I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

 Happy Flag Day!!

I thought I would share what our original flag looked like!!

I am proud to live in Pennsylvania, which was one of the original Colonies and has so much history!!

I am also proud to be a second generation American on my Dad's side and a third generation American on my Mom's side!!

I am the granddaughter of Polish Immigrants with my grandmother never learning English and died before she became a United States citizen as my grandfather did not obtain citizenship before she passed away...

You see, back then, women became citizens only when their husbands did.....

My Dad and his 7 siblings were Birth Right citizens, having been born in this Country....

My Dad is on the far left in the second row....

For some reason, my Aunt Della is missing from this picture!!

My Dad and his 4 brothers went on to serve during World War II....

They truly were the "Greatest Generation" , born from Immigrants to this Country!

And I am so proud of that!!

I have flags out in the front of my house today...

You can tell that it is raining again....Our 13th weekend in a row!!!

 Happy NO KING'S Day!!

But PLEASE protest with all your might PEACEFULLY!!!!!

Today, I am continuing the tour of my Living Room decorated for the Patriotic Summer Holidays.....

My Living Room has been decorated like this since mid May and will stay this way until mid July....

I am proud of my heritage as the granddaughter of Polish Immigrants....

My late husband Joe was also the grandson of Polish Immigrants with his maternal grandmother never speaking a single word of English right up until she passed away in 1977....

My Mother in law and her 7 siblings were also Birth Right Citizens....

This is why I love decorating for the Patriotic Summer Holidays....

My Ancestors came to this Country in search of a better life!!

Last year, in July, I painted this paneled wall in a faux paint treatment to make it look more like a brick wall.....

This is what it looked like before painted in a peach and aqua faux paint treatment to match the walls....

I do like the moody romantic look it casts upon the room.....

The faux window I made out of a mirror.....

2 plaques that I made....

I kept the bells out to represent the Liberty Bell which is located in Pennsylvania!!

A wreath that I made....

And a plaque underneath it that I also made....

I made envelope pillow covers in red....

I stripped down my 7 foot Seasonal Tree to the lights

Adding a set of both red and blue lights.....

Then I added ivory rose embossed beaded garland.....

The top of the Tree.....

I am going to let the pictures do the talking as I shared a lot of the ornaments for this Tree in my last post....

I also decorate the platform underneath the Tree for every Holiday and Season....

Again, I am going to let the pictures do most of the talking.....

The bears and the political pins were my late neighbor Elly's.....

The truck is a US Mail Truck as Joe was a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service....

A Liberty Blue dish in the center of a Dollar Tree tinsel wreath.....

Joe bought me this sweet bear, who sings "God Bless America"

 In Kate Smith's voice!!

I kept out this white ceramic tree after Christmas and draped wooden beads over it.....

On the window.....

More plaques I made and a Dollar Tree sign....

In a previous post, I shared my "Patriotic "Mantel"

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I decorated my Seasonal Tree for the Patriotic Summer Holidays this year...

In my next post, on MONDAY, I will be finishing up the tour of my Living Room decorated in this  theme...

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY!

  1. Your red, white and blue decor certainly pays homage to your family's roots and to your patriotism! ❤️ 🇺🇸 ❤️ I loved learning more about your family's history - thanks for sharing! Happy Flag Day, Deb!

  2. I love your patriotic living room! Red, white and blue are summer colors to me and everything is such a celebration! We are a mix here, my ancestors were here before the Revolutionary War and my husband is 3rd generation from Polish immigrants. And that makes us both American!!
I decorated my porch in red, white and blue this year. My youngest grandson was delighted I did it all for his birthday. He was born on July 4th. He is young enough I think he may believe that the parades and fireworks are all for him!

  6. Your tree looks so lovely! My grandfather traced our ancestry back to the Mayflower so I was a 9th generation English immigrant on his side... and I don't know the rest. Though I know we have lots of English and French (or perhaps Canadian French) in our family tree.
