around the Tree.....
There are also small red heart ornaments on this Tree....
I wrapped this Tree with the red heart wired garland like the other 2 Trees in the Living Room.....
At the base of the Tree, on top of the marble topped stand it sits on, is a Vintage Valentine's Day card and 2 bottles that came from the Christmas Tree Shop....
I love that the urn this Tree is in goes well with the cherub base that is a plant stand and a marble top, both bought at Salvation Army many years ago!!!!!
I hope you enjoyed seeing my 3 Valentine's Trees in the Living Room and I hope that you will visit again on Sunday when I share the rest of the Living Room, all decked out for Valentine's and the month of February which is Heart Month!!!!!
There is a LOT more to see so I hope you will stop by to visit again on Sunday!!

That lasagna looks delicious! I swear these heat and serve meals just get better and better. How in the world did Joe resist!!!
ReplyDeleteI bet getting the ornaments out for each holiday and season is like greeting old friends. All your decorations are so full of memories and past experiences. It is fun to see your rooms all dressed up in new clothes!!
I like all of your Valentine's Day decorations Debbie. I hope you are feeling better. Take care and enjoy the rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie! I saw you were featured at Grace At Home and congratulations! Now your Valentine's decor is so beautiful and romantic. Your Valentine tree is so pretty and I know you made most of your decorations too! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
You must have HUNDREDS of hearts! They're such a wonderful symbol of love. Valentine's day is always such a pretty holiday and you are acing the mood!
ReplyDeleteThat's the first time I've heard of that sort of reaction to the booster. It didn't seem to affect my arthritis (knee and hands) but who knows. Might have been a different one or different degree of arthritis.. I'm glad it is easing up. I know you'll keep an eye on it if it doesn't. Sounds like you are doing all the right things.
What beautiful Valentine's Day decor!
ReplyDeleteIt would take me 6 days to get all that done even if I didn't have a knee problem! I can't imagine how you store all of that and I've never seen such a festive living room in all my days. Glad you're feeling better. Thank you for sharing this with us on Farmhouse Friday! Enjoy
ReplyDeleteHope your knee is feeling better, Debbie. Your trees are beautiful! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
ReplyDeleteI hope your knee gets better soon. I've heard of reactive arthritis before. I think my inflammatory arthritis occasionally reacts to things. Luckily, it didn't react to the vaccines. Your decorations are so much fun, and I love that you decorate the trees for the different seasons!
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry you had a painful reaction to your booster. I do know that turmeric can be helpful with inflammation. I often drink Golden Milk which does help my hip when it becomes stiff.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were kids we did a play at school about “The Christmas Tree that Stayed up All Year”. Is that your plan?
Thank you for coming and participating at the Sunday Sunshine Blog Hop!
See you soon!
Laurie
