I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

What's New on the Home Front

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I mentioned in my last post that my "new" camera died after less than 2 years....

Kodak told me to return it with a form that I had to fill out and that they would send me a new one even though I did not purchase an extended warranty....

Well, my "new" camera just arrived in California after a week!!

Now it has to be checked out that it was not damaged and then I guess they will send me a new one as promised so I do not expect that for another week or two.....

I have been using my old camera so I will apologize for the pictures in advance.....

I want to Thank Niki, over at Life as a Leo Wife, for choosing my post, Storage Ideas in my Craft Room, as one of her features from May 2nd's Happiness is Homemade Link Party!!!!

 Thanks so much, Niki!!

And I want to Thank, Bev, over at Eclectic Red Barn, for choosing my post, Patriotic Tree in the Living Room, as one of her features from last week's Thursday's Favorite Things Link Party!!!

Thanks again, Bev!!

Please stop by and link up to these charming parties!!!

In my previous post, I shared my Red, White and Blue " Mantel" in the Living Room.....

Click HERE if you missed that post....

So what has been new here on the Home Front???

As I also mentioned in my previous post, we were dog sitting our Grand Pup Faye for 9 days when our son and DIL were on vacation in Las Vegas.....

Little Faye spent 9 nights on the sofa with me.....

She would curl up in this corner of the sofa....

She would sleep there all night!

When I woke up to go to the bathroom, I would take her outside and like a good girl, she would do her business....

And she would fall right back to sleep!!

She is such a cutie!!!

She also really loved our ottoman in the Living Room!!!

She loved this throw so much that I sent it home with her and she snuggles in it at home now!!!

She also loves chewing on her teething bones....

Sometimes on top of Joe's foot!!!

And she loved laying in the Sun when one of us were sitting on the patio out in the back......

She really was very good while she was with us and did not bother any of my things that I have all over the place but she was like  canine sweeper and constantly picking up stuff on the floor so I had to keep dusting the floors and running the sweeper!!

I will say that she can eat and she can sleep!!!

She amazed us at how much a little dog like her can eat and sleep!!!

Jim and Danielle missed her so much that they came here right from the airport at 11:30 pm to pick her up and take her home!!

She was so excited to see them!!

We do miss her but we will see her in Monday morning when they go back to work and we go to take her out and play with her for awhile....

Jim and Danielle gifted us a few things in appreciation of taking care of Faye!!

Vegas coffee mugs as they know we drink a pot of coffee every morning!!

And ornaments for my Trees!!!

On Tuesday, the one local church that we have bought potato pancakes from had an Election Day Food Sale.....

 We got Porketta sandwiches!!

Tortellini soup

And their " Not Your Mama's " Ziti which we have had in the past!!

It is not made with Italian sauce, mozzarella cheese or meat.....

I am not sure how it is made but it is delicious!

We had 2 meals out of all of this!!

Before we put the air conditioner in the Living Room window, I wanted to take some pictures of this view through the window.....

We put the Living Room air conditioner in because it hit 90 degrees here during the week....

I finally got around to decorating Nelson Crest for the Summer Patriotic Holidays.....

I will be doing a post on Nelson Crest in the future....

Hopefully, when I get my new camera......

I also want to show you my azaleas in the front yard.....

Too bad they don't stay in bloom longer....

I did get to do a little project that I wanted to do....

Since the squirrels keep digging and burying the peanuts that my neighbor puts out for them in my pots, I thought if I put these white rocks on top of them, the squirrels will leave them alone....

So far so good!!

I decided to set up a little Fairy/Gnome garden...

I also rearranged the Fairy/Gnome Garden in the tub......

I even did the pot on the other side......

I also decided to put some rock into some other pots.....

So far the squirrels have left them alone.....

Finally, it got warm enough here to plant my annuals.....

As I mentioned before, I am trying not to spend any money needlessly so since flowers are my weakness and I know if I went to a Nursery, I would get carried away so I sent Joe to buy flowers for me......

Of all places, Joe bought them at Malacari's, a place right down the road from us that sells lunch meat and other groceries....

They have a little area on the side set up as a Nursery and get trucks in 3 times a day from local Nurseries....

These were 9 in a flat for $3.49!!

I planted all my pots with annuals in the front yard and in the back yard and it only cost $58!!!

I have spent over $150 some years on flowers and this year, I wanted to spend under $75 so I am thrilled that I spent under that!!

Here is a sneak peek of the front of our house......

I planted the hanging bags that I have had for years and decided to hang them somewhere different this year.......

Why I never though to hang them on the arbor before is beyond me.....

Our neighbor Ed, who now lives in my neighbor Elly's old house, treated us to a tray of pizza on Friday from a local bar, Plain's Pub......

It was so good!!!

Joe picks up the newspaper in the mornings for Ed when he gets ours.....

And that about wraps it up as to what is new here....

Hopefully, I will have a new camera for my next post but I will not be holding my breath on that!!

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  2. Your flowers are beautiful! I did spend quite a bit this year. We have a big porch with hooks and I love huge hanging baskets. I also have a bicycle against a tree and I use a hanging basket contents to fill the basket. But the big thing this summer is that I bought (and planted, all by myself) four flats of annuals. A year ago I was sitting in a recliner with an ice machine and several strategically placed pillows and on walks to the car for treatment I looked at my weed filled flower beds and never thought I would be able to do it. I had to use a kneeler with long handles, but every moment I was digging, I was thanking my lucky stars. I never thought I could do it. My sweetie husband has been fertilizing and watering since it hasn't rained in the seven days since I planted and I can't wait for the color!!!

  4. Such a cute little grandpup you have. Nve you can keep her when her humans go on a vacation. We have a daughter that comes and stays at our house when we go. Love your patriotic tree. My tree is up but still undecorated. Did get totes out with the decorations and need to get it done today after i get the window box and the area around the mailbox planted.Had hoped to have planting all done but eye testing put that on hold for a few days. Am getting ready to have my cataracts removed and had to go to surgeon Monday. never had my eyes stay dilated for three days when done but could't see much of anything for three days.

I have to say that pizza sure looks good. Will be doing pizza either Thursday or Friday this week for us. Got people coming to install solar on the roof so will be an easy meal for me to do.

WEll off to do the window boxes. Hope all is well and stay safe.

  10. You did get a good deal on the flowers! I buy my annuals from a little grocery, too, for the same reasons. And then hit the nurseries about now when they start marking things down for end of planting season, looking for perennials. We have to pamper them in the summer heat after planting but most make it through. Your flowers are beautiful!
