In my last post, I shared how I decorated my Front Porch for Fall this year....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!
I want to Thank to Barb, over at the French Ethereal, for choosing my post, Retirement Paint Project and Gallery Walls, as one of her features from last week's
Share Your Style Link Party!!

Thanks so much, Barb!!
And also Thanks for also mentioning my post,
Looking to Inspiration from my Mother on Widowhood!!
Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!
And now for a few Personal Notes...
Those of us who can remember that horrific day 24 years ago, all have our stories about that day.....
It is important that we share those stories with those that were not yet born or were too young to remember what that day was like....
Here in Pennsylvania, we have a special connection to that day as it is where Flight 93 came down in Shanksville in Somerset County.....
These are the TRUE PATRIOTS and Heroes of our Country along with all those that perished that day....
These people on Flight 93, prevented who knows how many more deaths that terrible day by fighting back with tremendous bravery.......
In 2017, on my late husband Joe and my son Joey's first trip to Pittsburgh to see a Pittsburgh Pens game at the PPG Arena, they stopped at the
Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville.....
If you would like to see more pictures of the Memorial , please click
HERE to see the post I did about that trip that Joe and Joey took in 2017.....
The last time that Joe and Joey went to Pittsburgh together before Joe passed away was in 2023....
They once again stopped at the Flight 93 National Memorial as they wanted to see the new
Tower of Voices that was built....

If you would like to see more on the Tower of Voices, please click
HERE to see the post I did featuring that trip in 2023....
These trips provided special Father and Son bonding for both Joe and Joey and now, for the 2nd year in a row, Joey will be traveling in October to Pittsburgh once again to see a Pittsburgh Pens Hockey Game in memory of his Dad and taking a bit of Joe with him.....
Some of Joe's ashes are in this hockey stick that Joey has hanging in his apartment......
So Joe will be with Joey in October at that Penguins game....
I wanted to share these sweet pictures of my next door neighbor little Anaya, celebrating her 3rd Birthday on Sunday....
She loves Frozen characters, even though she still has not seen the movie!!!
That is big brother Usef in the door!!!
Lol!
Isn't her hair beautiful!!!
And her pretty shoes!!!!
She particularly likes Olaf!!
They sent over 2 pieces of ice cream cake for Joey and I!!
Happy Birthday, sweet girl!!
Today, I am going to share a few Fall decorations in my Front Yard.....
Starting with the flower bed under the Living Room window.....

New this year......

I decided to hang this wood Leaf Wreath on the window.....
The air conditioner is still in as Joey will not let me take it out until the last week of September in case it gets hot again.....

Speaking of that window.....
Take notice the width of that window....
Yesterday, after packing up all my "Under the Sea" decor in the Living Room, I changed over all the Spring/Summer curtains and drapes in the Living Room to my Fall/ Winter ones.....
As I have mentioned in the past, the drapes are actually hanging on the wall on each side of the window to create the illusion of a much larger window....
The actual width of this window is only what is covered by the lace curtains.....
This is a trick that I learned from my late neighbor Elly....
Back to the flower bed....

For Fall, I simply tucked these new Sunflower stakes that I bought last weekend in Dollar General in these pots.....

So far, the impatiens are still looking good even though we have had some low temps. in the low 40's this week......
For now, I left the solar lights out....
The flower bed that runs along the top of the slope in front of my row of townhouses.....
A Fall mini flag and a metal pumpkin yard stake....
A gold ribbon bow on the lamp post facing our parking lot....
Nothing really new here on the park bench....
Except for the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguin's mascot Tux, who was a friend of Joe's, that I added to the little memorial to Joe, as Hockey Season is starting soon....
We were 25 year Season ticket holders....
A pumpkin stake and an owl that is part of a set of 3 that a neighbor gifted me....
Another metal pumpkin yard stake from Dollar General....
I left the bird bath and fountain out for now as the kids next door enjoy it....
Another mini Fall flag.....
And the red truck with a pot of marigolds in it....
An update on a few porch signs......
You may remember that these signs were looking a bit worse for wear.....
So I gave them a fresh coat of gloss black spray paint and then painted the wording gray, using a paint that I had in my stash that was a sample container from Lowe's that only cost $1.00!!
And now......
Much better, don't you think????
Here are a few pics taken of the Front Porch in the early evening......
And these were taken as it got darker and the solar lights came on but on Friday evening when I was not quite finished decorating the porch.....
The Front Porch and Yard will stay like this until October 1st when I change it over to Halloween!!!!
I will leave you with a Fall Sunset from my Front Porch......
And I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY!!!
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!
Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

Barb,
DeleteFor some reason the Sunsets were just not picture worthy during the Summer but the Fall ones are definitely making up for it!! Thanks, once again, for taking the time to visit!! Joe and joey loved visiting the Flight 93 Memorial and I am glad that they went as I got to see it through their eyes...
Hugs,
Deb
Wanted to mention that I visited the Flight 93 memorial in 2013 with my friend from Pittsburgh, Shelly. So moving and sad..
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't believe it's been 24 years since 9/11. I remember it so clearly--it was horrific and just a shocking day. Debbie, your fall decor is darling. I really really love the lights! What a fun idea. Visiting from the Wednesdays in the Studio link party.
