Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I

And now for a few Personal Notes...
For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....
On THURSDAYS,
I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local
cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...
I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....
On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...
Honestly, I have nothing to share for today in the way of where I went because i have been home all week working in my Craft Room, which I will be sharing soon....
I am asking for some prayers for my son Jim and his little family as Jim lost his job....
He is able to receive unemployment compensation and healthcare was picked up by his wife Danielle but it is going to be a struggle for them until he can find another job...
We both believe in everything happening for a reason....
And we truly feel that this is an opportunity to find a better job than what he had, which he was sort of stuck in for over 20+ years....
It may take a bit of time to find that better job in this horrible economy with so many not employed and unemployment rates rising, so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers...
Today, I will be finishing up my tour of the Living Room decorated in a Coastal/Nautical theme for late Summer and my table vignettes which have been decorated with my non Seasonal Victoriana decor....
I am going to start with what I call the Stereo table, which is in the corner by the Dining Room....
My late husband Joe picked this up in an Antique Co Op and it was the perfect fit for my Nostalgic Stereo...
Victorian Lady figurines from Home Interiors...
A Mother's Day gift from my son Jim and his family....
In the Spring, I had switched out the doilies for peach lace ones....
The bottom half has cubby holes....
A picture of my Maternal Grandmother on the far left and her relatives I assume....
A Seraphin Angel and a gift from my Mother....
I found this picture with old photos that were my Mother's and I have no idea who they are...
Since I usually sit in this chair, I like to keep tissues and other things handy....
The sofitt above the entrance into the Dining Room....
In true Victorian fashion, I hung curtains on each side to divide the Living Room from the Dining Room....
I hung a Home Interiors mirror on each side to resemble a transom window .....
I made bows for the bells out of aqua ribbon.....
I bought the cherub piece at a flea market....
On the other side....
I am so happy that I "aged' this faux brick wall and hung the chandy above the Tree.....
In the other corner by the Dining Room....
A Home Interiors figurine in the wall curio and a Victorian tassel doll on the shelf....
A carousal horse bought at a church flea market.....
Another carousal horse on top of the clock, that was a retirement gift for my MIL, that has carousal horses that go up and down when the clock strikes each hour.....
My faux window......
Two signs I made and a Dollar Tree sign that I embellished.....
A wreath that I made.... 
My late husband Joe bought me this mini flag and I decided to display it here after I glued some shells to it....
A Thomas Kinkade throw on the sofa.....
It has a picture of a lighthouse on it....
On the other side of the faux window....

On the Living Room window.....
A Mermaid plaque I made and starfish that I embellished.....
On the side of the TV Entertainment Center.....
This was a lamp that no longer worked so I removed the electrical works and placed peacock feathers in it, using it as a vase....
My husband Joe gifted me this lamp that he got from J. C. Penney's.....

Bought the tea pot at the estate sale of a Florist...

And that ends my tour of the Living Room decorated in a Coastal/Nautical theme for late Summer....
It will stay this way until after Labor Day when I change it over to Fall.....

I do love a nautical theme and you have many wonderful things here! Sending all best wishes to Jim and his family that he can find a new position soon, even if it is temporary till the "perfect" thing comes along. I'm glad their health insurance is still OK.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear Jim lost his job -- it's a rough time for that to happen, for sure. Hope he finds a new and better one soon. I love your lamp-turned-vase with the peacock feathers in it -- very clever. Have a good weekend.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Jim losing his job. It is so scary when that happens. My two oldest sons worked for over 15 years on the railroad and had their jobs eliminated in 2020. Luckily things turned around and they were rehired within one year and two years and were able to keep their retirement years. I will be praying that Jim finds his perfect forever job soon.

I will hold Jim and his sweet family in my prayers. I know when we've gone through some instances of job insecurity we always ended up in a better place - where we were meant to be - on the other end. That doesn't always help when you are in the midst of it though! They are lucky to have you!
