UPDATE: Not able to comment on certain Blogs!
I am having a terrible time trying to comment on some Blog posts... The ones where you can comment by logging into Google, using a URL and Name or commenting Anonymously will not allow me to comment at all on some blogs!!
If anyone knows why this is happening, PLEASE let me know what I can do to stop this...It is happening on both of my computers...
If you are having a hard time commenting on my blog, please email me and let me know
I am thinking about changing my comment section to a pop box as that seems to be working okay on different blogs.....
I will be returning comments here on my Blog to those bloggers that I can not leave a comment on their blogs.....So sorry this is happening!!
In my last post, I shared how I decorated the Front Porch for Halloween for the first time in over 20 years...
And now for a few Personal Notes...
I went to J.C. Penney's the other day and bought these using a $10 reward....
I thought they would be perfect as doilies on the round tables in my Living Room.....
Minus the $10 reward, they came out to $8.49!
Last year, I bought these place mats in Dollar Tree....
I decided to make pillows out of them using old pillow forms I had in my stash....
I think they go pretty well with the pillow covers I made from what I cut off a tablecloth that was a bit too big for my Dining Room table....
They also have a silver thread running through this tapestry like fabric!!
Not bad for only $2.50 for 2 new pillows for Autumn!!
Love these deep purple ones!!!
And the light purple ones are still hanging in there.....
I transplanted some asters from my back yard into my neighbor Ed's front flower bed and they are doing well.....
When we landscaped Ed's front flower bed on top of his slope 2 years ago, we cut back this burning bush that lost all it's leaves and looked like it died.....
Look at it now!!!
I already trimmed it a bit earlier in the Season.....
If the whole bush turns red, it is going to be a beauty this year!!!
I will keep you posted!!!
As I mentioned, in my last post, I shared how I decorated the Front Porch for Halloween for the first time in 20+ years....
I also decorated the Front Yard, changing it over from Fall to Halloween!!!
Many years ago when my sons were young, I decorated the slope in front of our townhouse with tombstones to make it look like a cemetery.....
Fall
Halloween
I decided to make the flower bed under the Living Room window into the cemetery this time around.....
This is what I bought for this area.....
And 2 sets of these from Dollar General which were a Buck a piece........
I used one package of spider webs from Dollar Tree on the shrubs.....
After removing the impatiens that were planted in these 2 pots, I placed a tombstone and one set of a skull and hands in them....
There were small holes in the bottom of the hands and skull so I simply used a thin metal rod from my craft stash to push up through those holes and anchor them in the pots....
I attached the skull fencing to the garden fencing with black zip ties.....
Notice to the left, I moved my solar lit garden shovel into the flower bed....
Just in case one would want to dig up a grave!!!
This area only cost $14.50.....
The front flower bed in top of the slope.....
These bats that were a Buck a piece from Dollar General.....
Solar lights from Dollar Tree.....
Also from Dollar Tree....
2 Halloween mini flags that were only $3.99 each in Ollies....
Again I used another package of Spider Webs to cover the azalea bushes.....
The left side......
Fall
Halloween
I placed a solar light and a ghost stake in this pot of marigolds....
The Beware Go Back sign came from Dollar Tree......
I moved the terra cotta Jack O lantern here from the Front Porch, placing it in this black urn.....
I already had this mini flag....
Another solar light and a garden ghost stake.....
The park bench.......
Fall
Halloween
Joe bought these gourdes for me from the Amish Farmer.....
The bats hang from the hooks on each side of the bench....
The gourdes sort of look like claws.....
The spider skeleton was originally displayed in the Dining Room.....
I made a bow for the lantern.....
So far, the marigolds in all the pots are still hanging on.....
I may replace a few with Mums depending on how they continue to look....
Underneath the bench.....
Sort of a Pet Cemetery thing going on.....
I borrowed this tombstone from the Dining Room decorations....
The hands came from Dollar Tree....
A bat hanging from the hook and another Dollar Tree sign "Danger Keep Out".....
More ghost stakes and solar lights.....
This area cost $22 to decorate....
Looking up from our parking lot.....
The Front Yard cost only a total of $36.50 to decorate for Halloween.....
In the evening......
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I changed over the Front Porch and Yard from Fall to Halloween.....
My goal was to use what I had and do it as inexpensively as I could.....
With the Front Porch decorations costing $59.25.....
And the $36.50 for the Front Yard...
I did this for a total cost of $98.75!!!
I did want to try to keep it under $100!
And I sure had a lot of FUN with this......
The best part is that it brought back so many memories of years ago when my sons were young and Halloween was a really big deal in our house!!!

"Halloween has become the second biggest decoration holiday next to Christmas, with Easter in third place and Valentine's Day, the 4th of July, and St. Patrick's Day following closely behind".
One town in my area, the town where my high school was, has declared itself a Halloween Town because of the amount of people who decorate their homes for Halloween drawing huge numbers of people especially on Halloween Night....
A face book page was started , Halloween Town, West Pittston, Pa.
Click HERE if you would like to see it and join.....
On FRIDAY, in my next post, I will be going back in the house and will be sharing my Victorian Goth Pink and Black Halloween Powder Room!!!
So I hope you will stop by to visit again on FRIDAY!!!
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

ReplyDeleteGosh, the colors of those profuse asters - SO GORGEOUS!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your porch and front lawn, so creative and fun. And the lights at night make it very spooky! I bet you get a lot of foot traffic admiring your efforts. What a fun project.
I almost have my curiosity cabinet done. It doesn't compare with yours, but my grandkids love it! Thanks for the idea!
The garden is looking good. I just love those glorious purple asters. And those leafy placemats are very pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour asters are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I love your gardens!! Looks like you've been having fun decorating outside and inside for Halloween. :) I haven't really done anything around here except decorate my hutch for fall. Will share that soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy to share your post at this past Wednesday's Share Your Style #406,
